Crystalwatcher's Magical Girl Quest!

You do know that you are giving up our first turn right? if she attacks once let alone 6 times we are in the shit.

I am aware, although I am less pessimistic about it. Additionally, I very much doubt that Crystalwatcher would just kill us or our allies on turn one for trying to think outside the box.

As I said, the chance of getting through this fight without straining our team at all is worth the risk. To me, at least.

you severely overestimate how silly this quest is. This quest is not silly enough that spending the first turn talking in a fight where most combatants can one shot each other would be at all safe. what would happen if we try to be silly in the middle of a life or death fight is that we would loose our first turn advantage. Normally that wouldn't be super terrible, but in this specific fight it's lethal because again, most combatants here can one shot each other and we are outnumbered.

you plan will get some people on our side killed.

No, I have precedence that it worked before.
Namely, Nepgear's third mission; we had the chance to get the drop on Goddess White and the Maidens, would have had first strike. The opposition could have one-shot the whole team back then as well... not counting James.

But the voters decided to throw away their first turn for a chance; and it worked. Because our QM rewards trying to think of creative solutions.

I do not think this Quest is silly. I am merely trying to game Grey Champion's personality; she is a social butterfly and, much in difference to many other Quests, the people here are reasonable if you do it right. Goddess White listened back then, and I believe that Grey Champion will listen now because she loves her fans, all of them. Even if she has to fight them in a moment, why not talk to them on the one chance she gets before they die? Make them happy before they are gone?
I think this is in character for her, based on everything we saw and heard about the most popular Magical Girl that ever was.

If you disagree, that is fine. But if I learned anything from this Quest, it is that if you look at things in a positive way and are smart about it, you can reach the heavens and beyond.

just to be clear here, your comparing parlaying with a force that had an overwhelming force advantage and unknown goals, to asking someone we know for a fact is mind controlled by a hostile power for an autograph as ideas of equal tactical value and good sense. Besides, we have the first turn. we can just core purge and rush her with the exact same amount of risk.

no. just no. the parlay worked because it was clever, and played on the fact that we had compatible goals with White. your idea is just silly and kind of stupid. If you think this quest is light hearted enough for that to work go reread the graveyard fight or the "vacation" arc.

considering we can get the same result just turning on our core theres no need to risk getting attacked by the glass cannon that can kill us.
Edit: to put it this way. with the way the fight is set up any plan that does not involve one shoting gray is not one i can support.

We have to agree to disagree on this one, then. I believe it can work.

That is true, though. On the other hand, there might be a surprise waiting for us, which will not spring if we get her to let us stand right in front of her first.
On the other hand... I just ran the calculation and might have made a mistake, but Grey Champion would inflict a Final End Damage of around 500 with her spell on Solid Core; which then would be negated entirely due to Indestructible Core.
So actually, the glass cannon can do nothing against us.

Still... @UberJJK , could you doublecheck that? I am basing my thoughts on your calculations from here:
Grey Champion is high grade bullshit.

Here are what her spells look like with the Spell Boost from !☆Riot☆! :
Lets Start A Riot!
Level 20
Base Damage: Target's Damage + 9,000
Magic Modifier: 2 + 1,200 = 1,202
Affinity: Song | Battle
Ability: Boost-All | Boost-By-Modifier

Blast ☆ Star!
Level 25
Base Damage: 12,500 + 9,000 = 21,500
Magic Modifier: 1,200
Affinity: Song | Battle | Legend
Ability: Omni-Magic | Collateral Damage

[...]

Oh and as for Grey Champion despite being "weaker" in solo combat her spell Blast ☆ Star! hits for [21,500 + 1d1200] x 5 thanks to Omni-Magic. Which means her opening attack deals 110,500 damage and thanks to !☆Riot☆! having Omni-Caster (Level 2) she can throw that out twice per turn.

Edit: For reference, I just did a quick and dirty calculation with 110,500 *0.01 * 0.5 = 552, ignoring base resilience entirely.

Do you remember when we had to fight Ana? The only reason she didn't just slaughter everyone was because she was trying to protect Nepgear, it was just twisted her thoughts to make her think the Darkness was the way to do that.

Champion Grey is an attention whore, and I don't even mean that in a bad way from what we've heard about her. And she's meeting a fan now, one who she has an overwhelming advantage against.

And you know what else? Lost commented that "just might work."

right now she sees us as an enemy combatant. so the question is if she's the sort of person who in the middle of a life or death struggle would stop fighting for a bit to sign an autograph for a particularly dangerous enemy who's full capabilities are unknown. Given she lived long enough to hit the top 10 I'm guessing she's not quite that reckless.

I was more worried about her killing our battle mage.
you're still using a distraction on a foe that doesn't need to be distracted in exchange for giving them what they need most... time. should that distraction(which i repeat doesn't help us) fail we are giving them free attacks.

Still... @UberJJK , could you doublecheck that? I am basing my thoughts on your calculations from here:
So Blast ☆ Star! does a maximum damage of 113,500 (no idea why my quoted figure is off by 3k). This is reduced by 1,700 due to Nepgear's Base Resilience to 111,800. Since that is obviously over Nepgear's Current Health of 12,600 I'm not going to both with the damage negation check of ICORE and move straight onto the 99% damage reduction which drops the damage down to 1,118. No Longer Human drops the damage another 50% down to 559. This drop's Nepgear's health down to 12,041.

