No, Maelor and his group are fine where they are. They're essentially a static commitment of resources, we can't back out of it.

Just to be sure: The fey magic works based on the connection of the lords to the land (that old conceptual 'the land is the king, the king is the land'), right?
Now, what happens if the recognized ruler of the lords repudiates the deals? Civil war?

Including drawing back Maelor and his team, or will that stay?
Nah, his team is still there, doing fuck-all as usual.
Mel, Amy, maybe even Urten and Siduri can be of use elsewhere for this (hopefully) short month of Feyfuckery.

Tbh, I was hoping for a chance to deal with some Plane of Fire things...
Char-serpents, some destinations in the larger Efreeti war...
*sigh*

Hence the second question of my vote. I want to send a lot of Inquisition goons with backup. Preferably enough of it that they can survive long enough for aid to arrive if something goes wrong.
That would be useful, but a lot of the "reinforcements" are rather blunt weapon, for operating on foreign soil and against people we don't want to escalate to total war yet.

And the Fey are propably the faction with the best skills in exposing any devils, undead or fleshforged monsters we send in a negative light to the locals.

Either the edict shatters the defenses, or a price is paid.

I think we'll end up using a ritual to suborn the protections for the Old Gods.

Hence talking about it instead of blindly sending them.

It will likely be mostly various plant things and constructs, though a few lead-clad undead wouldn't go amiss.

A team of "PR friendly" forge creations led by a couple of Mind Dragons should be able to do most things they need to do to, investigate, etc., plus defend themselves until help arrives. And people experience more mixed feelings about dragons than anything, even less when they are deliberately either in human form or pseudodragon form. And in the Reach, actively permissive of weird nature spirits poking around and being living plant things.

Okay.

But aside from that specific point, dedicating agents and parties to the Fey does mean less effort for other fires.

Are we sure we want to prioritize the Court of Stars over Devils and other issues?
We're steadily increasing our resources. Next month for example, we'll have six more Mighty Mind Dragons which are good for a lot more than just fighting battles. We'll also have eight more Heralds.

Actually, there are a lot of potentially useful survivors which will become available next month. Among them, some from this group would be great for investigating Fey in the Reach.
Other Forces:
250 Verdant Kingfisher (CR 2, 2 HD) - 300 IM each (Total: 75,000)
25 Plant-Imbued Shadow Creature Cat (w/+4 Racial HD) (CR 6, 6 HD) - 1,200 IM each (Total: 30,000)
25 Advanced Sorcerer Creature Snapdragon Leshy (w/+8 Racial HD) (CR 10, 14 HD) - 4,800 IM each (Total: 120,000)
25 Verdant Raven [Advanced Plant-Imbued Giant Raven (w/+4 Racial HD)] (CR 6, 6 HD) - 1,200 IM each (Total: 30,000)
A group composed of a Mighty Mind Dragon, a Verdant Raven and ten Verdant Kingfisher minions, a Shadowcat, and Sorcerer Snapdragon Leshy would be strong, versatile, and easily able to move about without attracting undue attention. The Mind Dragon and Leshy also bring the necessary skills to the table for the magical investigation.

Three or four such groups, maybe with an Erinyes to help them coordinate and relay information back to SD seems like a decent set of investigators.

no sending erinyes to the warded areas. so they can't help to investigate there

The wards in those areas affected by the Fey pact don't stop Devils from entering, they merely make them less effective. The Erinyes in my proposal wouldn't actually be involved in the investigation, but would instead travel between the groups, helping them coordinate their efforts and relaying information to and from SD.

There are other options as well, of course, but an Erinyes would be most convenient.

We could use my new molds instead. They are mindlinked within 100 miles, so they could serve as relays if we cram them into an inconspicuous host.

The molds are plant creatures, not undead. They are just based on a plant that suckles on human remains and negative energy.
Sorry, the comment referred to "though a few lead-clad undead wouldn't go amiss.". Or is trying to counter on a conceptual level to much playing the fey's game?

Ah. Yeah, that works. And no, trying to mitigate their strengths is never wrong.

