@TalonofAnathrax

You had me go looking at emanation effects and I stumbled on Ban Corruption.

You strip all creatures within the emanation of any gifts associated with corruptions. Abilities associated with corruptions cease to function, as if they were magically dispelled.

A new go to for anti-deep one effects? Some of these things are so effed up they can't survive without the corruption, do they just drop dead?

@DragonParadox ?

I'm waiting for Lya to have a chance to hit a powerful Aberration with her Return to Nature spell. Most Aberrations don't have good Fortitude save bonuses, IIRC, and Lya has a spell DC of 26 for 7th level Divine spells.

Return to Nature - Therafim RPG

Aberrations take 1d6 points of damage per caster level (maximum 20d6) and lose the use of all supernatural and spell-like abilities. A successful Fortitude save reduces the damage to half and negates the loss of abilities.

I wonder if a Grand Ritual based off this spell would be possible. Or maybe Mythic version acting like Baleful Polymorph? 20d6 isn't likely to kill any truly big bad mambajambas or even remove their ability to use their abilities, but it would basically kill every Spawn and Servitor in the area.

Alternatively, the equivalent of an electric fence powering this bad boy could make most cities safe. Each projector post could be embedded in a bastion, with the enchantments built in such a way that you would have to invest a large amount of resources to get close enough to damage it, and knocking out one doesn't knock out the others obviously. If you strategically place the fences cleverly, you could also funnel them down a narrow channel, making them have to do this several times instead of just blowing through one gap.

Ah, Timestop, the cheesiest cheese of all.
Temporal Acceleration is just bullshit for coming even close with as low level.
But that's Psionics for ya, I suppose.

I wonder how DP is going to counter that, eventually.
Maybe "Celerity + Timestop = timerifts" and/or "angry Inevitables showing up"?

There are few Inevitables remaining, true - but messing with the flow of time via 9th circle's spell isn't all that common either, I'd wager.

Spellbane is the most direct option.

Our Celerity-Timestop combo is dangerous, because we are helpless for a round while our allies are still frozen, so a foe immune to Timestop can hit us hard during our stun.

To be fair, our own Spellbane is also keyed to other Spellbanes, so given us winning the CL-contest (we have, what, effective CL of 23 or something? @Goldfish?), we are quite likely to go around that too, unless we fight another Aspect of Mammon or something.

That would limit the power of certain mutations (like abberant feats on humanoids) but it's not an I Win button against Deep Ones.

uses the Rod of the Battlemage to cast Flashburst as a Swift Action, positioning the burst to not only affect the Fishmen on the opposite side of the chamber, but also the Mind Worm and our draconic observer, if possible
Would a flashburst have effect through a glass window? Technically it cancels line of effect, but the spell works like a flahsbang - it's simply a bright flash.

Is there an arcane equivalent for the burrowing power metapsionic?

More like caster level 30 when all of VIserys' buffs and abilities are accounted for, assuming he was subjected to a Harmonic Chorus + Moment of Greatness effect at the time of casting, which he can apply himself or have Lya help with. If that wasn't used, it would only be caster level 26. And thanks to his Eldritch Breach Mythic power, he gets to make caster level checks twice, if necessary.

It might be able to, given the spell's secondary power. Even if it doesn't, it's a good way to temporarily hinder the other enemies, most of whom shouldn't be accustommed to bright light.

I don't think there is a Metamagic equivalent to Burrowing Power. Sure would have been convenient for us if there was.

    [X] Plan Opening Round
-[X] Relath casts Ancestral Awakening to learn the Invoke the Cerulean Sign and Hydrophobia spells.
-[X] Dany cancels her Sign buff to set her Initiative check to 24, then Dreamcasts a Repulsion spell set to repel any enemy who attempts to come within 50 feet of the group. She uses her Ring to Counterspell the first enemy spell to be cast as an Immediate Action.
-[X] Lya cancels her Heightened Awareness buff to gain a +4 bonus to Initiative and uses the Rod of the Battlemage to cast Flashburst as a Swift Action, positioning the burst to not only affect the Fishmen on the opposite side of the chamber, but also the Mind Worm and our draconic observer, if possible. She then casts Greater Black Tentacles as a Standard Action, making sure to encompass the entire floor of the chamber in the effect, as well as having the tentacles climb up the walls, to the limit of the spell's ability.
-[X] Viserys casts Heal on Dany, uses the Greater Staff of Quickening to cast Dragon's Roar, then uses Celerity to cast Time Stop. Once Viserys recovers from the effect of using Celerity, he casts Arcane Spellsurge as a Swift Action then uses Wild Arcana to cast Sphere of Ultimate Destruction, placing the Sphere in contact with the crystalline ceiling separating us from the Mind Worm, ready to begin boring a hole through to its location as soon as the Time Stop ends.
--[X] If the Time Stop persists another round, he casts End to Strife as a Swift Action using Wild Arcana, then expends a 9th level spell slot to Summon an Elder Water Elemental and sets it to immediately attack the Mind Worm when the Sphere breaks through to its location.
---[X] If the Time Stop persists another round, he uses Ancestral Awakening to learn the Sudden Maximize Metamagic feat as a Swift Action, then expends an 8th level spell slot to Summon 1d3 Greater Water Elementals to harry our enemies.
----[X] When Time Stop ends, Viserys targets any enemies who still live and are within Line of Sight & Effect with a Searing Agonizing Firebrand spell as a Swift Action then assumes True Dragon form as a Standard Action.

