The second was that the magical advisor was relieved that Bu Gai didn't just pick a fight with us by asking for something which is, without the context of our strength, was really audacious. And you didn't show Bu Gai's reaction to the threat, giving the impression if Bu Gai didn't take the dragonlord girl seriously before, he does now.

Whereas the advisor doesn't have a head for that kind of subtlety.
Haha, yeah, I got a good chuckle at his reaction. There was a definite sense of "unpuckering" after Valaena responded. :V

It's funny because it wasn't intended as a reassurance in the least. It was "he'll feed you your own asshole if you try to take advantage of him", basically, but more politely spoken.

Yeah, still can't get over of how smooth that phrase was. Such a roundabout way...

See, this is why I hate Intrigue. I hate the fact that I loved it but can't apply nor replicate it worth a shit. I'm more a kin to a Berserker and Blood Knight in my approach.

Tinkering with human psychology like this has and always been a fascinating thing for me.

His pleasant mood did not last long as Nuri turned to him, curiosity flickering like embers in her eyes. "So you had a ritual to hatch them already, but did not do it lest Tiamat be able to meddle in it, right? Clever that, where did you get the lore?"
Just noticed this, but even Nuri wouldn't be so diplomatically blunt that she wouldn't realize how bad an idea it is to say the actual name of a Goddess who can clairvoyance at will anywhere her name is uttered. She does pride herself on her intrigue capabilities after all.

  1. A comprehensive understanding of the shugenja
  2. Spirit Lore of Yi Ti
  3. Knowledge of Wu Jen Training methods and traditions
  4. Knowledge of the Shadowlands and the Bloodstone Emperor
  5. Shugenja developed method of hatching and taming Valyrian Dragons
  6. History of the Yellow Dynasty
  7. Ancient history of the Golden Empire
  8. Lore of the Bloodless Men
  9. A Comprehensive History of Leng including seals of introduction to the two states therein
  10. High Quality maps of the lands East of the Bone Mountains
So, what does any of that mean for us in practice, @DragonParadox?

Are you going to write up lore-posts on most of the subjects along the way?

Are any of them :turian:mechanical :turian: increases?

It probably means that the group can now make Knowledge checks on Yi Tish monsters and gribblies and expect to ping them instead of just "*shrug* Lol you don't know, weeaboo shit!"

She can also do that when one of her domains is concerned, so talking about dragons would suffice.

Like okay, a more comprehensive break-down of what this gives us in actuality:

  1. A comprehensive understanding of the shugenja = We now get fluff on how they fit into the setting, like how they slot into the greater lore of the entire quest basically.
  2. Spirit Lore of Yi Ti = Can now make Knowledge checks and expect a response other than "lol nope"
  3. Knowledge of Wu Jen Training methods and traditions = Can now train Wu Jen.
  4. Knowledge of the Shadowlands and the Bloodstone Emperor = Lore + maybe some Knowledge checks made passable, both for magic we might encounter and for creatures.
  5. Shugenja developed method of hatching and taming Valyrian Dragons = Might have some mechanical effect, depends on DP.
  6. History of the Yellow Dynasty = Lore and context for a possible ally or threat before we even meet them.
  7. Ancient history of the Golden Empire = More lore to fit into the context of the quest.
  8. Lore of the Bloodless Men = Knowledge checks made passable. Again.
  9. A Comprehensive History of Leng including seals of introduction to the two states therein = Diplomatic capital.
  10. High Quality maps of the lands East of the Bone Mountains = This will have some minor mechanical effect where spells are concerned, but mostly it just eases a few things in the background.

This seems like some kind of leap of logic. I'm sure you've got some basis for your argument, but that basically means that we are always divinable by her, which is clearly proven to be false.

More likely it has to be her name. She can approach dragons that are just being birthed for reasons related to her domain, but the clairvoyance specifically would be abused to make all of our schemes utterly transparent to her by the logic you're using, which is patently false as I believe that the Palace is just as warded as we are, yet those wards only fail due to the divine ability related to the utterance of her name.

If she could casually throw that power around from any other invocation, we would have found nothing in Sarnor or Yi Ti but weeds.

Remote Sensing

As a standard action, a deity of rank 1 or higher can perceive everything within a radius of one mile per rank around any of its worshipers, holy sites, or other objects or locales sacred to the deity. This supernatural effect can also be centered on any place where someone speaks the deity's name or title for up to 1 hour after the name is spoken, and at any location when an event related to the deity's portfolio occurs. The remote sensing power can cross planes and penetrate any barrier except a divine shield (described in Salient Divine Abilities) or an area otherwise blocked by a deity of equal or higher rank. Remote sensing is not fooled by misdirection or nondetection or similar spells, and it does not create a magical sensor that other creatures can detect. A deity can extend its senses to two or more remote locations at once (depending on divine rank) and still sense what's going on nearby.

Once a deity chooses a remote location to sense, it automatically receives sensory information from that location until it chooses a new location to sense, or until it can't sense the location.

It propably takes her some effort, I guess?

Well I'll be damned. 🤔

It's unfortunatly rather uncertain what " event related to the deity's portfolio " is.

Is any casting of magic enough to be noticed by someone with the Magic domain?
Is being a Dragon enough to constantly trigger Dragon domain?

I suspect it might work like this, but even deities have limited attention span, so they rarely react to such broad events, while listening to their name more closely.

Talking about Dragons doesn't really seem to extend into "an event relating to her portfolio occurring" territory to me.

Maybe the creation of a new Dragon species, the death of a powerful Dragon, a mortal Sorcerer coming into his birthright and beginning the journey to becoming a Dragon, etc., those fit and would likely attract her attention.

I think the bigger thing restricting her is her duality with Bahamut. If she exercises this kind of thing over the Dragon Domain, that gives Bahamut one move to do the same.