So yeah; scratch damage on the tank that is Nepgear. The real problem is that spell automatically buffs all her minions and if even a single one of them attacks we, and everyone else, are dead.

To (4) and (1): that was stated before we went in, though; if there were any other notable combatants here, we would probably know about them by now.
IC, the only reason to think White Soul's here is that the rest of the Old Guard has been, and there's a chokepoint coming up (though it's possible that her grave is known to have been robbed, and she was listed as a "confirmed enemy", so if that's IC…). If one enemy's been hiding, why not two?
As for (3), (5) and (6)
Agreed, those are weak reasons.
GG demolishing the whole thing would probably be too fast for White Soul to disintegrate her second body in time. She also would not have her preferred form of mobility at hand if one body was far away, making her a sitting duck and Red Rose could win the fight the moment she gets into range.
Nope. White Soul cancels her bodies instantly and automatically—surprise her with a laser at point-blank and she'll still delete that body before it hits/as it's hitting. And she can just cancel the remote body and make a new one when she sees us coming if she's worried about mobility.
She has not yet told them to attack; this was just a battle-opener.
In such contexts, "welcome" is a pretty common euphemism for attacking.
I mean, what can a MG without her weapon do?
Use any Spells or active or passive Abilities which don't rely on it. Or punch stuff; plenty of MGs are physically strong enough to kill things with their fists, or explicitly have that as a possible weapon. It's also easier to distract someone if you're right in front of them, and attacks which don't touch allies are a thing—once we're next to her, we could put a hand over her mouth, then pick her up and fly her back to our allies, or go high enough that the fall damage would kill her, or just hold her in place. Lots of possibilities. [EDIT: Heck, some of those would actually make an effective battle plan, especially if we flew in at max speed instead of relying on her letting us get close.]
Hm… workable. I'm still wary, but I have no problem if this goes through. Two things I'd rephrase to clarify: first, make it clear that Red Rose "taking point" means she's the front line for the others, rather than following us—I assume this is what you mean, since following us would take her away from anything Core Purge missed—and second, Shield Charge needs line of sight, so Sega needs to do that before taking cover. [EDIT: How did I forget the other problem? She'd need pen and paper to give us an autograph, and I don't know that they're available. And even so, she can autograph a paper airplane and throw it at us, if she feels like indulging us while also being careful.]

Additionally, I very much doubt that Crystalwatcher would just kill us or our allies on turn one for trying to think outside the box.
Agreed, crystalwatcher's not particularly harsh on this sort of thing. Though I disagree with the San comparison, because (a) nobody there was actually hostile to us, (b) we were already having a conversation there, and (c) what we had to say was enough to stop San in her tracks (the others didn't really matter—Angel WEAPON was playing for time, and the Maidens were mostly following San's lead). I think it'll work because this quest has a lot of talkative opponents, dramatic dialogue, and not instantly killing people even when it's possible, and because Grey has already delayed the fight for (seemingly) no reason other than drama.
As I said, the chance of getting through this fight without straining our team at all is worth the risk. To me, at least.

Oh! One other thing. I'm still paranoid about an ambush, but if there is one and it's another rezzed MG, we don't want to kill her. So Core Purge should probably just generically set MGs to "ally" right now. (Another thought: given that White Soul's copy-deletion is at least partly automatic, I wonder if setting her as an ally would let us hit her Seal and knock her out without triggering her auto-dodge?)

I do think the Fairy is smart enough to stay near cover... and I get the feeling the first shot would go to the Leader Magical Girl (Nepgear) anyway.

So yeah; scratch damage on the tank that is Nepgear. The real problem is that spell automatically buffs all her minions and if even a single one of them attacks we, and everyone else, are dead.

You forgot Red Rose. She stands amongst gods, so even those things could only do scratch damage on her while she slaughters them.
And behind her is the wall that is James.
Edit: And we are in the air by this point, so they could not reach Nepgear anyway.

Nope. White Soul cancels her bodies instantly and automatically—surprise her with a laser at point-blank and she'll still delete that body before it hits/as it's hitting. And she can just cancel the remote body and make a new one when she sees us coming if she's worried about mobility.

I think it was mentioned that she can not do it automatically, just very fast; as in half a second fast. Might be enough to get out of the wave of annihilation... but again, I believe she has both of her bodies inside the necropolis

I will also add a note to put all Magical Girls as friendly to my vote.

Didn't we beat Silver Hero with a hug?

we beat silver hero by getting her to focus her attention on the one guy in the party immune to her spells. We had her hard counter so we could afford a bit of silliness. Also, while the application of it was silly, the tactic of the magic immune guy bum rushing her into a grapple is fairly sound.

hahah no. to stand among gods means no attack can do more than 20% of her health. so she dies in 5 hits, remember gray champions boost range is between 1 and 9002 because her weapon has spell boost so adds it's attack damage to all magic modifier rolls. taking 5 hits when up against 20 dudes who each attack more than once a turn is not much of a safety margin.
