[X] Flying Vehicle

I want a flying vehicle but feel we should all get the chance to customize it together so I'm going with something nice and general. The designing is part of the fun.

Maybe we'll end up going with a classic sailing ship that flies on air current instead of sea currents and has a crew of badass sailors and is filled with cannons.

Maybe we'll go with an ominous flying tower complete with a Burning Shadows based deathray.

Maybe we'll go with a rigid airship filled with various arcane devices.

Maybe we'll go with a sky chariot that acts like the air is basically land and is pulled by pegasi.

Maybe we'll go with a metal fantastical sci-fi design or something even more interesting.

Also I have no idea what design would actually make for an effective flying vehicle, so rather than limit the experts with preconceived designs I'd prefer to set goals and see what comes out.

I'm not a huge fan of having the design already be complete. It removes the fun of prototyping a design and what I expect would be some interesting world building about what sort of design would actually work best. That said I still really want a flying vehicle of some sort.

On that note, I wonder what farming a bound apparition does to your soul.

Main problem with bleeding apparitions is that there's a finite amount of blood in them, and you'd need to hunt them to extinction and blood dry, or capture one well enough, blood-milk it little by little and let recover. Both options are very dangerous.

Having one chained to your soul makes it a lot safer in terms of binding, but what regular bloodletting of soul stuff from what is now a peripheral part of your soul would do to a wizard, I wonder? Well, someone will try it and find out now.

That doesn't really work. The way that it's bound to your soul is that it has a coating of your Wind, which means that the Vitae can't get out of it without getting close enough to a Wind for it to stop being Vitae.
 
I like the idea of an Airship or Flying Tower but I don't think we need to specify all the details in this vote, that just runs the risk of splitting the vote:

Armour's still my preference, but the "ready to start Cloudkill research without 3 AP of resource gathering" version of pickl's plan appeals to me more than the original with its pure CF reward from the Jades, so to help it off the ground:

I want our next adventure to be close up and personal ninja shenanigans. And I think clearing forest of shadows is a great adventure, though I don't have much interest in ruling it later.

@Boney wanted to ask, compared to a Great Deed for reference, what could we do with Dwarven Boons, specifically the Moderate Runesmiths? I'm curious if we could expend that Boon for their specialized craft in the making of a Flying Tower, and how much that differs from more generally involving more mundane Dwarven expertise in the construction?

You're not going to get a more good tower from piling more boons on. You would be getting maximum good tower. You can use other boons to add completely extra functionality to the tower.
 
Kind of surprised that the only variant on Pickle's plan is to change the Jade Boon to apparitions. We already know about those and we could ask them to knock it off with messing with Panorama instead.

I like having a mobile research base, I like the idea of calling in major artillery support in a near-future fight, and I like the idea of using the results of finishing one major research avenue, to launder and build the prospect of another.

The last one taken from Flaviusb's plan here. Which interested me.
 
What is this about Elector Countess?

Also, what qualities does the Armor of Von Tarnus have beyond being able to stack with our Aethyric Armor?

The idea is to outsource the half a dozen AP capturing the apparitions would take for the absurd mega cloudkill spell.

Considering we'd be asking Panorath for the boon, who's already the counterweight to Pans moms faction, I don't think asking him to do more hampering their political power is likely to be very effective or necessary.
