Ah yes, the shipping wars will commence soon. Those are by record the most bloody and controversial affairs ever written. Good luck DragonParadox:cool:

I just realized something Lya could take alternating Wizard/Archivist levels and then get into Mystic Theurge. With both classes being int-based it would be perfect for her.

We will be shuffling a lot of skill points if we want Dragon-Blooded asap. Better get started on some major History training actions.

Eh, Mystic Theurge is only great if you gestalt. Otherwise it usually loses handily to a pure caster.

What's Vee's class again?

  1. True but it is very flexible and it would be in character for Lya
  2. Mystic
Well, I'd rather steer her towards pure Wiz. Unless we can cheese up something like Precocious Apprentice, taking a spell that is also a cleric spell and using that, plus any other Arcane spell, to qualify for Mystic Theurge, getting Wiz 3/ Mystic Theurge 1+?

Southern Magician also works for a lower entry, if she could take the feat as she qualifies or retrain it in before leveling up.

Or a less cheesy and pretty good option: Alternate Source Spell, she could take one level of Archivist, three of Wizard and qualify for Mystic Theurge for her fifth level.

Something like Archivist 1/ Wiz 3/ MT 2 would make for a very powerful and versatile character, level 3 Arcane spells and level 2 Divine spells at character level 6.

Could you link the crunch for that?

Alternative Source Spell
Type: Metamagic
Source: Dragon #325

You can prepare any of your spells as either divine or arcane.
Prerequisite: Ability to cast both divine and arcane spells.
Benefit: You can choose to prepare any of your divine spells as arcane spells or any of your arcane spells as divine spells. An alternative-sourced spell uses up a spell slot from the class that normally grants the spell. Such a spell is prepared normally. An alternative-sourced spell is cast as if your caster level were 1 level lower. For example, a 1st-level cleric/6th-level wizard casts a divine fireball as a 5th-level wizard.

And given the prereqs for Mystic Theurge are:
Requirements
Skills: Knowledge (arcana) 6 ranks , Knowledge (religion) 6 ranks

Spells: Able to cast 2nd-level divine spells and 2nd-level arcane spells.

She'd qualify as Archivist 1/Wiz 3 if I did my math right.

That fits the character and her preoccupation with analyzing and finding the source of magic. You can use this.

For that matter I'll make her spell-book the same for both arcane and divine spells.

This has been one productive day in our Quest for power here in A Sword Without a Hilt, huh?

Like, since the beginning we've been running like headless chickens and in a day we have directions for the next 10-12 levels.

Thanks to a great prestige class you wrote up!
And if we can get Lya to be Mystic Theurge it would be great, and quite fitting, I think.

Part LXXXVII: Shadow over the Swamp Part Four
Shadow over the Swamp Part Four

Twelfth Day of the First Month 290 AC

Is is getting close to nightfall by the time Vee leads you to the village you are here to investigate. It is a collection of ancient looking moss-covered shacks, some on stilts with the others precariously perched on drier patches of ground.

When you prompt the young girl to explain what she knows she responds hesitantly: "Used be I'd come 'ere sometimes to... look at the people, quiet-like. I thought..." She stops for a moment. "Doesn't really matter what I though since they're gone." Her voice sounds suspiciously close to breaking.

"Gone?" You ask as gently as you can

"Came one day, no one was moving around. Waited 'till noon, nothing. Then I tried to convince a tush to fly over and have a look-see through the stutters, he was too scared to do it. All the animals are but they can't say why 'cause they're animals 'n' not-people smart even if you can talk to 'em. They just say it's wrong. That's when I figured it was some sort of bad magery 'n' thought to get you"

She looks at you very hopefully from under her wild mop of messy hair. How did you end up the hero of the piece exactly?

You suddenly remember your mother once telling you about how her grandfather Aegon the Fifth defined adventure: someone else in deep trouble far away. When you first heard this as a boy of six or so you giggled at it. Right now you sympathize with the boy known as Egg in his youth far more than you ever thought you would.

How do you proceed?

[] Scout out the hamlet in Draconic form
-[] Write in which

[] Send Varys in to scout

[] Enter in force with all your companions
-[] In human shape
-[] In Felldrake shape

[] Write-in

OOC: The adventure begins.

Does he have flight ?
Our fastest one.

However, Pseudragon is nigh invisible in the forest, has twice the bonus Shadow has in Hide. He is also a better flyer.

We'd be rolling 1d20 + 20 for stealth, if we pick Pseudodragon,

[X] Ask for Augury
