Lest you two forget, the main purpose of the op was evacuating the civilians.
Yah, we have failed at that.
Not overly much, but we did.
Ergo, the stuff being refreshing.
Just because you don't value them doesn't mean Viserys doesn't, or that the losing them isn't a failure. The whole point of coming here was firstly to get them out and secondly to steal some stuff. Losing hundreds of them is a failure, even if it wasn't a complete one.Nah, we still won, we just lost some couple hundred useless civilians.
Hindsight 20/20 - I'm pretty sure we expected the Others to strike back at the forward teams, not at the camp where the overly-murdery sky-ships are.We rescued over 5 thousand. To be fair, if our objective was to get them safe, we shouldn't have poked the others. We got them killed beause we cared more about dealing a blow to Blue Balls
Sort of. We can use it to transform the ground down to a depth of 240+ feet into volcanic stone. Unlike most beings underground at the time, the Dread Wraiths wouldn't be overly bothered by that.Next time we should evacuate before raiding...in the event that we have to do this again. Also @Goldfish would Transdimensional SOTD hit people underground?
Nah, SotD is great for targeted destruction, but when we want am indiscriminate FU to the Others, we use Erupt.@Crake, you should add trying to loot the ward anchors on our way out and then using astral, mythic SotDs to nuke the entire valley into oblivion.
Hm.
I dont suppose the Apocalypse from the Sky is a valid spell in this setting, @DragonParadox?
Would've been a nice way to end some of the hidden wights, we'd just have to burrow to roughly same distance they went.

I was mentioning it because with so many of them possibly still in the valley, we're going to want to hit as hard as we can over as large of an area as we can manage, and SotD is great for that.
The most important thing for me is that it pulverises anything the Others might loot. Bits of the Wyvern, stray blood or body samples of people, ward anchor remnants and so on and so forth.Nah, SotD is great for targeted destruction, but when we want am indiscriminate FU to the Others, we use Erupt.
Viserys' base casting would deal 240 points of damage in a 2400 foot radius.
We prioritized them within reason, IMO. We weren't just taking our time looting the valley for shinies, but were looking for important runelore and anything else we could either use against the Others or deny to them after the Thenns were gone. You can't mention that any more, it is going to give everyone vietnam flashbacks!
Jokes aside, we could have prioritized saving the civilians. We just didn't.
I would personally prefer if Erupt doesn't even exist in this setting. It's never been used so far, so it's not like there would be any issues with continuity of it gets axed.
I'm all for banning it. It's just... very powerful in a very lame way and the fluff makes it awkward to use.I would personally prefer if Erupt doesn't even exist in this setting. It's never been used so far, so it's not like there would be any issues with continuity of it gets axed.
Oh, damn, that stuff is neat. I don't remember seeing that before. Was mad at ghosts getting a leg up on us, so was looking for ways to mess them up. Dealing with massive amounts of ghosts is unsurprisingly proving difficult.
I feel like Ghostwall Shellac has some interesting properties, but I don't know if it be useful on a mass scale.
Arcologies with Superior Sign of Sealing cast on the walls would be better. It would be about as difficult to get into for the would-be dispeller and you could house more people and the buildings themselves would be useful for keeping the environment temperature controlled. Also indoor greenhouse hydroponics.[X] Crake
One lesson to take from this is that we definitely need some better civilian protections in our holdings. The Others have show they're more than willing to storm a well defended position for the chance to kill innocent people, and even if we win in the end a lot of people would die.
We have oodles if tax revenue now, maybe we should consider pocket bunkers for the major cities and townships. Astral Hospice is cheap and has 50 square feet inside that people could really pack into.
If someone stops and dispells it they're screwed, but breaking in with brute force isn't easy and anyone using dispells for slaughtering civilians in an active war zone is going to regret it -briefly - when an Imperial battle sorcerer burns them alive. If we've been forced out of the territory there isn't much that could protect them anyway, so we don't need to consider much past the battle for these. At 1/day a CL there will be plenty of time to resolve most active conflicts one way or the other.
I think we should start a publicly funded program for producing single use items for this and distributing them via fire departments and guard posts. Then we can do a "duck and cover" campaign via mirror vision, allowing us to meme and save lives at the same time.
We could also sell custom kits to wealthy landowners via red scales holdings to support the public program and get some coverage in the country side at the same time.
As the US and the Soviet Union found out: You can't realistically do this. The logistics of scale make it impossible to shield civilians against direct terror attacks.[X] Crake

For long term stuff, but I'm thinking more about reducing casualties during an assault on our cities as they stand. If our enemies are willing to expend troops on spite they can kill a lot of people, even with good defenses and active PC opposition.Arcologies with Superior Sign of Sealing cast on the walls would be better.
