As far as he knows it's the opposite. The Void seeks absolutes, or one absolute at least, emptiness. The nameless are an aberration created by the fact that reality is not absolute.

Yeah I was a bit disappointed he did not have the chance to fully show off his skills. Still it's not many beings that can get Viserys to mentally ask 'What the Hells is going on'.

Sure.
For it to be lying it would have to know that it's lying, and that would show up in the book. The book would have every single thought recorded.

With Viserys fully buffed and it fully debuffed? Naah. Slap it with Greater Bestow Curses, Mindfog, the works.
Though.. turning such into a book does have a certain appeal.

And that's the part I question, for even the dead body bereft of soul and thought can still lie to us, as noted in the template.

That's only spelled out if it's dead as far as I can see. If it's turned into a book it's still alive. It could still try to lie, but when literally every thought it spelled out word for word then it's impossible to have none of the lies recognized for what they are. It's a powerful template, but it's also up against a level 9 spell.

Well both Miracle and Wish can be used to pry the truth from him and his corpse. So I imagine that once could use another Ninth level spell to do the same.

Sure, but I see it this way: We have one spell that can explicitly and certainly overcome the mindreading-defence of the template.
Why use a different one that may or may not work, depending on the GMs interpretation?

Its nature is inherently malleable. That's assuming it knows it's lying, rather than consistently and repeatedly rewriting it's own mind.
