We could always marry Maelor and Margaery...

I mean he is by all rights our apprentice and he will be quite the catch. May lessen the sting.
The Maiden Cleric wants to talk to the Three-Eyed-Crow. Though how she could honestly arrange that meeting through anyone but perhaps us I don't know.
Hopefully by then we have appeased the Old Gods enough that they might be willing to listen rather than the alternative.

I totally approve, he is basically our direct apprentice and near certain to gain lordship over a very valuable piece of land in the future.

If I was Tyrells I would focus a lot of marrying over a wide area in general so would have lots of general influence if not land. Land will matter less in our financial/magical world.

My desire is still to install him in the Southern Crownlands, which means him ruling from the Red Keep in our name.

If the Tyrells end up on our side, I'd be surprised if Mace and Olenna don't send Margaery to make friends with Dany, they're the same age group after all.

Raiding the Adamantine mine is definitely happening, I know that much. And we're also sending Maelor to get started on infiltrating the Bazaar of Beggars in Molten Skies.
Not quite. We're sending Malarys to purchase or lease a large business space in the City of Brass itself. Maelor is going to be the frontman for our business there.

To be fair, Mace isn't actually being a total idiot here. He's preparing his daughter as best he can and has, apparently, taken into account how important magic will be in the new world. That's a lot more than most in Westeros have.

It's just that Lya is better in every single way, and that's before we get into the whole 'mutual love and trust' thing.

True, but I think that bar is so low its playing limbo with the molemen

The queen of thorns must have been having a very stressful few years. Fey everywhere, devils and deep ones...
In that light, marrying Margaery to Viserys must have seemed like a perfect masterstroke. Leverage the Reach's wealth, power and Fey connections to marry the Dragon King, and then use him to keep the Fey and threats to the Reach in check?
Amazing !

Sadly the sheer scale of our ambitions and power means that the wealth and connections of the reach aren't worth our hand in marriage. And having Margaery seduce us (possibly with Fey gear or aid) would work well on most nobles, but... Not so much against a master do social-fu who usually seduces noble maidens by accident, let alone for power.

Good thing about trying to get Marg married to Viserys in Olenna's mind is he is powerful, smart and will be king. The bad news is he is smart and saw what they did during the rebellion and knows their situation in the Reach. Can see Olenna still see a marriage as the perfect thing for them but they don't know certain things like Lya.

Oh sure, but the fact that Mace has committed to having his daughter taught magic speaks volumes when compared to...oh, I don't know, literally every other major house in Westeros excepting Dorne. And it's not exactly fair to compare them given that they got an understanding of the power of sorcery really early, via their connections with us.
