So it seems like regardless of our plan of attack for handling the situation, all Westerosi eyes will be on us very soon and the situation will be coming to a head. I'm tempted to just declare ourselves Viserys Targaryen, heir to the Iron Throne, reclaimer of Valyrian heritage (including what we'd frame as *good* magic), and vanquisher of the Deep Ones while the Usurper ignores the peoples' call for help. All while bouncing back and forth to SD to develop an attack/defense plan. Maybe we can lay low and gather information first.

It also strikes me that depending on what stories got out, the storm-calling of the Driftwood Crown is still strongly associated with Damphair and the Deep Ones... a pity Waymar isn't on board with using the plan yet, as that could draw attention from us quite nicely.

It's been pointed out that losing a large base of seasoned sailors would be a major blow to the Royal Fleet... if we had a mechanism for saving them, we could could use that to our own advantage. Any chance we could salvage relations with the tritons and have them save/detain overboard sailors in the battle so that we can potentially recruit them? Conversely, depending on the ships' crews (if drawn primarily from Dragonstone and nearby areas, likely loyalists) we could try to mutiny rather than demolish everything. Just brainstorming potential ideas to get Waymar (and any other particularly good-aligned individuals) to agree to using the Crown.

Edit: Faceless'd on my first point.

-[X] Present yourself as the rightful king, having come to aid his loyal subjects while the Ursuper is whoring his days away.
// ... because this reeks of ego. Should work through. Also meshes well with the attitudes expressed in the village.
Sure we want to reveal ourselves before giving them any reason not to notify the king?

To me any talk sounds better if the talker just handed you some squidheads that had been feeding on your people for months.

I'd like to go out on the Mysterious sorcerer approach, and then reveal ourselves later, but Azel's idea is more pragmatic.

The problem is, if we reveal ourselves, how do we keep the Lannisters from killing them all?

Hm... scout the area a bit and see if we can find any attackers? I don't want to waste too much time chasing shadows if we can just ask about the situation.

I don't intend to tell anyone but the lord themselves who we are. It's their own choice if they want to throw their lot in with the Lannisters.
To me, that would be just a few more names on the list of future kindling.

That's why I voted to go as Mysterious Wizard, go hunting and then reveal as Viserys to the lords (and the lords only).

That disguise would be necessary anyway since the majority of people can't know about us unless we want to force the lords here to decide between us and the guy with the army right next to them before we are remotly ready to defend them.

[X] Start out disguised with the smallfolk again, find out how big and immediate the threat from the sea is.
-[X] Then go as mysterious sorcerer with retinue, offering to take care of the issue to the local lords, stay unrvealed until you can bring some squidheads to them.
We should not appear as a sorcerer, we were warned they dont trust magic, we should go the other way, introduce ourselves as agents of the true King, and show who we really are once we solve the issue.

[X] Plan Mysterious Ego
-[X] Part 1 - Acquire Squid
--[X] Disguise yourself and get some information about the situation from the smallfolk.
--[X] If that fails, aerial scouting of the vincinity.
--[X] If you find any abberations or have a good hunch where they might attack in the next two or three days, fight them and take some heads.
-[X] Part 2 - Hand out your card
--[X] Request an audience with the lord and reveal yourself to him in private.
---[X] Use dead squids as conversation starter.
--[X] Present yourself as the rightful king, having come to aid his loyal subjects while the Ursuper is whoring his days away.
--[X] On magic: The return of magic is fact and dark powers have arrayed themselves against men. It is right to fear them, but one should not let fear cloud ones judgement. There are those who wield magic in defense of their bretheren and it would be wrong to shun who might become your brother against the darkness.
--[X] On Robert and the loyalty issues accepting our aid might cause: The Ursuper has shunned their requests for aid in the hour of need. What kind of loyalty does such a king deserve? We came here because it is our duty as the heier to the Iron Throne, even if it is a great risk to come so close to the seat of power of one who wishes our death. If they truly fear his wrath more then the Mindflayers, we will depart at once and think no lesser of them.

@Artemis1992, deal?
I see no point in stretching this any longer then necessary if it's as simple as "Sahuagin come every full moon, next time tomorrow."

// A bit of a throwback to our "I am the light that drives the night away." speech before the weirwood.
You may want to throw in an iron > plowshares > swords analogy here. Perhaps.

The revised plan also warns the Mindflayers before we start the main attack.
Also - divination (Dany) before step 1.

// Where's the rest of the party? We fetch them via teleports? Or all present?

I'd recommend to burn the skulls after showing them off.
Nobody wants the Squid Squad after them.
Relath might. I still want to give him some squid heads as a gift.
Back to the plan, should we Also add what disguises we want to use? I would suggest bodyguard mercenary + Braavosi heiress travelling against her fathers counsel.

Depends. How strong are those retrieval teams?

This reeks of a golden opportunity for an ambush.
Depends.
Do you want the Elder Brain to Scry on the head and determine the optimal retrieval-team against our party to appear via Greater Plane Shift and stunlock everyone in the first round?

Not saying that would happen, but it is within the capabilities of an Elder Brain that is grumpy because it didn't get its brainfood.

Hm... point. Through we only got a Ulitharid last time, there is indeed no telling how much juice they would send the second time.

[X]Azel

Ulitharids are literally the worse thing the squids got.

Or those mind flayer ropers. But don't talk about them, we don't want DP to get ideas.

Also, if we destroy the brain, even if the skull survives, the brain blob will not get food anyway, so no reason to get grumpy.