Though Lead-Clad undead should be pretty much invisible to any magic means of detection. They are mindless, divination-proof and don't emit negative energy.

Part MMMCDXXI: Timely Strife and Timeless Soldiers
Timely Strife and Timeless Soldiers

Twenty Fifth Day of the Twelfth Month 293 AC

"How would we go about sowing strife among the various luminaries of the Court?" you ask after a moment. "Surely their differing philosophies would breed some conflict. Crimson against Green and Violet against Gold spring to mind at once. How strong is the Queen's grip while the King slumbers?"

"Less than she might wish but more than we might hope." It is Hermetia who replies. "Or at least so I heard." She looks around at the various sorcerers and fey wondering if one of them is of a mind to interrupt, but none does. From what little you can read upon the face of the Orphne Lord you suspect he is quite happy to surrender center stage. "The Court of Stars are exiles returning home, not invaders like demons and daemons. Fey... all fey are beings of two worlds, withdrawing into just the one, fading like children's tales from mortal memory pained them more than mortal words can say and the Queen lead them through that dark vale. She is the lantern of their long exile, they will not lightly abandon her, even those for whom gratitude is a foreign known dept."

"Yet they can still battle one Court with the other," Bloodraven's voice echoes in your mind once more. "I have only heard of duels between champions when one luminary infringes upon the domain of another, but if the transgression were grave enough there might be cause for true battle that would weaken and distract them all. The Crimson Court is the most easily stirred to battle, but if you can blind and befuddle their far-seeing eyes it is the Gold Court that would be most implacable."

Because they would be most convinced of their own infallibility. You recount the insight to the room at large as your own, met with thoughtful nods.

"A dead seer would be cause for concern, but one that is replaced and made to proclaim doom upon all the Court would be all the better," Zherys says, smiling without the smallest trace of mirth.

Lastly you discuss armies, what forces you could muster against the Court of Stars should it come to outright war. It is universally agreed upon that the legions would fare poorly fighting in the Feywild itself as would any other mortal armies, even with the banners guarding their minds your soldiers would have no defense against being twisted in time and sent back to wither and die as ages catch up to them. Among the deathless beings you can muster devils are counted most skilled in seeing through feints and playing their own, matching cunning forged in the fires of the Blood War against the wit and whimsy of faerie. Beyond that opinions differ however.

"I would not march your dead puppets into their halls no matter what skill the corpse-maker claims to have imbued them with," Soft Strider counsels. "The Elders remember the Great Enemy and possess still the weapons to fight that battle fearsomely."

"It costs you nothing but empty shells, let them squander their spells and arrows upon the unliving," Zherys shrugs. "Assuming the Old Gods are to be trusted to fight such a battle against those who were once kith and kin..."

"They are," you interject plainly. Bloodraven takes a dim view to usurping the responsibilities of a king and an even darker one to the notion of a kingdom trapped in endless mummery unable to grow, and even the Voices of the Green have learned the worth of change with all the new life that you had gifted them, from the Flesh Forges to the Great Tree and the countless Heart Trees in places where their power never before extended.

"Then set upon the Court of Stars root and leaf, thorn and vine," Zherys finishes. "Servitors are of course no less suited for this task than any other, but they are costly and generally limited in wit."

"Agreed," Lya nods. "Perhaps more living constructs... but even then the weakness to elemental chaos of the animating spirit makes them less than ideal to the task."

What do you do next?

OOC: I know I closed the last vote with very few votes, but I had the time to write and it did not look like it would garner too much discussion regardless.

Here's what I have.
Very rough estimation, but still focuses us on Slavers' Bay and Fey as the main parts of the month, with "grab the Thenns out" being a thing by the end.