@Goldfish You know, the proposed counter of "join you in Timestop" might be worth some kind of automatic reactive defense item. It is dangerous to give an enemy a free hit while you eat Stun, but then it just becomes a climatic duel if you can guarantee you'll ward off a hit for a round.

Next tier, when Viserys learns Mythic Time Stop, he will be able to bring others into the effect. Then things will really get interesting.

Part MMMCXLIX: Time Enough for Battle
Time Enough for Battle

Eighteenth Day of the Eleventh Month 293 AC

To his credit Relath does not spend long trading barbs with his foe, you can hear his chanting behind you and know well the spell he utters, one to summon little used lore from the depths so that he may better slay his foes. Dany meanwhile turns her attention directly to the foe, pressing her hands against the water, molding as though from clay an unseen barrier to bar the warriors' path. Where the ripple of your sister's spell stops white hot flame bursts to life in defiance of the brine filled waters at Lya's command, streaking across the chamber of the eye to burst and befuddle the foe.

Most of the warriors and two of the mages find themselves blinking their wide dark-adapted eyes against the sudden radiance. Perhaps they had been the lucky ones ones, though, for Lya's spellcraft flows freely into another far more deadly spell against those her fire did not blind. Tendrils of coiling shadow reach out from the cavern walls to tether and squeeze, though one of the sorcerers still manages to slip free from their grip, a cloud of grayish mucus dripping in his wake.

As you reach out to heal Dany you feel him contest the spell, to pick it apart before it can come to be, but he proves too slow for the task, the golden light envelops your sister and healing the harm the Mind Worm had done.

Wrath flows through you, not the swift wildfire that burns where it will, but steady and true like molten steel waiting to be beaten into shape. You roar fit enough to shake the chamber, striking fear into your foes and buoying your friends and allies, not that they seem to need much of that...

A vast twisted shadow rises up from below, a thing of tattered wings and fleshy tendrils. Dragons come in many shapes and forms, from the sting-tailed Pseudodragon to the fearsome Wyvern and vain Drake. You have seen Dragons walk like men and even shaped into the form of weapons, but never had you witnessed such a perversion of the draconic form as that which Faerex had become. Glistening purple flesh in place of scales elongated into six grasping tentacles, wings turned translucent, almost insect-like, and pale yellow eyes filled with a fevered light.

Just as she is about to shatter the floor and no doubt cause a cascading explosion of brimstone and cursed salts, you twist time, taking with one hand and paying its price with the other. The world is still and silent, you are alone in this carefully spun bubble of distended time. As skillful a casting as any you have ever managed, some distant part of you notes, but now is not the time to congratulate yourself.

As your blood begins to pump swifter with the ancient call of battle you consider how to get the crystals out of the way without having to suffer the brunt of the blow. You remember the all-consuming darkness in the ruined halls of the Serpentfolk. To conjure forth even a pale shadow of that would be madness for most mages. Thankfully you are not most mages, and so you conjure forth two spheres of blackness and send them out, one above to strike the worm and one below to strike at the Dragon, though you do not intend to actually see Faerax slain by the spell her corpse might yet prove even more valuable than her hoard. You conjure forth an aura of blazing silver fire around you, making a note to warn Relath not to use his claws while it is empowered, then you grip and animate some of the waters to strike at distant foes.

Time flows again. Faerex flickers out of the way by the the strange almost felt powers of the mind and manifests fully in the chamber. "Foolish child, do you not know you are already dead?" her silken voice asks inside your mind. You remember the spell, the feeling of something trying to carve into your brain. Now as then you deny it and move to strike again, to end her madness and gain Relath his vengeance all in one.

What do you do next?

OOC: You guys got the full 4 rounds off the Time Stop. I figured a second Sphere of Annihilation to prevent the chamber from blowing up was worth more than the second Water Elemental summoning.
