Eh, good enough a point, and we need Lya to buff up properly anyway.Let's brings some friends with us as I don't feel totally comfortable going to Dragonstone by Viserys' lonesome.
I thought those we Linnorm knockoffs. Are they something else?@DragonParadox, given how deep the implied power of a Firewyrm is in this setting (seriously, needing a full Flight of Dragonlords to control one?) what is their CR when full grown?
They are definitely not Linnorms.I thought those we Linnorm knockoffs. Are they something else?
I mean the magma things in Valyria sounded like a reskinned non sapient Tor Linorm. Maybe weaker and with wings I dont remember very well. They are definitely not Linnorms.
EDIT: Though I'd love to kill Linnorms at some point.
They might look similar, but their intelligence would have to be lower than three or we'd have heard a lot more about them both in canon and in the quest. Also DP would have linked it since we passed the knowledge check to recognize what a Firewyrm is back when Ymeri was about to wake up the one under Volantis.I mean the magma things in Valyria sounded like a reskinned non sapient Tor Linorm. Agreed, @Crake. Viserys might be the one meditating alone on the peak itself, but it would be sloppy for him not to bring backup. Richard, Dany, and Lya would be my preferences, if possible.Eh, good enough a point, and we need Lya to buff up properly anyway.
@Crake, mind adding?
Bottom line, she's the best chance of us not getting totally fucked over soul-wise if something goes really wrong.

Do we have a rough idea of the CR since Saenena has personal experience with them (where else would the egg come from?) and Viserys apparently made that knowledge check?I can confirm this from what Viserys knows IC, firewyrms were not sentient, they had to be herded into laying down the straight roads by magic and dragonfire.

It's interesting that they could be herded with Dragon fire. Were they not immune to Fire, or was it an instictive or built-in behavior to shy away from the flame?I can confirm this from what Viserys knows IC, firewyrms were not sentient, they had to be herded into laying down the straight roads by magic and dragonfire.
They burrow in volcanos, so Fire Immunity is a safe bet. Not sure about others.Would Viserys know the immunities and resistances of such a thing or is that no dice?
Ah, the AdvancedI can confirm this from what Viserys knows IC, firewyrms were not sentient, they had to be herded into laying down the straight roads by magic and dragonfire.
Ah, the AdvancedRussianValyrian Technologies.
Truly, they have no match.
Well, they are admittedly efficient about the use of their time, if nothing else...
Would Viserys know the immunities and resistances of such a thing or is that no dice?
I have an idea in mind for this thing now. Dragon immunities...how interesting.Fire immunity certainly, they might also have the usual suite of draconic imunities to sleep and paralyses too.
I think it's something far older than that. Are fire Wyrms actually different than red dragons? For all we know, they could be the remains of the oldest living reds; the ones that were wyrmlings/young adults when the curse hit.
Edit: thinking on it, I'd bet that it's something at the very least related to dragons. For Valyria the secret ingredient is always dragons (or devils I suppose). If not leftover dragons from the revolution, then perhaps some kind of devil-feral dragon cross.
She was crafted from a snakelike creature native to Prime Material, one with a kinship to fire.Alas that the spirit of those days did not endure. It came to be that one day a spirit of fire whose name is not spoken even among his benighted kind looked upon the Garden with greed and lust in his heart and wished it for his own, yet he could not break his word freely given before the Concord of Singers. And so he devised a plan twisted as a serpent's coils, for indeed he raised up a serpent from the mud and bequeathed upon the power of Song and breathed into it fire, and wings did the serpent grow like the birds of the air and claws like the beasts of the land.
The Nameless One said to her: "You, my faithful servant, shall roost in the high places of the world and carve deep through the heart of the mountains, and even flame you shall not fear, and when all is in readiness you and your kin shall call me forth and I shall be lord of this place." Only of the seas he spoke not for over them he had no power.
I agree with this vote.Proposed level up for Maelor. I agree with @TalonofAnathrax that we should go with Nauseating Blast for his new Greater Invocation. Nausea is a very effective way to shut an enemy down.
Greater Blink is another great spell Maelor could sorta inherit from Viserys. It's got great defensive and utility properties. We'll give him an upgraded pair of Boots of the Wide Earth to give him access to Teleport. Teleport is of limited use to him in the City of Brass right now due to the city-wide wards.

Are you suggesting that these are the Nameless One's prototypes for Tiamat, or Tiamat's prototypes for dragons?I think it's something far older than that.
Look at this one variant of Tiamat's origin story:
She was crafted from a snakelike creature native to Prime Material, one with a kinship to fire.
Also @DragonParadox, no response for the rough CR of a Firewyrm? If we know about it IC we should have the info OOC.
