He's not in the Larder, so I think he was sacrificed.
He was sacrificed, I just don't remember what we asked Yss for in exchange.
I'm quite sure he was not sacrificed, because he never did anything to deserve that.
He never entered the Larder in that sense, as far as I remember.

Surely if we had tried sacrificing someone who didn't kill people, was in league with evil forces or did anything similarly terrible, one of our companions would have spoken up?
We kept him in Amber because he was quite impossible to trust, with his template and so, but we did nothing further.

[X] Azel

So, it seems like the chosen are mirroring their patrons very well, patronizing, filled with morality debates, and get nothing done other than lining their pockets and making people in power angry with them.

--[X] The meeting will take place in the heavily warded Hall of Horrors with the attendants further strengthening the warding with their own spellwork.
Added this. That room is already under epic level wards, so throwing Viserys, Lya, Zherys, Melisandre and maybe Bloodraven and two gods at making it more secure should shut out pretty much anything.

Forgot to respond to this earlier:
It's not really mind control, more suggestions in the back of one's mind, subtle ones. 'This is a squid planning to eat your brain, you might want to kill it' is a common one.
This is pretty much the ultimate worst case for me. So far I thought they were skewing probability in the favour of their stories, but this? This is absolutely haram.

Being able to whisper suggestions into every peasants ear amounts to complete control of the area. Just whisper everyone to resist the Dread Sorcerer Viserys Targaryen. Many will follow the suggestion, dragging the rest along by inertia. Instant peasant uprising.

We will fix this. No matter how many Fey we have to juice to do so.

Skewing probability is kind of what they are doing, after all the peasants are part of the story too.

-[X] Thank Lord Ashford for his time. You will play later at the feast as planned.
-[X] Send a maximum priority message to the House of Mirrors. They are to divine every landholder in the Reach:
--[X] Has this person made this pact with the Fey?
--[X] Does this person plan to do so?
--[X] Are there close family members who would do so?
--[X] Will this person be offered such a deal by the Fey?
--[X] Has this person rejected the deal?
-[X] Inform the following list of people of your findings. You need them or representatives of them for a war council at dawn to discuss measures to combat the CoS influence on the Reach.
--[X] Lya - The Archmage. Enough said.
--[X] Vee - Long history of working in the Fungus Forge and knowledgeable about nature. Should come in handy.
--[X] Softstrider, Glyra, Moonsong, Orphne Lord, Rhealla (Ship) - They are Fey and they are all loyal, so they should help a lot to get the perspective of our enemies.
--[X] Bloodraven - Representative of the Old Gods and I'd wager he is equally happy about the news as Viserys. Which is, not even the slightest bit.
--[X] Melisandre - Representative of Burny and a far traveled mage with tons of knowledge. Especially her shadow magic experience might prove helpful.
--[X] Yss - Because we might need some high-powered divinations and if this whole endeavour turns bloody, we will probably lean on him to unmake quite a few Fey.
--[X] Zathir - Same reason as the other gods.
--[X] Hermetia, Shara Rogare - Have interacted with the Fey in Lys for a good while by now, so they can add some helpful perspective.
--[X] Zherys - Has done a lot of research about the Fey of the Rhoyne and Ymery, so he is bound to have something useful to add.
--[X] Alyssa Redsail, Ferrengo Antharyo, Oberyn Sandviper - Previous experience with the Fey.
--[X] The meeting will take place in the heavily warded Hall of Horrors with the attendants further strengthening the warding with their own spellwork.
-[X] Speak discretely with Lord Ashfords mother to get her perspective on the situation.

Kind of have to agree. All the work with dropping enchanted leaflets to give the news to the peasants? The mirror viewscreens to get live action events from around the world? These and more are trumped by the fey's ability to whisper to every single person in a given area.

What's worse is that if these whispers are giving objectively good advice most of the time (like Illithid BAD, Demons BAD), the average person will be much more inclined to follow that advice even when it's bad. Do the fey need a bar brawl breaking out for flavor? The whisper can go (he was cheating!). It can be true advice and still be detrimental.

All it would take is enough whispers going (You know, the emperor is consorting with demons, summoning demons, making demonic deals for power). It would be more or less true, and could really harm our efforts in westeros.

Fey-pulping proposal: mass scale
Step 1) Fetch Yss (because unlike OGs, he's harder to retaliate against, lacking Heart Trees and such in Westeros) and feed him to brim with sacrifices (355 CL of items and 565 unmodified HD/496 unmodified total CR available).
Step 2) Break Utilise the crown of the Fey Lord recovered from a shipwreck to lay down the curse on all Fey sworn to Court of Stars - something akin to the following, really:
So you discover the secrets behind what had always struck you as an odd moment in history: Theon the Hungry Wolf's 'Scouring of Andalos.' How could northmen, few and with little skill at seamanship and few ships, bring such ruin to the rich lands that would one day be the Pentosi heartlands? Such scenes are vivid in the mind and the eye, frightful for a generation perhaps, but to have deterred Andal raiders forevermore, to have broken their heartlands always felt to you like an excess of the scribe's quill. However, Bloodraven tells that more than swords went into the doing of it.

