Ok so we Ward the Library and have a new mission for Pycelle and/or 'Varys', the collection of VIP samples because it is finally time for Pox of Rumours.

This can be cast at any distance so we can even do the temporary localised boon at a Heart Tree if we feel the need to bump CL.

Cersei: Rumour is she's descending into dark magic. She has used it to kill.

Robert: Terrified of Targaryen. Fruitless training efforts leave him exhausted and prone to nightmares.

Arryn: Weak of seed so made a poorly worded bargain with the Fey to have a child.
Has the benefit of warning people to be careful of what bargains they make.

Kevan: A mouthpiece for the Lannister Witch.

The ratings from the past reminded me of something I really wish we had done :(

I'll be frank, I have very little desire to go to Slavers' Bay or Qohor IC in the 2nd month.
Interlude-series are long as they are, spending an entire month doing subterfuge is gonna be... annoying, to say the least.

We could go around with Richard and Mereth, there are a few minor-ish Adventure Locations we haven't covered yet, that can reasonably be tackled ina group of 3:
[] The Curse of Brightbarrow: "Brightgallow near Three Towers, the seat of House Costayne in the Reach, is the site of some sort of powerful transformative curse theorized to be caused by wishcraft gone awry. Most of the villagers were put to the sword following instances of banditry and cannibalism, but there is an indication that Garth 'The Gallant', a fey-sworn knight, has preserved the lives of the youngest inhabitants who were them taken to Greyshield in secret. Investigate the site in search of whatever artifact had worked the initial transformation.
(Opposition: ??; Rewards: ??)

[] The Temples Hidden: Use the widely-available divination, and the mystic amulet of Blind God of Lorath, to find his temples, hidden away across the lands of Essos.
(Opposition: ??; Rewards: ??)

[] Beneath the Silver Mountains: Clear out the Venthari silver mines.
(Opposition: Degenerate Fleshcrafters Drow (Hags), ??; Rewards: ??)

[] The Children of Yahzarin: Seek out the surviving Coatls of Jazzirian (one beyond the Sunset Sea, one either in the Summer Isles or some unknown lands west of Sothoyros, one… seemingly either on the Moon or the Sun).
(Opposition: ??; Rewards: ??, Coatls ?)
Or we could go to Plane of Water again, and flex diplomance at Marid with all of our Diplomancy.
We need some major diplomancing done at various remaijjng houses if we are to have them help against the Squids.

Or we could go Infiltrate City of Brass.
Now, I get @Crake's feelings about involving ourselves with CoB too much being shite for the pacing.
I still disagree on the SoD-level, but that's neither here nor there, because by going in in person we could draw up far more contacts, and do shit far more efficiently, than Maelor's little group... and still not do jack shit about moving the timeline for the siege on CoB.

Of course, that also falls under "the whole month, subterfudging", and be shite as such, but at least the sights are prettier... :V

So besides being a bane to fey and fiends what uses does Cold Iron have compared to regular iron? Can we make it into cold steel through magic is something?

Part MMMDLXXVI: Raising Works and Stirring of Powers
Raising Works and Stirring of Powers

Twenty Eight Day of the First Month 294 AC

The mine would serve a greater purpose to the Legion, not sold on the open market. Any who might wish to buy weapons to be the bane of fey or demons could do so from the Opaline Vault. It should not be more than a month or two to get the miners trained for safely pulling the ore from the earth and the first exploratory tunnels sunk into the hills. While demons are still a matter of isolated cults of madmen, fallen fey march to the command of the Lords of Winter still and only time will tell if you can break the Court of Stars' power over the Reach fully without battle.

Speaking of fey, news from the Rhoynar is if anything even better than news from Pentos. Proper healers supplementing their magics with herbs and rituals are now present in all the larger settlements across Ar Noy, Ny Sar, Golden Fields and even once beleaguered Ghoyan Drohe with Chroyane a month away from joining them, but that is not the whole of the tale. Report after report mentions healers working along the banks of the Rhoyne experiencing dreams of being washed away by a gentle current to encounter 'a great water lord they could not name' who was pleased with their work, one they felt at times empowering their rituals beyond what one might expect of them. At first many of the local administrators had been alarmed for all the mages were not.

Thankfully the Lady Silore was able to identify the mysterious nighttime visitor without need for an expedition to the Dreamlands. Though Mother Rhoyne is gone with her people and with Prince Garin's curse the river is silent, though not all who once served her are gone. Old Man of the River, proclaimed son of Mother Rhoyne, sage and healer both to the water mages of old, is stirring from his long slumber. According to Silore he is no ethereal spirit dwelling in some far off place, nor even a fey lord locked away in the depths of some hidden court, but an ancient turtle of a titanic breed whose like no longer walk the earth, blessed first with the gift of speech by long dead fey and then with immortal wisdom by the Mother Rhoyne herself for guarding and aiding Her children.

Where he sleeps neither fey memories or mirrored divinations can tell, but it is clear the Old Man wakes, and he finds favor with the work of your mages in the lands that he once helped to shepherd. Another Power to add to your allies, if not one particularly grand and more concerned with local matters.

Alas not all the news is as pleasing to the ear. Inquisitors in the Golden Fields province have interrogated the rogue mages who worked with bandits in the Eastern Flatland and discovered their patrons to be far off indeed, and not where one might expect them to be. They bear the ax-brand of the Bearded God of Norvos upon their flesh and they supposedly fought 'to prevent another tyranny of the Dragons of old.' Norvos it seems has not forgotten the Freehold and they do not hold you in particularly high esteem.

Here's an edited version of the chapter, @DragonParadox. I think the table is a bit wonky. A few too many supernatural investigations?

Not bad, but not really much for something legendary either.
Technically CR 16, but in fact harder on the defence, weaker on the offence than that CR should be.

In this case a natural advancement in HD would make a big difference, as it improves the abilities of the Fey Animal template a lot.
Also some costum SLAs would be appropriate.

He is also known for casting (and granting) spells, it's just that Silore does not know enough about him to say exactly what kind.

Damn, Grandfather Turtle isn't your run of the mill snapping turtle. I'm assuming he has class levels or a spellcasting template, too. Cleric Creature would put him at CR 19 and 9th Mythic tier.

He'll be a nice ally to have, even if he remains solely focused on the Rhoyne and those who make their homes nearby.

No, the Intrument template count the base CR before the Instrument template is applied, so that would be Rank 5 right now, or 6 with Cleric Template.

I think what he really needs is more HD to give any casting of his some power behind it.

He could probably be UPGRADED if you catch my drift.

Damn, awesome to hear we will have Old Man on our side soon and I have no doubt there is more to his stats than what little we do know. I wonder if he would be interested in court of various flavors of turtles, dragon ones included.

Also, Norvosi about to be bitched slapped down.

10 to 1 that it's some sort of false flag or independent attack pretending to be from all of Norvos. What was this even supposed to achieve, if this was real? Let's try talking it through first.
