Well, now we know the adventuring group survived their trip down into the Underdark.

@DragonParadox I guess it's too much to hope that one or more of them were perma-killed in some manner?

Yes he will try to give you all the runes you ask for, but it is not exactly his top priority, because he does have a continent-spanning multiple front occult war to run.
Perfect.

Also, to everyone who fought me on bringing a dragonpen with us, congrats on the wasted time. Now we have to go back, get a dragonpen, then drop it off with Bloodraven.

[X] Offer to leave him a calligraphy wyrm and some empty books to be retrieved at a later date (slow progress)

If it was that simple Tywin would have just disinherited Tyrion and exiled him to the Basilisk Isles or Skagos or some other godforsaken place.
Tywin is too arrogant for that, while he hates Tyrion, he also hates the though of it not being his descendants who will rule the Rock, so he kept Tyrion, because while he would probably rather see one of his nephews than Tyrion succeed him, he would rather have one of his grandsons by Tyrion succeed him, than he would have one of his Nephews children succeed him.

This don't change he has plenty of heirs, it just mean that Tywin finds the thought of Tyrion as Lord Paramount, slightly less distasteful, than the thought of it not being his branch of the Lannister line, who rule the Rock a hundred years from now.

He would rather have Tommen than Tyrion as his successor, and ideally he would get Jaime released from his oaths to succeed him, but having one of Tyrions sons succeed him, is marginally better than a Nephew.

Perfect.

We didn't specifically vote not to bring one, did we?

@DragonParadox, I know it's a stretch, but would it be okay if we retcon having brought a dragonpen with us? It does make a lot of sense given that we had every intention of getting a crap ton of lore out of this trip.

I don't mind waiting a bit, we have way too much to do with Lya.

Well, if you go with the 40kk figure, then Westeros can raise up to 800k men without really hurting itself.

Young Adult or Adult it was, IIRC.

Dracolich's abilities are scary, but can be throughly countered too.
Keep in mind, liches are unique to a T. I wouldn't be surprised if DP put some extra tricks up this things scales.

More than that, the Dracolich, if not loaded with some force equalizing abilities, will probably have had time to plot.

I wouldn't doubt that a straight up fight will have some surprise visitors show up. It's probably counting on not simply being cornered and ganked. Too ignominious.... villainous characters like that do not go out like punks. They either go out in pitched battle that is relatively equal, or they escape to fight another day. And since we cannot accept their escape, pitched battle it is.

So we just have to prepare more contingencies than what specifically counters the lich's death magic, no, we have to have some aces to deal with any surprises, too.

  1. He has no idea how the Wall was made, yes
  2. Yes he will try to give you all the runes you ask for, but it is not exactly his top priority, because he does have a continent-spanning multiple front occult war to run.

As long as he's aware that we're not in a massive rush for this, just that it gets started. Hugs to the old monster.

Bloodraven: Even buiser than Viserys, but (happily) still less so than a god :D

I know we're drawing this out. A lot. But can we get a list of useful things he might like/want? He may be a prisoner of his own choice, but we may as well improve his quality of life :D. Before we raise Rhaella, btw

Kinda like getting Aemon a ring of endure elements cuz he's old and the wall is freezing.

No, 400K is the projected numbers that GRRM attributes to military strengths across respective kingdoms combined.

It was directly made clear when Tywin's "50,000, though including green boys" was bandied about, so we can assume the figures of "45 thousand" and "30 thousand" and "20 thousand" and the Reach's aproximate "100 thousand" account for those numbers.

All things considered, that's nearly half a million troops. And I don't expect it to be necessary to raise more than ten percent of any amount as a standing force, not when they can be supplemented and form the steel core of levies provided by our vassals surrounding where we've stationed them.
1-2% is the historical amount that could be raise without unduly hurting the country at these tech levels.

So 400k as the normal levy, another 400k as reinforcements is what would be historically accurate for a population of 40kk.

Hmm.
Will we be able to port to SD and back to Wall once we are in for copying all the lore Nightwatch has? Then losing Viserys' personal pendragon doesn't seem much of a problem.
Otherwise...
Well, not a problem still, but taking all the stuff they have will be a big, long bother.

The words send a shiver down your spine as though some cold wind had managed to penetrate even here, and so you move on to your next request, for a map of the Lands of the Far North beyond what the Watch was able offer. You carefully unroll the seal-skin for him to inspect.

He gives a short cough of seeming disgust. "Even worse than when I left. Some of those rivers would be running uphill by their reckoning." So saying he utters a single word in the Old Tongue and the map hovers midair, then another and a point of fire begins to sear fine lines into the map. With a start you realize it is the first time you have ever seen Bloodraven use magic in the flesh, beyond his dreams and visions.
 It was that inaccurate? Well thank god we asked him to fix it.
It requires the equivalent of 100 gold crowns to replicate one ...
200 Gold, but you're right, that could definitely work. Viserys keeps his dragonpen, dragonpen replicates itself and the new one stays with Bloodraven to learn all the lore, and then we come back and pick it up for all the lore later on and it can go to Rhaella or something.

@Goldfish, what do you think of just making a new dragonpen entirely and leaving it here to learn lore? That way Viserys doesn't need to go without his personal assistant.

Then later on we can come and pick it up and give it to Rhaella or whoever happens to be next in line for a pen.

Cost isn't an issue—200 IM out of something to the tune of ~78,000 IM is nothing. Safety isn't an issue since Dany just pointed out this place is even safer than the Shadow Tower. I'm not seeing any downside here.

And no, as long as he's on the Wall I don't actually want to give Aemon a dragonpen, so you don't need to worry there.

[X] Have Lya come here to study (fast progress, locks Lya's schedule) - and have her drop off a dragonpen so they can do that when she instead asks questions. All the questions. (Brynden Rivers; our unending set of questions? As nothing compared to what she has)

@DragonParadox

Before you close the vote, it was mentioned that some people would like to make a new dragonpen here with 200 gold from our own one.

Doable?

Well worth 200 gold imo :D

Edit: lmfao :p