Locked in a fortified septry guarded with more fervor than the towers of Andal lords, the Hungry Wolf found a chalice sacred to the Mother that flowed with life-giving water that could make any who drank of it fruitful and even make fields sprout in midwinter. The Stark took then this chalice and broke it before the Heart Tree of Winterfell with his sword before burning the pieces in a fire made with the bones of seven times seven Andal knights and their petty king Argos Seven Star together, all to work a mighty curse upon the invaders: fallow fields, cold hearths, and barren loins he wished to give them.
Step 3) Charge the curse with the remains of Tiamat's energy in the Well of Souls. Have our Gods lend a hand in controlling said force's direction if needed, but such a destructive bunch of energy is sure to enhance the curse's effect.
Step 4) Have Yss ensure the curse is pushed down hard and Fey don't get to maneuver around it metaphysically. Emphasize the "fair" in his "Trade" Domain. Sacrifices are mainly for that.
Step 5) Counter-invade their little fffucking fairy-space with lots of Junglerazer spells at hand.
Step 6) ??????
Step 7) Profit!

Sounds sensible enough, @everyone? :V
@DragonParadox, we can do the stuff described in that old-ass chapter, given a sufficiently powerful and connected item to sacrifice, yes?

Step 2) Break Utilise the crown of the Fey Lord recovered from a shipwreck to lay down the curse on all Fey sworn to Court of Stars - something akin to the following, really:
Keep in mind that many Fey have their own weight and power, even Mythic power for many lords and ladies.
I doubt cursing them is anywhere near as workable as peasants in Andalos.

Step 2) Break Utilise the crown of the Fey Lord recovered from a shipwreck to lay down the curse on all Fey sworn to Court of Stars - something akin to the following, really:
Jumping the gun for sure.

Our best case scenario is using the Crown of Flowers for negotiating with the Court of Stars and making them swear fealty and reversing all of this crap.

Eeeh, this is a bit of a "jumping the gun" indeed, but that's largely me throwing stuff at the wall.
Given the situation doesn't escalate on Warhammer/Worm-scale, there really won't be any need.

If it does, well, planning for a WMD beforehand is a good idea? Even if never used?
Well of Eternity kinda was that very way.

EDIT: today's a ninjaing day. G'night everyone, ninjas can't ninja me if I'm asleep.

It's not a fight they can win, but it's certainly one we can lose, if we don't play our cards right.

Not really. While war is certainly a possibility, jumping immediately to planning the nuclear option isn't that much of a help when we haven't even planned a proper response in general. Especially when we're trying to avoid the nuclear option if possible, though we won't shy from it if absolutely necessary.

Part MMMCDXXIV: Plans and Performances
Plans and Performances

Twenty Fourth Day of the Twelfth Month 293 AC

Part of you wants nothing more than to fly back to Sorcerer's Deep at once. The implication of the Court of Stars being able to reach so many minds at once to shape the Reach to their will even in the absence of their hoped for marriage are chilling. You do not even know how many lords might have taken the offer. Lya, for her skill at magic, Vee and Softstrider for their knowledge of the fey, Glyra, Moonsong, the Orphne Lord and the Queen Rhaella for actually being fey, each with their own perspective.... you already begin to formulate a list of the council you would need to gather. No, you cut yourself off. This has been happening for months, it can wait a few more hours while you play at the feast.

Troubling as the present realization is it does not mean you can forget your purpose at the tourney. If anything it has just become more urgent to ensure as many of the lords of the Reach fall on your side and not that of the Court of Stars. Moreover, you could probably do with an opportunity to speak to Lady Adara and perhaps obtain another perspective on this fey pact.

"Thank you for indulging my curiosity, my lord," you smile as you as you don the mask of Buttercup again. "I hope I am still invited to play at the feast this evening. I must confess I have never attended as a bard before but..."

"Then how...?" Lord Ashford's interruption trails off, as though he is not quite sure how you would take confusion over your musical skills.

"He cheats with magic... a lot," Dany proclaims in a dramatic mock whisper.

And with that good cheer is restored to your company, or at least to Owen Ashford who does not understand the full import of the news of what he had just shared.

***

Later than evening, just as you finish a raucous rendition of the Fisherman's Daughter, Rina approaches you alone, though she does not speak aloud perhaps for fear of sharp fey ears. Once more there are three lords and ladies of the Court in attendance including Ser Dregaire. "Why didn't you warn Lord Ashford about what the Court of Stars mean to do? They're using him..."

"That truth will not do us nor Lord Ashford much good this evening,"
you counter. "If we were to tell him he either refuses to believe that those he sees as benefactors could be seeking to usurp the fates of his fief and we would lose a great deal of goodwill or he believes us, in which case we have shown our hands to the Court of Stars with Ser Owen tangled in the middle of all this with a fey pact hanging over his head."

Rina's expression is not pleased, but she obviously sees your point. "He would be rather poor at trying to keep the knowledge off his face even with the ring to guard his mind, wouldn't he?" Her gaze drifts over the candlelit feast hall. "Perhaps his mother might shed some more light on this pact..." a sort of wry humor enters her thoughts. Assuming she will even deign to speak to Buttercup the Bard and the false lady her son crowned today.

How do you question Lady Adara Ashford?

OOC: The reason I need exact questions here is because it would kind of defeat the purpose of the mind blank ring for Lord Ashford if you guys just turned around and asked his un-warded mother questions about the fey as Viserys, so surreptitious questioning it is.

[X] As Buttercup, trying to gain the favour of the lady and thus inadvertently steering the topic to her opinion of the Fey.

Here's an edited version of the chapter, DP.
