I can't believe it. Crake was right. Also does that make the Reach screwing of our dynasty more intentional?
Yes. As I've laid out before, the only two explanations for Mace's behavior during the Rebellion are well groomed idiocy or treachery.

The "idiot" theory was just disproven, leaving fully intentional treachery.

I'm betting a Sovereign that if we parse through letters from the time, we will find out that the losses at the Trident that the Reach suffered were predominantly from houses that had a less then great relationship with the Tyrells.

I'm so fucking happy right now.

Now you all see. You see.

Perfidious Tyrell Treachery, as far as the eye can see.

Some part of me just wants to clap, leave saying we will be back in the future and then get all the debts they have for ourselves....Is that bad?

@Azel

Okay, so as much as I would like to rake them over the coals some more, if we're playing politics we have to have some sweet to go with the curdled sour.

Convincing them that the Fey can't protect anything that they have and in fact nearly allowed their complete ruin might be a good arrow but it is hardly sweet.

We just need one good reason for them to abandon the illusion of safety and political gain they are working toward right now after ripping that tablecloth thoroughly out from underneath them.

True but the orders to move to the trident would have been delivered much later. It's not like you have access to Rhaegar's correspondence to see if an order was sent earlier... or at least Mace does not think you do.

In actual fact you have Pycelle who probably has kept copies of every order Aerys sent.

Sounds like this collection is a prime target for the suite of study spells.

I'm still mulling over the best angle right now. Fact is, making a deal with us will just as painful as with the Fey. But on the other hand, we keep our word. If they fall in line, they are part of the hoard and will get our full aid and defense, no matter what.

They just need to pay off the debt accrued in the Rebellion.

For one thing, we're committed to reigning in the Fey. That would probably appeal to them on some level.

Malarys' Destined Love Interest (TM) seems to have been forgotten
Assuming that Varys and Best Uncles don't count as Lords or Ladies, what about Zherys? Or the Sealord?
Viserys is probably thinking of the non-mages. Lady Phassen is in a class of her own. Same for Zherys.

As for the Sealord, we lived in his city for a while, so he obviously had a huge leg up on everyone else thanks to that.

I am still laughing about the fact that they thought they could commit treason, bargain with the fey, beg us to bail them out of that deal, and then make Margaery queen. It's just so hilariously arrogant, especially with the Devils running around and them bleeding gold.

@Duesal got any specific plans or measures for reigning in the Fae or...?
I'm really, really hoping for negotiation as that would be the cleanest option. We can't have an entire kingdom at the mercy of a major court, those fey need to acknowledge and obey Imperial law while in our territory.

We have the Crown of Flowers, and Bloodraven said they'd send an envoy to us to attempt to negotiate for its return. Said envoy will presumably have the power to decide for the entire court.

We also have part of their court over the metaphorical barrel where it concerns devil worship. That helps.
