Just give battlecry as a bonus feat instead of forcing them to lock the first character level feat into it.

NPC classes usually have no class features at all. It's already the most powerful "NPC" class in existence, so the "must take battlecry" drawback is in there deliberately.

Does she even get to meele anymore? So far Viserys gets into melee range far more often than Dany.

Which is stupid because a class shouldn't have an innate drawback like that.

What if Richard picked it up instead? It can't mindfuck him, and any curse it tries to inflict can be reversed by Dany or Bloodraven.

A blind choice? Really?

But neither Viserys or Dany are sword-wielders!? And bloodraven doesn't know what it does.

Well, if it want to get away with being jealous, it had better be somehow useful in combat.

I'm interested in the Staff tbh.

If I seem annoyed, it's probably because the chapter has ended. And I've been waiting for this for ages.

[X] Let Dany take up Dark Sister

Theres literally no one else that would be able to use it. Its a family heirloom.

We could always give it to Rhaella after we resurrect her.

Having said that, unless Dark Sister does something to boost casting or has a nifty special ability, it would probably be wasted on Viserys and Dany. We never fight long enough that we seriously run out of spells and get into a slugfest. Of the two, Viserys will probably use it more with HHD... until he can turn into a full dragon.

I'm honestly liking Rhaella more and more purely because a sword is wasted on a Sorcerer and a non-melee cleric.

[X] The sword shall remained sheathed for now. We will return with it to Sorcerer's Deep and attempt to learn more of its powers and personality in controlled laboratory conditions.

[X] Let Dany take up Dark Sister

Viserys would have no use for it, and I like the symbolism of Dark Sister going from one Targaryen Witch to another.

Well, we certainly can't take it up. It'll be troublesome to bond to the sword and then if we reacquire Blackfyre...Viserys, the non-melee sorcerer, with two swords at his belt? Very silly.

Dany is a good symbolic choice for it, and if it boosts spellcasting it would still be useful to her. Dany is also among the ones I trust the most to detect outside mental influences/thoughts given how much mind she gives such things (like not repeating templates if she can help it to avoid them influencing her thoughts too much).

I'm mildly inclined to just give it to Dany.

[X] Goldfish

You guys already want to blindly give that devil spiked chain to Valaena without even bothering to figure out the ??? effect for the purpose of "flavor". Don't do that here. This is too important.

About that - if we throw the chain (torturous death) and Valaena at the Merling king, do you think we might get a cleric out of it?

[X] Take up Dark Sister

Ah, we can use this better and I doubt we need to be too paranoid here.

And, I want a jealous sword. It would be amusing if nothing else.

And you'd think that a person with such nickname and user pic will know better than to pick up magical swords with unknown side-effects...

Reminder that Bloodraven has explicitly warned us of unknown effects.
"Careful which of you takes it," Brynden warns.

"Why?" You eye Dark Sister warily, not for its sharpness but for whatever power it may hold. Many were the poisoned gifts you have seen in your travels, and while you do not believe the ancient sorcerer has any reason to betray you with a purpose you know enough about the black arts that went into the forging of Dragonsteel.

"The blade has not been wielded in earnest for more than sixty years. The world was a different place then. I thought I heard it wake in the years that passed, since magic began to return to the world, though steel is not the loudest of things. If any blade of House Targaryen should hold some hidden power it would be this one. Carried by Visenya herself, who was named a witch by many, from then on it passed from hand to hand, drinking blood common, noble, aye even royal on nigh a hundred battle grounds." A laugh that sounds like the cawing of ravens. "A woman's sword was this in the beginning, perhaps like a woman it might prove jealous of its bearer."
We have either Viserys or Dany take the sword up blindly and we're stumbling right into whatever trap DP is laying out for us. There's literally no downside whatsoever in carefully studying it first. We have time. It's not like taking up the blade is something that has to happen right this second.

EDIT: I'm suspecting sentient blade like Oathkeeper, but we'll have to wait and see.
