Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

Going by the low estimate of the distance between them and the fact that Vita assumes she's safe (and would have been without the Extension add-on), I'm just going to pick a number fairly arbitrarily and extend Solar Wrath's range to about… Hell, why not. 5 miles. That's still shorter than the distance but long enough to qualify as bombardment by modern definitions.

So when will we be able to turn Solar Wrath into close range high speed attack?

It's difficult to say how big was its radius thanks to Vista screwing with distances, but yes, most probably it was smaller.
I think that's not because its non-lethal nature, but because Taylor was in a hurry. Kadejo could escape Vista's pit and spread out in any second.
In Empire's case, villains were under suppressive fire of other heroes, so Taylor took her time.
Considering we can kickstart charging with Cartridges now...

Anyway, I don't see a reason to shoot Dragonslayers from a distance more than 200 meters.

We have every reason to take every advantage possible, they've used Dragon's study of us to work out just how to take us out which means we need to fight in a way we haven't before. We can fire from five miles out and have the beam track then you DO that along with everything else we can do to stack the deck in our favor. Doing anything else would be both lazy and stupid.

i have no problems with you guys vaporizing the entire warehouse, as long as the dragonslayers remain alive for torture. uh, i mean enhanced interrogation.
Why would we torture Saint? Even setting aside the fact it doesn't work and is OOC I'm fairly sure he will freely give Calamity Witch all he has on Dragon since otherwise there would be no one left to watch her.

Basically their first and last sight of us is a column of miraculously not killing them outright plasma

If anything, that seems like an upgrade to Flare Blade? Somehow combining it with Blitz Action. Unless it was using a Buster fired backwards as propulsion, which it kind've looked like xD

death by blinding flash is too good for them, regardless of the validity of the false confessions we forcefully extract.

But not death, see. Non-lethal Mode. Which the QM described generally as "getting hit by a truck, but somehow without the internal injuries". And thats generally what nonlethal is like.... now, instead of a handful of shooters hitting at once (vaguely truck sized), how about a truck large enough to flatten a building or five hitting you instead? Possibly a second or third time if we're not sure you are down. Hows you think that feels :V ?

Non-lethal Solar Wrath seems to have a smaller area of effect though:
The hemisphere is our Temporal Sludge which is 10m in radius so we know it's bigger then that but I don't see anything that implies it's anywhere near the massive size increase of a 30m radius blast.
I mentioned in the Empire fight that Taylor undercharged Solar Wrath because it was the first time using it in real life. Mostly because when I wrote the Cadejo fight I was an idiot and didn't check how large Divine Buster actually got.

Shock and awe does not involve acting like Attilla the Hun's torturous, overthinking cousin.

I would've said Subutai, personally.

I think we'd be able to get our point across without hacking off limbs and/or otherwise permanently crippling them.
Well, they're thieves and mercenaries taking advantage of an Endbringer attack to further their own gain. That I'm not advocating killing them was, I thought, fairly generous. I'm largely concerned with permanently removing them as a threat in some fashion, to minimize the risk of Saint feeding information concerning magic back to Teacher. This, I feel, would be extraordinarily bad.

For those who missed the, what, eight pages of discussion? Solar Wrath's maximum range is 5 miles, mages outside Recursion field can do nothing non-mages in the area of effect unless they leave or the field goes down, Solar Wrath fired from outside can break Recursion field, and voting for Hammer of God and for staying inside the warehouse are mutually exclusive. Whew.

Anyway, here are your choices.

[ ] Honor Duel – Wait for the Dragonslayers in plain sight so they realize what they walked into.
[ ] Sneaky Ninja – Stay in the shadows and pick off the Dragonslayers one by one.
[ ] Hammer of God – The Dragonslayers will know what happened, they just won't be able to do anything about it.

Battle plans can be offered but are not required, and remember that if you want to go lethal, you have to say so.

And one more thing. Please, please, PLEASE don't go rewriting plans. Trying to work with the built-in tally with five different plans that all say the same thing in different ways will make me want to hunt down and murder every single person involved. If you like a plan, COPY AND PASTE.

"Enhanced interrogation" is worthless for actually getting information.
Actually, there is a condition to that oh so popular and oft quoted statement that they don't mention because they wanted to follow the "Torture is always useless!" angle.

Yes, people can and will say anything to end the pain - unless you show yourself capable of checking their answers.

For example - If you are getting into a system and are torturing someone for the password, say you stop the first time they give you "the answer".

It only takes a few seconds to know whether they gave you the password or not. Now one would say "they'll still lie to get those few seconds!" But this is only true if the torturers are stupid enough to continue pausing the torture every time the prisoner gives an answer, whether it actually works or not.

What smart (successful) torturers do, is that they don't stop until the answer WORKS. So, even if they are given a fake answer, until the password works the prisoner(s) are still getting tortured. Then the prisoner(s) know that the only way to end the pain is with TRUTH and once they are so desperate to end the pain that they'll say anything, the truth is forthcoming, because they know lies won't work.

So again, it hinges on your ability to safely and consistently show that you can verify their answers, and that you will stop (even temporarily) when they give a correct answer. If you can't verify their answers without causing danger to yourself torture is less likely (by far) to work. But if you can verify their answrrs and they know this, (or you can make them believe this at least) then torture works wonders.

Rather irrelevant imo, since we are extremely unlikely to engage in the activity, and checking the info would take time. That's all.

Because fuck Saint and everyone in his general vicinity. Don't care about the particulars, I just want muh giant laser death beam.

Hammer of God. Btw, did you see my question about "locked" RF fields?

We have surprise, now add accuracy, now add even even more firepower. We've got over fifty Cartridges, we can afford to burn them to end the fight.

I did not. Also, if you want to vote, you have to put the bracket-X-bracket before the line. Just look at how the others are voting.

Gah, didn't realize the brackets were required. Just thought it was a stylistic trend. Just out of curiousity, does that help somehow or is it a personal preference? Like is there a built-in counter for that here?

So the question was this: Given that later TSAB encounters RFs that they have to "hack" to get access to, and they didn't simply fire beams to destabilize them and get at the people inside that way, would we be safe in assuming that "locked" RFs are stable enough to avoid falling apart if a beam is fired into the local area by those outside it?

We don't currently have this upgrade but again future planning.

That's how the different tally programs differentiates a vote from a random line of text. There is a built-in tally counter on SV that I'm trying to get familiar with as it will let me call votes when all I have is my phone or iPad.

I seem to recall that in A's they had to have mages firing at the barriers to help bring them down, so I'll need to double-check that. Either way, a beam of magic is going to be stopped at the edge of the of the barrier and will not continue into the area of effect.

Solar Wrath (6/6 Master) – Powerful bombardment spell. Unleash a beam of fiery destruction that is capable of destroying several barriers or walls before being stopped. Currently programmed to be non-lethal by default. Can be cast simultaneously with any other spell.
