In those instances, they either used to be mindless or were created by a group that already practised regular slavery.

In our case, it's just one more bit of our ongoing efforts of showing up the gods.
Well not out of nowhere. It is pretty standard warforged lore in a lot of settings that they were made as a servitor race. Sure we've established in this setting that Viserys holds no such plans, bit this quest is legit longer than most book series at this point, so you could be forgiven for forgetting that scene.
Now I'm not sure why @firefrog600 though is was likely enough to be concerned about given the rest of... everything we've done, but he's a cautious sort I suppose.
I'm am very very very cautious.

Also look up eberron.

I think the more important thing to take away from the existence of a Reached Shivering Touch wand is that the Reach Spell Metamagic feat has a +2 level adjustment, while Shivering Touch is a 3rd level spell. Non-Epic wands cap out at 4th spell level. The only way that can work mechanically is if DP is using the Pathfinder version of Reach Spell, which is far superior to the D&D version. It allows a Touch spell to be used at range with only a +1 level adjustment.

If that is the case, Tyene is retraining Occular Spell next time she levels up in order to learn Reach Spell.

Hah...

You are fantastic and deplorable. Though I mean, that is just another thing that goes both ways, it's just that instead of you coming up with an idea and DP going "Guess I'll abuse the hell out of that too", it's the other way around. :V

[] Your uncle's existence has been rather unpleasant since he took up the mantle of the voice of the Old Gods. But you can do some things that will brighten up even his days.
-[] Having not tasted food in decades, your uncle will be sure to appreciate what your kingdom has to offer. In several chests and barrels of purification bring him various foods and beverages to taste, all from finely-cooked meals, to exotic fruits of summer isles and desserts of Essos.
-[] Have one of the Lotus Leshi send to him too, to hold conversations. A wide array of books you can be sure not known to Old Gods shall be taken in tow, so both have something new to find in rarest moments of respite.

Advancing a bit further on that one minor action we have no place for in current plan.
Sounds fine, @everyone? No objections/additions?

It's also possible that the wands are unique items with abilities outside your standard "magic mart bargain bin" fare, DP hinted as much.

It's even better than that, because I asked DP long ago if we could use the Pathfinder version, but he shot me down.

can that search spell check for swallowed or surgically implanted objects rigged with contingency spells
It should be able to find anything a Search check is capable of finding, and we could definitely find that sort of thing if we decided to vivisect Varys before extracting every bit of useful information from his brain.

Would love a Golden Company interlude about now. A soldier, Jon or Aegon would be great. Hearing Varys dead and thoughts of Viserys.

I am very proud of you for this line of reasoning. :D We will certainly be pursuing this now. If DP uses it for enemies then it's fair game for us.

At the very least we have a nuke option wand in the form of the shivering touch wand with wooping 40+ charges. I'm sure we will find plenty of enemies to use that one, specially since it would come out of utterly nowhere for most enemies since it's some kind of "legendary spell".

Flying islands are pretty terrible from an economics perspective. All of a sudden you have it impossible for traders without flying ships to reach the Stepstones. We don't want that sort of limitation on our economy, especially since this would cripple Sorcerer's Deep. Not to mention the strategic hazard in the event that magic is ever turned off. A falling island kills everyone on it.

Also, the Old Gods? They will not like their weirwoods being uprooted, I can promise you that.

I still think a sufficient pulley system would work fine, if not even better than a traditional port as you can raise goods straight into processing facilities as they don't give a crap about not being right on the dock anymore, much easier to traverse that linear space with a pulley guideline and gravity than oxe and cart.

That's an unnecessary complication for something we simply don't need, and it also doesn't change the fact that the Old Gods will not be pleased with their sacred trees being uprooted. We have quite a few trees on Sorcerer's Deep alone.

Wasn't arguing that, just always found it odd that trade was brought up as a concern when that seems the obvious development, could even be worth raising an artificial island for exactly the purpose of being a processing facility, can be out over the ocean and then raise goods to be sent by line out to various land based distribution points in a city, a significant fee can be paid to have a distribution point of your choice made if you process a lot of goods. Hardening Chamber makes it trivial to achieve the strength necessary in the highly mundane materials, we could churn this system out and all the high level magic it would take is to raise large mass occasionally.

This also let's us clean up the dockside a little more easily for tourism and leisure purposes, really take advantage of the waterfront.

...this thread sometimes!
From the salt over bespelling a toddler to dropping by one of the most powerful mortal in the world the next day for shits and giggles (Varys' of course).

And this, kids, is why you don't pop Celerity unless you absolutely have to.

This is not the first time this kind of thing happens, y'know.
Yeah, the last case of us overusing the spell assuming we'd take the enemy down in one round almost led to Lya being disintegrated. This occasion wasn't quite so close to disaster due to the rest of the party covering for us, but it was still a pretty awful fuckup.
