Mel's a borderline case. She's a fanatic, but she's more than a two-dimensional character, and she's capable of changing her mind on pretty deep subjects, as evidenced by our first encounter with her.

She's a more delicate thread to untangle than say, Zherys, as the lines we would have to cross to make him lose his cool are pretty much ones we wouldn't bother crossing, but if she was a friend rather than merely an ally, we have more chance of convincing and counseling her than the usual reverse.

Shot in the dark, but I suspect @DragonParadox has intentionally kept further interactions brief because Mel's first serious conversation with Viserys resulted in him convincing her to do what was literally the impossible until a split-second before he did it. I think she's a bit wary.

I see.

Out of curiosity, would it be possible to reward Lady Whent's garrison for their valiance?

I was thinking of parceling out Knighthoods for putting up with being nearly hunted down and torn limb from limb by undead, for example. Lord knows we won't find many opportunities actually worthy of the distinction than that.
I really like this idea @Crake. They deserve the reward after going through that sort of hell and still standing firm.

Look, you can't work with paladins and clerics and then be unpleasantly surprised at the fact that they're fanatics. Of course they're fanatics. You want to make them subordinates to more secular PCs? Fine, feel free. That's a perfectly valid tactic. But having an aversion to them just because they're faithful to their deities is ridiculous if they've already shown a willingness to work with us.

I am not surprised and never indicated as such.

From the beginning I have been against the less-than-loyal to be the highest ranking member of an expedition.

Sure, that's entirely possible.

[X] Use Blood Wish to duplicate an Ooze Puppet spell targeting the largest of the Ooze Snakes.
-[X] Once the Ooze Snake is under control (subsequently referred to as Oozmond), use it to physically round up the rest of its smaller brethren. While they are distracted by Oozmond, everyone will carefully move past the gathered Oozes.
--[X] When everyone has passed the obstacle, Viserys will bring Oozmond to join the group while Malarys uses the Titan's Tools to place a Wall of Stone to block the corridor so the other Oozes cannot follow us. He will then use the Titan's Tools to transform the Wall of Stone to crystal clear quartz.
---[X] The group will continue on, accompanied by Oozmond, after Viserys uses his Orb of Mental Renewal to heal the Charisma damage from using Blood Wish.

BTW, @DragonParadox, this reminds me of something from a few chapters ago that I forgot to mention. In the plan to block the entrance to the Necropolis, I literally intended for us to just block off the passageway which lead to the subterranean structure, not build a massive wall around the entire area. It doesn't really matter, though, unless not having the passage fully blocked allows something to more easily sneak up on us while we are otherwise occupied.

I would prefer to secure a specimen now in case we need to move quickly in the future, also for what it's worth I also thought that's what would be happening with the Titan Tools.

Edit:

Also something to keep in mind is that Mad Sultan's Melody can fascinate this whole room of oozes if they don't listen to Oozmond.

We have Oozmond for the next 19 days unless he is slain, which shouldn't happen so long as we don't send him into combat.

You were responding to my reply to egoo's comment which expressed discomfort at the fanaticism, so I could only guess you held the same stance when you joined that conversation thread.
Wait, can't Daenerys Rebuke Oozes? Or did I dream that?
Her PrC had so many abilities, anyway...
I believe that may have been nerfed from her PrC.

As I said, if we need to move quickly like Teleporting away, I would rather have one on hand.

Please see edited in spell for backup plan.

Fair.

I'll keep Mad Sultan's Melody in mind for later, but there is only so many resources I'm willing to expend on Oozmond and his pals right now.

If we have to leave in a hurry, Viserys, Lya, and Vee can all cast Greater Teleport, and Malarys and Dany can both cast Teleport. If there is cause to leave in a hurry, we've got that covered. Also, between Viserys and Lya, we have eight Smoky Confinement scrolls, so we can bottle Oozmond at any time, if it proves necessary.

What is we used Mad Sultan's Melody instead of the Oozemond plan?
We could fascinate them, bottle one, and then nuke the others.

Ya'll know what I miss? It's such a small thing I feel silly complaining about it, but no longer seeing how many posts there are on the following pages of the thread is really bugging me.

Not as much as it does that I cannot get rid of the "Similar Threads" section at the bottom of the page, though.

I miss everything about the way bookmarks used to be.

Two reasons; first, Oozmond and company haven't shown themselves to be actively hostile and might in fact be sentient (that's a long shot, but not one we can completely rule out) and second, there is enough Lovecraftian horror stuff kicking around on Planetos and in the general cosmology that I am extremely wary of invoking any power which directly calls upon or mimics the power of anything associated with the Outer Gods, especially in a creepy ruined Necropolis on Magical Australia where a strange arcane device rests for which we do not know the purpose.

Also, it's actively damaging to one's mind to cast Mad Sultan's Melody. Nothing we can't cure easily enough, but still...
