Done.Ah, almost forgot.
@Goldfish, mind adding the
we have jn Larder to this?
We kept it specifically to sacrifice to MK, but it doesn't really have any special use outside of that.
Would still count as something decent for MK, I'd say.
I'm just more interested in immediate gains from upgrading Well of Souls with a bit more power, since we will get more captive Psionics and Aberrations once the war starts.@egoo, I'm not going to say more then that right now, but some research in psionics might open up interesting projects with the Mind Devourer. It's a bit on the rarer side as far as potential research subjects go.
Precisely my concern. The good luck was unfortunately wasted on Relath, though the bonus feat is certainly nice.I don't think we should have Relath take the Psion retraining. He would end up with shittier Sorcerer magic and low level psionic manifesting. Not worth it, IMO.
Fair enough, just wanted to say that it might have other uses then as a sacrifice.I'm just more interested in immediate gains from upgrading Well of Souls with a bit more power, since we will get more captive Psionics and Aberrations once the war starts.
And we are highly unlikely to do our avaliable Psionic Research in next 2 to 4 months, anyway.

@Goldfish @egoo I agree with Azel on this one. This thing was originally intended for the Merling King, but now circumstances have changed pretty drastically since then. A CR 16 sacrifice isn't going to make that much of a difference in power compared to managing to get a stillborn Elder Brain which has to be CR 20-something.I don't think we should have Relath take the Psion retraining. Done.
We aren't going to finish that required research for months and months.@Goldfish @egoo I agree with Azel on this one. This is the kind of test subject that would actually matter for researching psionics. It has thirteen levels of psion casting.
I agree with @egoo. We have a ton of other research options to work on, and we're likely to gain additional valid subjects in the coming months. Let's get as much out of this meeting with the Merling King as we can. If there is enough juice left over, there might be a boon involved, though I won't be holding my breath on that one.@Goldfish @egoo I agree with Azel on this one. ... It isn't just sitting in the Larder, dude. The research requires test subjects exactly like this if we want to do it at all. It research action was designed that way.We aren't going to finish that required research for months and months.
I refuse to let it lie in Larder for so long, while we can apply it instead for some more power against Tiamat.
There will be more, and better, test subjects.
Holding onto this one makes little sense.
The psionics research will go faster the more varied the test subjects. We're unlikely to face the same creatures over and over, and odds are in the heat of battle (especially with Azel back as a co-GM considering how that omake of Braavos invading Pentos went) it won't be a good idea to pause for capture, so I'm far less sure about getting more test subjects.I agree with @egoo. Yes, you did.
We got the Brainstealer Dragon and the Mind Worm.
Fine, fine, extra sacrifice removed from the plan.... It isn't just sitting in the Larder, dude. The research requires test subjects exactly like this if we want to do it at all. It research action was designed that way.
The power boost isn't going to be all that much better compared to what the Merling King will already get from a Stillborn Elder Brain, it's only CR 16.

EDIT: Especially considering that apparently Elder Brains or Ulitharids close to it are powerful enough to go, "Surprise! You're a Brainstealer Dragon now!" if they're close enough.
@Azel, your avatar is literally the Devil. You have made a point of being an Evil bastard for years now. One of your favourite talking points in this quest has been "stop with the stupid but morally comfortable attitudes, you've already done worse !"Why is everyone remarking about their fond memories of me being an Evil Bastard?

Look into Jeyne's body as base. Further will be augmented by Gith giving us more lore, yes, but it isn't about making wide variety of Psionics avaliable, but safely unloking some Psionics as a start.[] A Method to Madness: the body the Mind-Eaters crafted for Jeyne with infiltration in mind is an incredible piece of magic wholly unlike anything you've ever seen. Copying it won't be easy, but succeedin promises an ability to flesh-craft similar vessels as needed, granting you an in into mysteries of Psionic powers.
-[] Research into Psionic templates
(Progress: 40, Cost: 200.000 IM)
Sneks and Minddragons, nuff' saif.[] The Heavy Thoughts: The Mindspeak that some creatues wield in this day and age has proven it's utility time and time again - and finding a way to grant ability to use it holds great promise for various fields.
-[] Find a way to evoke ability for Telepathy in those without inante talent for it.
(Progress: 8, Cost: 7500 IM)
Entirely unrelated to Abominations.[] Mind's shackles, by blood cast off: By following along the secrets of Drow Flesh-crafters, attempt to create something the degenerate blood-drinkers only speculated about in their notes - a creature capable of twisting the reality in same and ways so different to magic Aberrations do - yet not bound to Outer realms.
-[] Adds Vampire, Psychic (CR+2) template, as possible creation in Fleshforge. Requires a functioning Flesh-forge. (Progress: 24, Cost: 26.000 IM)
Ye'r a traitor, Fishie.

What was the plan with the latter again? I saw a few good abilities it had but I don't remember the greater plan there
I missed the tags. 🤣 Now I have to go back and check.
First, corpses are okay, but they're not as good as live subjects. Second, it's not specified in the RA, but DP's word on the subject made it clear we get better results the more varied the test subjects. It's going to be all-out war.
Even in the worst-case situation, we'll be getting a lot of variety in psionic-capable corpses, and thanks to our Fungal Pods, Vee, and some support from Gith (books on basics of Psionics incoming next month), I'm sure we'll get Progress even if literally everythign dies.
Which is unlikely.
Captives will be happening, there's jsut too much varied fighting all around for them not to.
And yes, Azel being back here too terrifies me. Tiamat, Asmodeus and Illithids with him as co-dm... let's just say I'm mite bit nervous.
Also, no, the RAs we have avaliable don't have anything specified about the corpses
This is the only one I'm interested in, and it's what the aberration psionic test subjects are meant to aid. We look in to Jeyne to see how she was made untainted, and then poke at aberrations to see how their power works as well.Look into Jeyne's body as base. Further will be augmented by Gith giving us more lore, yes, but it isn't about making wide variety of Psionics avaliable, but safely unloking some Psionics as a start.
This is admittedly superfluous and not a priority in the slightest.
This I'm looking forward to but you're right in that it doesn't require any aberrations.
Barring special projects I suppose it gets tossed into the Research Psionics pile. What was the plan with the latter again? I saw a few good abilities it had but I don't remember the greater plan there
Sorry.
Huh. They don't seem to have survived the XenForo change. The "we're not evil just pragmatic" one is still there, however.
The Mind Worm unfortunately is equally valuable in psionics research.Sorry.
What about sacrificing the Mind Worm along with the aborted Elder Brain?
That's a shame.Huh. They don't seem to have survived the XenForo change. The "we're not evil just pragmatic" one is still there, however.
A shame. I remembered finding it amusing the first time.
