The head priest of the Temple of Lys wasn't actually ambitious, he was mainly just devout. He's the same guy who kicked us out of his temple when we saved him using a token of the Merling King. He's also the same guy who we convinced the Tree of Lys wasn't direct blasphemy against R'hllor, so he can definitely be reasoned with, even if he's initially stubborn.

Oh right...that guy. Isn't this the temple where Garin was forced to make a deal with the Rhllor? I am suddenly remembering my Book of Grudges.

We don't know enough to confirm that Ymeri has been meddling here. I'm also not sure we should take an antagonistic approach to the temple when we have such good contacts in Thoros and Melisandre.
It's not really an antagonist approach. This is someone we've met twice and parted on good terms with, and he should understand why we need the Goblin Market under our control.

Yes, this is the same temple.

I wouldn't worry about Garin, though. That deal of his is probably going to be used in negotiations for R'hllor officially integrating into our pantheon.

Side note, please don't take Melisande off her task, she's helping Lya with Fey Lore and understanding R'hlor's Holy Book.
Both are fairly sizeable, and fairly important projects.

Fuck that, we'll pop an Unravelling right there and then if R'hlor tries to pull that card.
One does not blackmail (for a given defenition) a Dragon.

Do we really need them for this? This is just a short negotiation...

Assuming we dont turn up something juicy about this priest. Like WHY? he has the spindle in the first place -_-.

I had a feeling something like this was going on. Thoros, then.

 It's not blackmail. Simply using his leverage isn't blackmail. Now if he decides to threaten us with it? Then it's blackmail. Don't jump the gun.

By the way @DragonParadox, is it possible for Melisandre to lead a research project to purify the Corrupted Elder Fire Elemental for us and get us a minion out of it? How much progress would something like that take, and what tools would we need?

As long as he doesn't ask for some "First among Equals" bullshit I will be fine with this usage.
I don't think he will. His worshippers are changing him too fast. Especially in Sorcerer's Deep which DP described as "heresy everywhere". With other clerics running around and very much not false gods providing blessings and miracles, and with Weirwood Heart Trees in every province, all but the most fanatic (which is a small percentage of any religion when you get down to it) will have a shift of worshipping R'hllor as a fire god instead of as the only god.

Not to mention whatever impact us freeing all the slaves will have on him. I doubt that tenet of "All who live are slaves to R'hllor" will stick around.

We have a history with finding the most Aurane of Rhllor's priests, we might need the help.
As for the Spindle, those things are probably fated/enchanted to get lost, so they might not even know it's special.

This particular priest was diplomanced when we grew the Tree of Lys.

That said, he might be dead and we might be dealing with a replacement priest for all I know.

@Duesal I kinda doubt a single elder Elemental is worth the research time.
It's big, but ultimatly just an INT 6 living firestorm we have no reason to keep around.

Just sacrifice the stone and be done with it.

@DragonParadox, question about the City of Brass interludes -- what does Maelor plan to do about Fakir? Is there legal precedent for seeking redress via seizing all assets as your own, or will the Efreeti steal all our rightful loot?

Also can we get an idea of what kinds of slaves usually show up in the slave markets if we roll well or mediocre? Celestials, giants, genies, etc?

  1. There are legal ways he could approach this, but that would bring a lot of scrueeny onto the shop.
  2. Any fire aligned creature up to CR 10 and to a lesser degree anything you might find in the broken heavens.

I'm worried that any purification would also turn it back into a regular fire-elemental, which negates the unholy fire effect that's the only interesting thing about it.
Even that could be useful. Could help a lot with turning tainted flames and maybe even other elementals back into their pure forms. You know like those thorns?

Its CR5. And we can make one use items of elemental summoning with the delicate disks. Just chuck it to the purification research pile.

As for the launchers and other flame stuff? Personally I wanna research to see if we can 180 them all the way to Holy Flame Launchers and the like. Holy handgrenades of Wildfire anyone?

It could easily be a gateway research action to other things, like figuring out how to counter the influences of Ymeri, Efreeti, Devils, Asuras, Demons, etc. Purification is useful.
