Sooo ballistic projectile with a scroll of anti magic that triggers on impact?
The engines are redundant, you need more than one hit.

And if someone can hit several of our engines through all the armor with level-8 enchanted projectiles we have problems anyway.
In that case they could also be shooting Banishment-bolts to force our crew back to the material plane, or similar tricks.

Having Really Great Hair is clearly our real superpower. I don't think we could have accomplished half of what we have without looking like we walked out of a shampoo commercial. :V

Viserys doesn't have "bad hair days". He just has "less fantastic lighting" days.

Because his hair is still Really Great regardless of environmental ambiance. :V

Man... the minor actions vote is as big as the Turn Plan vote.

Of course half of that is collecting on former minor actions multiple turns later but still.

Maybe I can better illustrate my issue with a question to DP.

@DragonParadox
Could we get these crafters in this timeframe by throwing enough money at the issue?

Could we get the Lore option by throwing a roughly equivalent amount of money at the issue?

I expect his answers to be Yes and No respectively.
  1. Not really no, you are trying to convince a resonantly large group of people to move to another world to live under the rule of a red dragon. It is going to take some time to build the trust to get them to accept that the offer is genuine and negotiate their positions
  2. It depends on what lore you want

:sour:
Roughly half of it is details and crossing t's, so that there are no additional votes of "what do you want to do with X"-variety.
So that there is less "bloat", ye.

While Turn Plan is way more open-ended.

Shush, Duesal already is highly unmotivated to write any more Minor Actions henceforth, don't make this harder on me.

You know I still get the feeling all these super weapons are one anti magic field away from blowing up in our faces or atleast hurtling its crew to their doom. What is the countermeasure for that again?
Sooo ballistic projectile with a scroll of anti magic that triggers on impact?
An AMF couldn't knock out a AG Engine. Their containment is a Wall of Force, which is unimpressed by the AMF and since the projectile can't physically enter the engine, it can not affect enough of the volume to lower the generated lift below the safety margins. What is more threatening is containment failure due to a direct hit with Disintegrate or Disjunction. But to achieve that, you can't have your projectiles hit anything else then the containment or it will just vaporize a section of hull or internal structure. So you basically need to Disintegrate a hole through the whole vessel and then send another projectile right through that tunnel to hit the containment.

For the Moonchaser, such a hit would be deadly, but at this point you carved up a huge swath of the vessel like a turkey. The captain is likely to retreat due to the sustained samage long before you can get that direct hit.

The Dauntless design on the other hand has 8 AG-Engines and was designed with much more redundancy. It can loose 2 engines without exveeding the safety margins of the remaining 6. It could even loose a 3rd engine, but at this point the maximum acceleration drops significantly. Again, the captain is likely to retreat before even the second engine is lost.

So you basically need to destroy somewhere between 25% and 50% of the entire vessel before it actually crashes.

Not exactly a small order.

@Azel I'm not sure if you've seen this. I know we're probably set on AG drive, but the thought of an array of limbless, bound, magically lobotomized Vrocks serving as the lifting and propulsion units for the Moonchaser is amusing.

EDIT: Maybe they could be the propulsion unit for smaller vessels which are below the size threshold for an AG drive? If one Vrock can propel a ship as large as the Lirgen's Glory, if with some magical amplification, three or four of them should give a ship a nice bit of speed.

EDIT #2: I now foresee a possible future where Vrockpower is used as a measure of the strength of a vessel's engines.

I consider it a hilariously bad idea to power military combat crafts by sticking demons into them. That is a disaster waiting to happen.

I'll dig up my calculations for the AG-Engine on the weekend and see about designing something smaller.

Side note—when we give a look her own +1 Soulfire Mithral Buckler, we should also make her read a copy of Rina's book.
Journals of the Betrayed

Description:
Written in the elegant hand of a calligraphy wyrm, this set of journals nonetheless seems outright drab at first sight, plain brown covers marked by nothing but a number indicating where they should lie among the library of Dragon's Roost. One could not guess to look at them that within these pages lies a history of war madness and treachery written by one most dreadfully betrayed, now turning her own hand against the enemies of life.

Content: +5 to all knowledge rolls relating to the Others, their magic, and their interactions with mortals, A reader who studies all the volumes for one week and makes a DC 12 Intelligence or Wisdom check at the end gains a permanent +1 to saves against cold spells and necromancy, increased to +2 against the magic of the Winter-Touched specifically.
Anything to reduce the chance of the Cold spells getting to her.

We should also make all our Lesser Phoenix minions and Amrelath read the book.

I'm also considering getting Amrelath at least one Lesser Phoenix minion of his own, or someone, to basically be his own Alinor.

It would be a bad idea to pair a Phoneix with Amrelath, no matter how much he's changed from his original nature. Remember, those guys were willing to work simply for charitable donations to be made, and not even in their name.

Maybe give him a secretarial Elemental Wyrmling, or a cosmetically adjusted Greater False Raven to serve that purpose?

That was kind of why I was considering them at all—they're perfect. They're so great that Amrelath could get away with not paying them, but instead making his own domain more friendly and safe, etc. A minion who doesn't even ask to get paid is perfect for a dragon.

If we're ever giving her books, then I suggest that we also give her Xor's book. The best book ever written. Ten million sociologists and anthropologists and philosophers are dying of jealousy, but Xor finally wrote it! A "definitive guide to being human!"
Now someone should give it to Zuckerberg.

Then there's the fact that Amrelath actually got along with Bloom in Lyseos, if he can have civil discussions with a CG being, then he can work with Phoenixes.

@Goldfish, @Duesal, I just noticed that we can cram something the size of a Cessna into a single angular-gravity-field. So the main question is how to arm the thing.

???

I meant what kind of weapons we could install on such a thing as it's too small to make manually loaded weaponry that feasible.
Then I've got nothing.

Engineering seriously isn't my thing.

I'd be of more help if sacrifices were involved somehow. Maybe if you took a page from Goldfish's book and powered the whole thing with Vrock sacrifices...

A pair of 10th level Launchers. Each would cost 1,800 IM before discounts and have a range of 800 feet. We could connect each Launcher to a couple dedicated extradimensional ammo storage hoppers, each the equivalent of a Type 1 Bag of Holding (250 IM each before discounts) and able to hold 250 pounds of projectiles, one with a basic projectile, such as a scaled down APDS round and another with a specialized projectile, such as Explosive Pack or Sleep-Smoke rounds.

It wouldn't be unreasonable to assume that each Launcher, including its extradimensional ammo hoppers, wouldn't weigh more than 50 pounds and cost just 2,300 IM.

Or if DP is generous, he would let us use an Abundant Ammunition spell for the basic projectiles, in which case we could put in a constant enchantment which would allow it to launch them at will with no limit on ammo. In that case, we could remove one of the ammo hoppers, keep the one with specialized rounds, and it would cost just 2,450 IM per Launcher while weighing somewhere around 35 pounds.

@DragonParadox, when we summon a Cornugon can we try to make sure it's metal-clad somehow? I'm hoping for a silver or platinum Cornugon to get a decently strong cloak for Lya, yet also matching Viserys'.

You mind making a list of summons in such a way, that it would not make it immediately apparent to any faction that we are summoning and capturing them en-mass, when we'll be doing those "important enough to be on-screen summons"?

We have Devils, Demons, Daemons, Rakshasa, those Shadow Hags, etc. to choose from after all.
