That had not, however, been the only thing the Chosen had brought forth from the depths of the Rainwood. "The sword shines like the sun when she holds it, I tells you, and it's light as a feather, too. Belonged to Aemon the Dragonknight or maybe even Galladon of Morn," one man declares, speaking of the weapon Brienne now bears. "I heard that when she points it at a man's heart, he can't speak no words but the Gods' honest truth. That will be a great use to her when she's Lady of Evenfall."
Well, Aemon the Dragonknight's sword was our lovely Dark Sister, so that's an obvious no.

The thing with Galladon of Morn's sword Just Maid is that for whatever reason he only used it three times, one of which was to slay a dragon. Brienne has been using her sword, so it probably isn't the same one Galladon has been using. It could very well be a lesser blade Galladon used when he didn't want to expend his uber artifact, though.

You say that, but Azel and Snowfire managed a mutual murder-suicide that almost made DP quit the quest, in private.
I really wish we'd been able to see the exchange... I'm very very curious about what was going on!
Ah well, life goes on. It's probably unimportant now anyway.

It was not anything too bad in and of itself, it just hit me hard that I had managed to hurt my friends by my failings as a writer and a GM. For a while here I was not sure if I could get things to a happier place, but right now I think this has once again become a place we can all just have fun and unwind.

It could simply be an old enchanted sword. Lots of magic weapons in D&D have an unfortunate habit of glowing.

It's like crafters never imagined the wielders of their weapons might wish to sneak up on an enemy in the dead of night without giving away their position.

That's... very unfortunate. I mean things like Oathkeeper I get, that sword is literally on fire, but giving away your position through a glowing sword is a hell of a tactical disadvantage.

Fortunately it can be circumvented via Greater Ribbon of Disguise.

They weren't made for those who do solo work, they were meant to be a rallying point much like a banner.

If they are smart those crafters also sell Booty the Boot DaggerTM copies at a premium :V

And that's the insidiousness!
Don't forget, we were painted as 'THE END' by the Seven.
If you asked Lucan which whom he'd rather make a deal, Viserys or Asmodeus, I think he would answer 'Asmodeus', because with him he knows to check in triplicate. And then again.
We got Lucan to cool down with that shit, he's still far from not being our enemy, but when we talked with him, he admitted that we are a good king for the people, he's just not sure if our style of kingship, is compatible with the Faith of the Seven, and for him the gods are just as important as all the people combined, so even if our realm would be better for the people, if it comes at the cost of things becoming much worse for the Seven, he will oppose it, but he would still much rather deal with us, than the likes of Asmodeus.

So I'm thinking of doing a Harenhall interlude next and i think it will have to be a Melisandre one, there is just no way I see her taking the Misfits to confront King Haren. It would be only though extraordinary luck that they could even stay alive and she knows that.

Need more votes, ya'll. Either for my preferred initial meeting with Selwyn Tarth, or for trying to meet Brienne first.

It's a habit she better get into. The enemies she faces will not get easier from here.
No, but XP-hogging is an amazing way to level-up quickly if you've got a build that can survive the attempt. So maybe she'll get more powerful after this!
I'm not saying she'll level right here today, but I am saying that a solo PC definitely advances faster than a non-solo one.

For example, I may have mentioned that in my last real, full 3.5 campaign (ended a few months ago having reached lv20 and being unwilling to start Epic) I was a Beguiler/Unseen Seer/Shadowcraft Mage/Wyrm Wizard ?
I ended up playing a lot of that as a one-player campaign going through adventures designed for several PCs, simply by exploiting my insane stealth (+magic, Diplo and even ability to create Delicate Disc stockpiles for free after level 10) and being cautious. The insane rate of XP growth it allowed me was very nice !
It definitely required a lot of preparation and a specific build (without the stealth focus I would have been dead) and sometimes I had to take the long way around because I had difficulty providing the kind of instant, deadly and precise force that a full party can. Nevertheless, some builds absolutely can go into super dangerous encounters solo !

And Melisandre may well be one. She can cast several spells/mysteries a round, she can counter spellcasters and avoid physical damage, and she has good AoE and single-target damage. At lower levels she would have needed meatshields and all, but right now? She should be able to turn any fight into a 1v1 relatively easily, and from there she should dominate simply through her superior action economy abuse.
She sort of lacks stamina to do a full dungeon, but that isn't exactly necessary here...

This is a world where the stronger monsters are slinging permadeath. She has a good build, sure. But so do a lot of the monsters. This is a horrible habit to be getting into regardless of how strong she is.

@DragonParadox, do the legends talk about what kind of dragon Galladon of Morn killed and where its bones are?

Not in any meaningful detail, for that matter considering the age of the legends it may not even have been a dragon with that part tacked on after the conquest just like the knight part was added after the coming of the Andals.

Anyway Harenhall delayed I still have a lot of mechanics to handle before hand. YI Ti fleet interlude next.
