I'm thinking in the weeks leading up to the tournament, we have advertisers sent to all the major cities in Westeros and Essos hyping it up and bringing in competitors. Prizes start with land grants in the ex-Disputed Lands and Valaryian Steel blades, and go up to feats of magic from the Dragon King himself!

Hmm this seems like a plot for an story. A tournament is announced by the emperor and the plucky young heroes join it and gain the attention of the emperor and he gives them a grand quest and rewards. This sounds like the beginning of a dnd campaign.

I just want a cathartic scene with this! Is it too much to ask

The scene is sure sad, but I can't bring myself to care about Tor still.

My cathartic moment was finding him and killing him, after months of me worrying about him being a recurring enemy.

And lo and behold, he actually got to be one.
And he almost desintegrated Lya while at it

He made a stupid deal.
His very soul was deformed and twisted by Yss' Shadow.

He's no more the person that was a comrade of others in Windward society, than any other old Braavosi sorcerer is, nowadays.

I just want to be done with him, and no more remember his existence whatsoever.

The fact that Yss will answer some peculiar questions of ours for that is just a really neat bonus, honestly.

I feel for the Windward society, but they'll move on.
I really doubt their lives will be anything but exciting as fuck in out employ.

I kind of want to turn this into a Tournament Arc for maximum hilarity.

OK, things looks solid. Vote closed.

Several things:

1. For the tourney, meddling from our enemies is a guarantee (Lannisters, Devils, Deep Ones, etc), so we'll need to ramp up the divinations and security.
2. The smith should get a Ring of Sustenance. We need him working nonstop, but him killing himself through overworking will only waste a Raise Dead diamond.
3. I'd like to get around to expanding the arena specifically for the tournament. We already set aside the space for it, and now that we have millions of citizens and are about to hold a grand tournament this is the perfect time to finally do it.
4. For the ultimate grand prize of the tournament, to make it interesting, I was thinking of the following: 1 Valyrian Steel Greatsword (+2), 1 Reinforced Segmented Adamantine Fullplate (+1), 1 Healing Belt, 1 PfE Ring, 1 Hippogriff mount. The reason for this is it ups the stakes for everyone, including those who are mostly used to magic. This is a fantastic deal. Also it's something we could easily make happen, especially since we'll be buying Hippogriffs in bulk very shortly.

Also, we still need to go around Sothoryos and collect Triceratops mounts for our Minotaurs.

100 to 1 odds on Plucky Teenage Protagonists.
Put me down for 100 IM on a mixed bag of dysfunctional people.

A teenage squire who is inexplicably the leader, a female caster who openly detests him but they will get together later, a plucky comic relief and a broody tough guy that belongs to a minority.

No animal mascot?

Plucky Comic Relief will be provided by a Little Valryian, so he handily fills in for Animal Mascot as well.

Makes sense.

Of course this leaves out both the childhood friend (who as you know, loses in the end to first girl) and the equally hot-blooded/or optionally aloof and always-superior brooding rival.

Unless the token minority fits that category...

Those are rolled into one as they discover that the minion that keeps hounding them is actually the leads lost childhood friend and switches to the party after a few power of friendship speeches.

The resulting love triangle will then cause the mage and the boy to get together, prompting the rival to betray them, just to redeem herself in the final battle by giving her life for the leader.

Normal stuff.

@egoo, could you add a reminder to the minor actions to check in on the three fighter prototypes we are building towards the end of the month?

The Minor action still says that we will sacrifice Tor to Yss and ask other stuff. But I wanna free the Drow too.
egoo said he'd modify the wording, I think he just forgot. Drow takes priority over Tor. Tor's fate is sealed as far as I'm concerned. He's too great a threat to be worth us risking sparing him. There are less dangerous people to try to redeem than insane ones obsessed with our destruction who have evil gods backing them.
