Jorah probably won't take the black though. I expect him to take the noose.
Furthermore, my plan was a political move. Being seen peacefully delivering a prisoner in Winterfell or even just Bear Island is a PR win. We can leave immediately afterwards of course (no need to stick around and talk) but doing it visibly is the goal here.
I would rather do all this in the background without ever involving Winterfell or the Starks, if possible. Ned won't welcome us into his home and it doesn't really gain us anything from a political standpoint to show up on his doorstep in this instance.

It seems to me that arranging things in a semi-normal way, at least partially using "ravens" to contact Maege, is the more diplomatic approach. Jeor serves as a useful middleman in that regard, while also giving him a chance to be involved, at least peripherally, with his son's return to the North. Like with the Umbers, this allows us to further diplomance the North right out from under the Starks' nose.

Pretty much. Showing that we can get an agent right to a piss drunk Robert is brazenly broadcasting to all of Essos that we can kill him whenever we want and that there is nothing anyone could do about it.

I mean... we got Amrelath and we just shown the world what a bunch of knights like the Kingsguard can do against him. The answer is "fuck all".
I kind of regret that Relath didn't compete. While not quite on Amrelath's level, it would make the world go, "HE'S GOT TWO OF THEM?!"'

Frankly, Amrelath probably spawned his own rumors with that fight.

Viserys is so fucking Dragon, he's got a Dragon serving him to be a Dragon for him whilst he Dragons.

A... Double Dragon, if you will.

People, I'm NOT being Diplomatic. I'm making Robert more angry at Ned, increasing the odds that he'll do something stupid on the way North.
I'm not aiming for a PR victory against the North, I'm aiming for one against the South! I want people down there to think that Stark is conspiring with us.

I don't want us to gain any PR from this. Best case scenario, no one beyond Team Bear, our people, Jeor & Aemon, Maege, and whoever she decides to share the story with will have any clue how Jorah was returned to the North. I would rather us have a reputation among Northern Lords and Ladies we deal with as a quietly competent operator, doing little to attract attention in the North or cause undue strife.

We have better ways to make Robert angry, if we wish to use them.

How many Dragons are we going to attack Pentos with?
Viserys -- Mature Adult True Red (and the King)
Daenerys -- Probably showing up as an Adult Quicksilver
Amrelath -- Mature Adult True Red
Relath -- Young Adult Brine
Harbinger -- Huge Wildfire/Valyrian Steel Construct Dragon
Heralds x3 -- Large Steel/Fire Construct Dragons
Sheepstealer -- Huge Valyrian Dragon ridden by Nettles
Dawnfire -- Valyrian Dragon as big as a horse ridden by Valaena Velaryon

And then we'll be resurrecting a bunch of Valyrian Dragons (like the Black Dread) and will be showing them off here.

Having thought for a moment...
I'm in no mood for any more politics right now.

[X] Goldfish

And @Goldfish, I get that you are excited, but for the love of god, can we at least throw a research action some next month on werebears and ensuring that no unintended metaphysical connections or weaknesses carry over with the disease, before applying it anywhere near en-mass?

I'm somewhat paranoid about intentionally spreading a magical disease/curse among our legioners, sue me.

Plus semi-dragons.

Call of the Twilight Defender

Spectral Dragon

And if we can target Varys independent of ourselves then Form of the X, Y, Z Dragon also.

As level 6 spells a couple of people can cast these so we could get another 4-6 in the air for the opening blitz without much impact to our staying power, Twilight Guardians dive bombing specified manses etc.

  • [X] Speak to the Mormont party about delivering Jorah (Will occur after their meeting with Amrelarth in the Circle)
-[X] Explain that it is within our power to contact Jeor Mormont at the Wall using magic. He can send one of the Lesser False Ravens entrusted to the Night Watch from there to Bear Island with a message for Maege to fill her in on the details which have transpired and to learn how she wishes Alysane to proceed now that Jorah has been captured.

-[X] Offer to Teleport them all back once the festival is done, wherever they need to be. If they suggest Winterfell or Bear Island, great! That's basically an invitation! If they're too cautious, say that you're reluctant to rudely drop into a Lord's lands without an invitation, but that you can drop them at the Wall. They can make their own way from there, guarding the prisoner themselves (there's 4 of them, after all).

It's not contagious among Afflicted Werebears. Those infected by Alysane would not be able to infect others.

I mean we are already killing his foster father. Might as well spread rumours about that idea. Then the pamphlets as he reaches Winterfell all culminating in an explosive finish of rage.

@Azel is on vacation y'all, and hasn't got a plan up for vote. Right now, the choice is between @TalonofAnathrax and me, unless someone presents an alternative.

Definitely no issue with blind bandwagoning in this thread, no siree.

I voted for Talon first because I read his plan as "pull a PR stunt" and I like that.

I voted for Goldfish because he had a different purpose which appealed to a different part of me, one which thinks that being understated and quietly competent will achieve more results than using the Northmen as props in a grand play.

We used Lyseni as mere pawns and stage pieces because there is little worth to their works that we will not overwrite with the weight of our cultural hegemony, and its place as a component to our direct oversight (Dorne being a vanity project, and the Three Daughters being money generators).

The North ultimately will see perhaps the most upheaval of all the Seven Kingdoms with us playing our lightest and kindest hand against them, simply by virtue of funding its settlement to better exploit its vast natural resources. The kind of friction this will produce will need to be countered by good will, every last scrap that we can afford, with a light weight in the back of each northern Lord's mind whispering "the Dragon hasn't steered me wrong or done me slight yet".

We have even treated Eddard with perhaps undue courtesy on a political level, but for personal reasons. And that if anything is just another component to our grand strategy--thinking ahead a generation, two or even three.

When the North refuses to march, it will be the North that falls out from the Starks, not the perfidious Targaryens who gave them no other option with underhanded, brazen ploys.

Our hands will be clean, because they will set the order of the day with only the lightest prompting.

And it will only add to our legend.
