"My lord wishes to speak to you on matters of trade and affairs of state," the dragon replies without a hint of resentment. In fact you suspect he is rather amused the spark of worry in the Herald's eye as she considers just what manner of being might secure the aligeance of a dragon, even a young one. Somehow you suspect 'an even younger dragon' does not occur to her.

How do you address Herald Anora?
Well, this is the time to reveal ourselves in full. That was the entire point of coming here first instead of seeing the markets beforehand.
Brilliant. I love this so much. Just the thought of worry at the idea of an Elder Dragon having the allegiance of Relath and then Viserys, barely 16 at this point, shows up.
:rofl::rofl: I forget all the time just how young Viserys is.

I'm trying to decide if it would be more or less polite to show her our full dragon form or to simply tell her.

On the one hand Dragons are not subtle, on the other she's the woman specifically tasked with dealing with the fuckers so one would think she's become quite desensitized to most forms of scaly bullshit.

Just by turning into a dragon and opening negotiations. She'd be surprised, sure, but she's also literally a dragon wrangler so I highly doubt she'll be awed.

We could always ask what her preference is in regards to form. If she wants humanoid or draconic. Whichever makes her feel more comfortable. Though why anyone sane would choose dragon form is beyond my understanding.

But not OUR brand of scaly bullshit. Probably what's going on inside her head:

"I have seen some stupid and ballsy acts. But making an enemy out of Mammon, Asmodeus, Tiamat, the Deep Ones, Deamons, Pitspawns, and the Efreeti at the same time is a WHOLE 'NOTHER BULLSHIT! HOW ARE YOU STILL ALIVE?!!"

I mean to be fair they started it.

We just plan on finishing it.

[X] Opening Negotiations
-[X] Step forward, shift into your true dragon form, and introduce yourself as Viserys Targaryen, King in the Plane of Balance.
-[X] You wish to speak of matters of state and trade between your realms. You are here on business but hope to open diplomatic ties.

@DragonParadox
1. Where can we get a copy of their legal system for our own use?
2. What services does the dragon wrangler offer?

I don't want to take Dragon form. It's just tacky. No, we can tell her we're a Dragon if we really have to, but I'd prefer to conduct negotiations while in human form.

Doing so would also be too reassuring for her. If she can't tell what we really are, we should let her wonder until she asks

On another note, it's better to negotiate with Medium Humanoids while wearing the form of a Medium Humanoid, not a Huge monster with a fear aura.

In True Dragon form, Viserys is Huge-sized. We might want to avoid breaking the nice lady's office.

I agree, @Duesal. We could simply say that Relath is the governor of one of our cities without outright claiming dragonhood, at least at first. If it becomes necessary or politically expedient, then we can share that detail.

I don't see what benefit this gives us. If we wanted to play this game we could have just gone shopping beforehand without meeting the local government.

Also I think our ability to keep our identity secret is being overestimated. If we want to have any negotiations worth a damn we have to say where we rule, and almost everyone in the planes knows about the Red Dragon in the Plane of Balance.

How do you want this to play out if we stubbornly don't reveal that we're a dragon? Half the point of coming here first was so the merchants wouldn't freak out about dealing with a Red Dragon thanks to the local government's seal of approval.

EDIT: I'm not saying no, I genuinely just don't see a benefit in this approach.

  1. You can just buy it from a public library
  2. Generally she i here to smooth over any disputes between dragons and non-dragons as well as be a liaison to the Guild Council

Forget "stubbornly not revealing that we're a Dragon". That was a joke.

But taking Dragon form during negotiations is rude, and starting with "I'm a Dragon" is tacky. No need to actively hide it or lie about it.

It's not rude at all. Context matters quite a bit here.

If your intent is "Bow before me you pathetic monkeys" then yes, it's rude, but if your intent is to get out of the way "Yes, I'm a dragon, yes I'm a red dragon sitting here civilly to discuss with you" then it's not rude in the slightest, especially if the person in question being address literally has a job to deal with dragons.

Personally I think it's less rude that simply stating what we are in human form and then making her check herself to determine the validity of our claim.

Keep in mind her job is to manage dragon relations, and dragons are by their very nature a temperamental lot, even the good ones.

Us saying "Yes we are a red dragon, no we are not crazy, this is what you're dealing with" is polite compared to what the usual dragon would do. I.E. stroll into town like he owned the place and everyone around him only exists due to his patience.

We're meeting the local government, opening ties, submitting to their authority. You can't really get more polite than that without a metric fuckton of gold, which if I remind you we currently have and intend to spend.

Exactly this. The way I see it, it's far more polite of us to openly declare beforehand what we are. It's the kind of thing I'd appreciate from any dragons visiting the Imperium, even if I doubt they'd accomodate.

I expect that we'd get our own diplomatic liaison soon considering we own the allegiance of one brine dragon and also happen to be a red dragon.

We may also want to check if the room can fit our whole dragon form, no need to pay for damages.
@DragonParadox, again, can you clarify whether or not the room is big enough for us? I think you missed the first time I asked.
I hope we dont just forget about the babies like we did the changelings
Selyse will die if we don't remember. Not only is she having triplets, but they're halfbreeds infused with negative energy. It doesn't matter that we can resurrect her, Garin would be pissed, especially since we can't bring the babies back if they die. Everyone is highly motivated to remember, rest assured.