@Azel, @Crake, is the below good enough for the purposes of dealing with the Lords as necessary?
I don't joke, I have no fucking idea on what/how you guys want to be done about these guys, and only slightly more understanding on what's our plans about CoS-Fey so far. I largely had to assign people by ear and Diplo scores :/

[] Teams that will investigate the effects of the pacts that already exist, find out where the rituals where enacted and how they are tied together ().
--- Vee, Orphne Lord, Riz'Neth, Melisande, Lya ? (depends on which RAs we haven't completed this month yet), 1 Mind-Dragon, Siduri of Dis (Wizard 12, Enchanter), Dirriz Bluecloak (Faerie Dragon Racial HD 3/Oracle 6), Mia/Anya/Shara the Inquisitors, Azema

[] Teams to contact those lords who rejected deals to ally.
--- Rhaella, Dany, 1 Mind-Dragon, Sandor Clegane,

[] Teams to negotiate with any lord who is being offered a pact right now or will soon be offered one to stop further pacts ().
--- Tyene, Rina, Kira Windgraced, Lya,

[] Deal with Fey Courts of:
-[] Gooldengrove (the one where there's a Driad-queen guarding a Feywild entrance)
--- Viserys, Sir Richard, Rhaella-ship's Driad, Soft Strider,
-[] Depths (asking for assistance from Merling King to smoothen things out and introduce us well).
--- Viserys, Sir Richard, the Breath Taker, Diana the Sea Sprite,
-[] Green (asking for assistance from Bloodraven to introduce us well)
--- Viserys, Sir Richard, Soft Strider

[] By the end of the month, evacuate the Thenns (via the Moonchaser)
--- Moonsong, also whoever's free to ensure the transport's safety at that point

[] Clear out the remaining barrows in the Thennlands.
--- Velen the Phoenix-birb, Tor the Shadow, Bloom the Brijidine, Xor, Alyssa Crowl (Ranger 13), Danar Crowl (Bard 6/Lyric Thaumaturge 7), Koron Redmane (Fighter 6/Barbarian 3), Valaena Velaryon (Magus 9), Ser Denys Trainer, Chun Ting Lo, Argo the Cunning Bull, Ser Criston Storm, Ceria "Storm", Mors 'Crowfood' Umber, Ser Bonifer Hasty, Ser Gerold 'Darkstar' Dayne, Yrael,

[] A task-group dedicated to managing the situation in Slavers' Bay.
--- Amrelath, Melisande, Garin, Malarys, Zherys, Waymar, Teana, Mereth (give her a Mindblank for the duration of taking part), 2 Mind Dragons, 1 Harbringer, Thoros of Myr (Paladin 10), Morwyn & Tuin - the drow assassins, Kennos of Kayce (Fighter 3/Paladin 7), Benerro (level 15+ cleric), Mercy of the Soul, Lady Saenena, The Seeker, 1x Umbral Stalker, Nuri

Minor Actions related to the above:
[] Grabbing any unaligned non-court Fey we get to know of.
[] Contacting the Wild Hunt, paying them as necessary for information and/or actions against Court of Stars.
[] After grabbing the Thenns, Viserys should visit the Giants and diplomance at them.

Yeah, but in our story, there the OG reassume the mantle of guardianship after millenia of .. not, allied with the forces of the true dragon and one and only king, using undead without a narrative spin could be a chink in our armor/story. And I think we need something like this, for the sheer scope of our ritual/response.
And on that level, the story counts also, not only the mechanics. ... Except we weave mechanics into story. ...

So much for stealing a faction of the Court of Stars, but civil war between them is looking very attractive now.

@DragonParadox, does Bloodraven have any intel about the Wildfae lords and knight for us?

You placed Melisandre both here and with the Fey.

Besides that, I'm not sure Zherys and Benerro can afford to go on long-term investigations, as this one still seems to be. They have other duties and are better used for short and decisive actions, where their power is better used without harming their day-to-day work.
-[] Gooldengrove (the one where there's a Driad-queen guarding a Feywild entrance)
--- Viserys, Sir Richard, Rhaella-ship's Driad, Soft Strider,
Rhaella doesn't like being away from her ship, which is still in Yi-Ti.

Besides that, we have to move back the tradefleet, now again loaded with wares and treasures as much as they where on the other way around.
That needs PC-level guards.

No fucking time to, j say.
Let's have Viserys lift the shit out of them via his dragon form, buffs, and Greater Teleport.

But no, seriously, we cant wait 2 more months for the ships to come back the usual way.
Fuck that.
