Do hope that people who invested with us enjoy all the money they got from this venture in general since everyone profited, even if not as extremely as we did ourselves.

I also expect more far eastern traders to make it far west after this as well.
I look forward to the influx of Yi-Tish traders. There are probably a small number of them who use our ports, but the results of the expedition should improve that significantly.

gotta say that having a Yi-Ti ish Rumour report about us would be hilairious. either as an Omake or in an actual update (knowing what rumours are around about us in Yi-Ti could be helpfull).

honestly having rumour reports about us from multiple sources would be great fun

I'll see what I can do. It'll be in the vein of the Nega-Verse jokes.

Bring on that sweet, sweet money. :D

I am especially pleased with how well the Valyrian Steel was able to be auctioned off for. With this precedent we might be able to keep selling it for ludicrous prices. Maybe one big auction every few months. The Yi Tish would be climbing over each other for the chance to get a weapon for themselves.

But we got a character poised to become the supreme, quasi-deity ruler of most of humanity, because this is where the desire for revenge, the lust for power and a stark "us vs. them"-mentality has led to.

I read this post and was awsome.....

but also my first answer to it was "or dear, we are becoming the god emperor of mankind, isnt?" we only need to have a super pimp golden armour right now.

Which of course it open the question: if we are the emperor.....

who would be horus? vee? richard?....dany?

probably dany.

Interlude DCCCVI: Report From the Roadwarden's Office
Report From the Roadwarden's Office

Twentieth Day of the First Month 294 AC

In this age of marvels when dragon soar against through the sky, trees speak and magic blooms in the hands of common man it is easy to discount the simpler works of the empire, simple but by no means less grand. I speak of course of our roads, wrought of fused stone conjured and shaped first by sorcery, then by the honest labor of many eager workers, like the dragon roads of old. Bridges solid enough to stand the test of ages span countless rivers that before could only be traversed by ford, ferry or less reliable spans and even the straights that separates Essos from the Stepstones have been bridged for the first time since the the dawn of the world.

More than a monument to imperial power, or even a means to move the legions quickly to where they are needed, the roads have changed life in many towns and villages across Essos. It is now possible for farmers to carry their crop further to market at a profit and herders to drive their sheep and cattle into larger market towns. Particularly in the fertile region that was once the Disputed Lands towns and vassal cities that once had to spend a great deal of their wealth on arms and armor for their guard, not to mention bribes for passing bands of sellswords, can now make use of the new roads to increase the flow of both raw materials and finished goods. Large workshops are planned or in some cases already functioning in places where it would not be profitable for them to exist without the imperial roads.

Itinerant tinkerers and large constantly moving caravans of traders, dealing mostly in finished goods and luxuries for the smaller towns and villages of Essos present in their current form at least as far back as the Century of Blood if not longer, have also been growing and showing more profits according to admittedly patchy census data from various cities in the Disputed Lands and beyond. There is also admittedly still anecdotal data of individuals traveling further for all manner of purposes where the roads allow, from business and trade to seeking spouses farther afield. It is my belief that the overwhelming movement of people from the former slave latifundia to the cities have masked the fact that people of all standings are simply traveling more because they can so do at greater ease with less expense and more safety.

For those without the means or the desire to actually travel the Imperial Post has created a never before experienced opportunity to keep in touch with kin far away. A postrider's saddlebags are never empty and consequently so are filled the pockets of many scribes. Being able to both compose and read letters is a skill of growing value throughout Essos making literacy attractive for many who would not have considered the worth before, particularly petty traders and village craftsmen who might wish to transmit messages through the post without needing the aid of a scribe or priest to read out the letters.

While there is a long road indeed to walk to the dreams of wide scale literacy among the peasants who work the land, such that I have heard in the academics of Sorcerer's Deep one can at least walk up to a tenant farmer in most of the Disputed Lands and propose the notion of one of his children learning to read and write without him laughing in disbelief.

By Gaelon Oranis, Senior Assistant Clerk with the Office of Transportation, Tyrosh

OOC: I tried to write something 'closer to the ground' as it was, but that ended up missing several of the aspects presented above so I went with the top down perspective. You guys do have clerks who can draw wide ranging conclusions, even a few who do not think statistics is a form of witchcraft, though the field is still in its infancy.

Here's an edited version of the chapter, @DragonParadox. I think you need to add who the author of this report is. As it is now, we get it in first person POV, but don't know who it is.

He is just a clerk from the office of roads, someone with a classical education, hence the vocabulary used, I did not think he was important enough to name, but if you guys want it I can get him one.
If you do, I'll use his name as the author of my 10'000 word dissertation on the socio-economic impact of widespread road networks in Western Essos. :V

I don't think an actual name is needed, maybe just have it signed off on by something:

Junior Clerk in the Office of Infrastructure Management, Sorcerer's Deep

Or give the report a simple title?

Well he has both a name and a title now.
