The Long Founding (Warhammer 40k)

We already have apothecary's, every chapter has them. Just because we don't have more doesn't mean that they will all die out considering that if that happens odds are the whole chapter dies out.

They aren't a legendary trait. If people want to decrease how often our dudes are killed including the bears seems like it makes way more sense to go with skills that synegize with our actual legendary traits.
Multiple titan units doesn't strike you as legendary?
Enhanced apothecaries means they can expand beyond the baseline, the baseline doesn't include veterinary duties.

Maybe something more along the lines of "Argent claws" or something for the name?

I don't know why but i have a hard time taking the "[…] Bears" seriously.

[ ] Plan Lokens Sons
-[ ] Chapter Name: Sons of Loken
-[ ] Chapter Colors: White with dark green trim
--[ ] Champions wear fur cloaks made from the fur of Ultrabear's who have fallen in battle.
--[] Veterans wear masks or half masks covering their cursed appearance and scars. Intially the masks will be plain but can become more elaborate and decorated the older a marine gets.
-[ ] Chapter Symbol: A roaring bear head with half its head on fire
-[ ] Chapter Creed: "We will endure"
-[ ] Battle Cry: "Here We Stand!"
-[ ] More Champions: This Chapter has more Champions than most can claim.
-[ ] Extra Thunderhawks: The Chapter has access to additional Thunderhawks, of both Gunship, Transporter and Annihilator models, giving them superior heavy air power.

[ ] Plan Traitor Hunters
-[ ] Chapter Name: Argent Claws
-[ ] Chapter Colors: White with orange trim
--[ ] Champions wear fur cloaks made from the fur of Ultrabears who have fallen in battle.
--[] Veterans wear masks or half masks covering their cursed appearance and scars. Intially the masks will be plain but can become more elaborate and decorated the older a marine gets.
-[ ] Chapter Symbol: A black bear claw engulfed in fire.
-[ ] Chapter Creed: "In the name of the Emperor, We will bring Salvation in Flame."
-[ ] Battle Cry: "Burn in the Emperor's Fire!"
-[ ] Deepstrikes: More so than even other Space Marines, this Chapter has gained a mastery of the orbital strikes Adeptus Astartes are famous for.
-[ ] Extra Assault Packs: The Chapter has a great number of Assault Packs, letting them retain a greater number of Assault Marines in each Company.

I liked @ThatOneGuy050 's and @dudedorey 's mask ritual concept so much that I stole it and edited onto my plan.

Er, I mean--Completely original character, donut steel! :p

[] Plan: The Ashen Bears V2
-[] Chapter Name: The Ashen Bears
-[] Chapter Colors: Muted Red with Silver highlights

--[] Champions: It is common practice for champions to wear the fur of ultrabears who have fallen in battle.

--[] Veterans: The Ashen Bears will wear masks and half masks covering their cursed appearance and scars. Initially, the Masks are bare (bear) for Scouts, with more elaborate masks belonging to the older and more storied Space Marines.

-[] Chapter Symbol: Roaring Silver Bear facing left, wreathed in Red Flames on a Dark Iron background.
-[] Chapter Creed: "With Hearts Aflame, We Stand Against The Dark!"
-[] Chapter Battlecry:
--Call: "We are His (The Emperor's) Burning Wrath!"
--Response: "Hear Us Roar!"

-[] Deepstrikes: More so than even other Space Marines, this Chapter has gained a mastery of the orbital strikes Adeptus Astartes are famous for.
-[] Extra Assault Packs: The Chapter has a great number of Assault Packs, letting them retain a greater number of Assault Marines in each Company.

The reason I'm opting for Deepstrikes and Assault Packs is to capitalize on the chapter's expertise in decapitation strikes and skirmishes, maximizing their ability to strike hard and fast.

Hey, what you think about it: Immolation mask. Whenever scout prove himself and considered to be ready to became battlebrother he should pass his final trial - Immolation mask. He should put on his head a red-hot metallic bear mask to wash sins in his genes until his face is melted enough.

will the mask be permanently on their like Barabos Dantiacos mask?

So… the traits are outright listed as legendary or not-legendary. The bears are not listed as legendary. Therefore, they are not legendary. They are impressive, and certainly powerful, but not legendary.

Their legendary traits make them better combatants than almost all other Astartes, and exceptionally good at slaying named characters champions and leaders of the enemy forces. We need to capitalize on these already synergistic legendary traits to maximize their effectiveness and minimize casualties- so either More Champions, or further improving their overall Assault capabilities, or something that follows along those lines.

If their own self-mutilation was going to be a problem from the get-go, they'd already be given extra apothecaries just to avoid the chapter dying out. The bears are neat, but not the focus as they are explicitly not legendary compared to the traits that the QM has explicitly listed as actually legendary.

There is never a reason to have extra Chaplains, Tech Marines, or Apothecaries. Stop suggesting it. All Chapters need to have Jet Packs.
Actually there is explicitly reasons for each, just none that apply to this specific chapter.

Chaplains help spread ideas, religious concepts or even forms of governance that we feel would be beneficial to the imperium as a whole- none are applicable here.

Tech marines improve tech that amplifies the effectiveness of the marines and can aid in the use or understanding of any xeno- or archeo- tech that happens to be on the planet or that they come across. None of these are applicable here.

Apothecaries are useful to limit the spread of abnormal diseases, handle any unusual or supernatural health issues(that aren't already being handled), or amplify the effectiveness of an already present health-related planetary trait. None of which are applicable here.

After this, if reasonable choices are made, only 1 in 3 chapters we've ever actually made will have had chaplains. Only 4/11 currently, 4/12 soon.

It isn't picked even half of the time, much less for every single one. You are exaggerating, and- while I agree that the suggestion might have been brought up more frequently than is reasonable- you have to remember that it is merely a suggestion about what to do, not the actual choice.

Calm yourself, look at the actual facts of what have been chosen in the past, and relax. The thread as a whole is not going to waste such a good opportunity for slaying enemy named characters/champions/leadership when it is right in front of us.

Lol

But yeah no, there are no wasted options here, just less or more optimal combinations. If an option wouldn't be worth it, Grimm wouldn't have it available. Remember, the extra specialist choices don't just give you more Apothecaries/Chaplains/et cetera, they also make them more competent than the standard.

Extra Techmarines and Apotecaries me thinks will be needed.

...And causing people the Imperium over even more headaches in the process, but you got used to people making your life harder centuries ago.

So extra additions to the List of Grudges the Steel Champions have against the Dark Angels, got it.

-Ultrabears: The Chapter has tamed some of the fierce Ultrabears of Sarzaz, creatures in possesion of immense size, the power to fight Warhound Scout Titans as equals, and an immune/digestive system so potent they can fight on Tyranid or Nurgle infested battlefields and get away with eating their opponents. Your mind boggles at how they pull that one off, but pull it off they have.

... WTF!?! Oh poor enemies...

Good plans but can you separate the plan name and chapter name
