[X] Yes (Lose 1,000,000 IM)
-[X] This assumes we are returning Heronious' Clockwork Familiar, but also receiving a copy of the special lore it contains as previously agreed upon.
-[X] Inquire about purchasing copies of the lore that has already been auctioned off (Scroll of Spiritual Decay, Ar'Azil's Grimoire and the Tome of Cacodaemon Anatomy).

Damn, that's just what the soul doctor ordered.

@DragonParadox, you told us to ask IC about getting other lore from him, so I'm putting it in the vote.

@Duesal, all of these aren't really of interest - the only thing we'd really want due to uniqueness is
Asphyx's Agony (Device that gives better perception of souls beyond the usual suite of spells used in such workings, granting +7 to all practical experimentation with raw soul-stuff)
We have to inquire for lore to make one ourselves, or something, if it was sold without return.

Also, this whole "you can buy it off the devil afterwards" really fucks with the whole notion of the auction, however much it was a pretence from the start.

There is no guarantee he will sell you everything, in fact Viserys suspects he won't since that would allow you to replicate his own research if you have the skill.

They're not of immediate interest, no. But this is our chance to verify if they're for sale at all. We can decide to hold off on purchase until a later date.

That said, unfortunately for Asphyx's Agony, it's not lore. It's a magic item. Lore can be copied en mass, but he'd need another of those items sitting around. I can definitely ask if he happens to have one for sale, though. Adding that now.

I'm not looking to buy everything, just looking to purchase what he is willing to offer up. Right now we don't know anything because we have to ask IC.

Just, objectively, it is worth more for us than any other lot present combined, if we take it in conjunction with this Book of Goodness for 1mil.
I assume he got it back, or has a way to replace it, similar to how he handles us gettign his familiar.
I'd say, 500,000 IM is a fair price, and/or lore.

We can offer this stuff freely (and it will be of some interest to him as a researcher) for other miscellaneous lore of his:
Voice of Ashes (Lesser)
School: Transmutation; Divination Level 5
Casting Time: 50 Minutes
Material Components: Some fragment of parchment once containing the lore sought, quicksilver and golden rods, worth a total of 500 Gold inscribed with invocations to a power possessed of sight beyond mortal ken (any entity that can grant a commune spell)
Required Caster: Mage capable of casting level 2 or higher divination spell
Secondary Casters: None
Skill Checks: Knowledge Arcana (DC 20) 2 success; Spellcraft (DC 25) 2 successes, Knowledge Religion, Nature or Planes (DC 22) 1 Success
Backlash: Caster loses the ability to communicate intelligibility for one hour though any but magical means (such as the effects of Comprehend Languages or Tongues)
Effect: Complected writings restored to legibility
Failure: Caster loses all knowledge of one language known
Because restoring destroyed sources of lore is kinda near-priceless for any researcher.
Elder's Insight
School:
Divination Level 6
Casting Time: 60 minutes
Material Components: Sothoryi herbs and powdered painted lizard bones and organs worth 1,200 IM, skull whose knowledge is to be imparted
Blood Component: None
Required Caster: Mage capable of casting at least Level 3 Divine Spells
Secondary Casters: Up to three
Skill Checks: Knowledge (Religion) (DC 21) 2 successes; Spellcraft (DC 19) 3 successes
Backlash: Caster loses the ability to cast any spells from the school of necromancy for 1 day
Effect: Subject of the Ritual gains knowledge of all languages the bearer of the skull spoke in life as well as an understanding of the cultural context needed to speak it as a native speaker; +5 Competence Bonus to Bluff and Disguise checks made to appear as a member of that culture.
Failure: The memories contained within the skull are imperfectly imprinted upon the mind of the caster rather than the proper target of the ritual, damaging his or her mind (Suffer Level Drain).
Because makes gathering lore from a new source easier.
Spirit Kinship (Lesser)
School: Universal Level 6
Casting Time: 60 minutes
Material Components: Rare salts, incense, and herbs worth 1000 Gold
Blood Component: None
Required Caster: Mage of at least level 11 with a Bound Familiar
Secondary Casters: None
Skill Checks: Knowledge Arcana (DC 22) 2 success; Spellcraft (DC 18) 3 successes
Backlash: Caster loses the use of one of his senses for half an hour (roll 1d5)
Effect: Subject of the Ritual gains Improved Familiar as a Bonus feat.
Failure: The caster's familiar dies.
Becasue general utility, is pretty high-value ritual to sell though, will need something equally big.

Thanks @egoo, definitely keeping this in mind for whatever lore Heronious decides he's willing to sell us.

You know, it just occurs to me we have no clue what this devil actually wants, besides his eventual goal of remaking Axis.

We can definitely find out over the course of this and future interactions. I imagine at least part of the lore is being used for self-improvement, which is probably how he's not insane from his visions.

Highlighted for emphasis. Regardless of what lore we may end up acquiring on this trip, making not one but two potentially valuable contacts with important figures in Hellven, Heronious and Iradious, has been well worth our time.

As soon as we get over the Westeros shit and whatever apocalypse happens next Tuesday, I want to start building our own informaiton network here in Hellven. Also start selling the Holy apple wine.

Hahaha, I'm looking forward to getting in a position to do that. We would vastly outstrip all the other drug lords by the sheer scale of demand this would generate. We can have the entire city hooked.

It says something that selling bootleg moonshine in Heaven is one of our more moral occupations.

I'm not exactly sure what but I'm sure it's something.

Don't forget to vote, ya'll.
