The Legendary Super Pretty Cures are going with Genjuro to crash a Precure villian's HQ.

It would be such a hilarious moment if we were getting all set for a huge, epic battle with the Ministry to finally settle which government is in control of Magical Japan, but before we could do anything every other enemy we're fighting swooped in, tripped over each other, and accidentally solved themselves for us.While I don't imagine any of the evil factions would plan to take part I also would not be surprised at one or more launching their own independent attack at the same time.
To be fair, that's not strictly a certainty... but it does sound more like a 'spring' mindset than an 'evade' mindset, now that you mention it.
Assuming, of course, that this event doesn't disrupt those plans significantly. We saw with the outcome of the Choshi City raid that despite the way we get stingers for the week's events in the Results post, those events are not strictly "on rails" if the dice cause some specific and unusual event to happen. The Legendary Super Pretty Cures are going with Genjuro to crash a Precure villian's HQ.
I think Eas already played that card, and it looks like Onogoro delayed their own attack because how we sorted out Eas made them think that maybe they'd been underestimating the defenses they'd be up against...While I don't imagine any of the evil factions would plan to take part I also would not be surprised at one or more launching their own independent attack at the same time.
Amazons. Cologne is local for this battle, even.
I apologize, I know this will come across as nitpicky, but I really do feel like motivation descriptions like "eager to go" are complicated with the Senshi.
I thought there was a clear distinction between the ones who Usagi would have to actively work to convince them not to go, and the ones that will just accept her decision. Makoto's in kind of a grey area since it doesn't say it'll take time to convince her but she is noted to have volunteered especially quickly, but also it'd be stupid not to take Makoto.I apologize, I know this will come across as nitpicky, but I really do feel like motivation descriptions like "eager to go" are complicated with the Senshi.
For example, Haruka and Michiru are absolutely down for "show up to fight for the princess." They are probably predisposed to ignore their own needs for her sake, given a chance; we know they kinda do this in canon and we know Minako seems to be doing it in this vote. Usagi can say "no, go rest, we've got this," but that's not the same as "they aren't eager," though I suppose it could all be a matter of quibbling over what 'eager' means.
Ami is in a different but similar situation. She obviously cares very intensely about Usagi and wants to fight for her, but also has a big phobia of screwing up at school and really gets caught up in school stuff. If she had a fear of spiders and we were deciding whether to bring her along to fight a giant spider, it's hard to say whether "Usagi is going into danger, but there will be spiders" was causing Ami to be eager or not eager to go.
People who are conflicted between two things they want or believe they have a duty to do... well, it gets messy trying to describe them.
I might not be talking about this except that I've had issues in my own life with people who oversimplify other people's motivations and make assumptions like "obviously you don't want to do, or don't care about, X because you didn't do Y and I am incapable of understanding any reason to do Y other than indifference to X."
They also might want toIt might be good to review some of Onogoro's potential objectives for this assault (or at least go a bit more granular than 'Destroy MCAT'):
- Kill Director Samui.
- Recover Lord Kurayami and his retinue (and maybe the Sadist Squad if they're feeling charitable).
- Secure some of the stolen youkai "property" (wait, where are their collars? Seriously, where are their collars!?).
- Steal any research and materials regarding this "musical magitech" that MCAT has been using.
- Steal any classified material regarding MCAT's backers and allies (secret identities, etc.).
Okay, that is a fairly clear decision, with two caveats:I thought there was a clear distinction between the ones who Usagi would have to actively work to convince them not to go, and the ones that will just accept her decision. Makoto's in kind of a grey area since it doesn't say it'll take time to convince her but she is noted to have volunteered especially quickly, but also it'd be stupid not to take Makoto.
Ami: "Aaand that's the story of how we turned the picnic into an experiment in what happens when you loop about a dozen Pretty Cures into a feedback mechanism."If the trap actually works, Ami (and possibly Rei) might need some muscle to implement the getting us out part anyway.
Well the 'Master of the Mountain' incident occurred back on the 24th and the attack is happening late on the 25th/early on the 26th. And since the rest of that interlude hasn't been written, we don't know what if anything/anybody Chris is bringing back to MCAT in the aftermath.Wonder if MCAT's going to risk deploying the full Bayonet Charge or stick to just Tsubasa, given the troubles Chris has had with getting the Castrating Sickle to cooperate. Doubt they're holding much back they're aware of* other than that though.
*Dr Sakurai breaking out her AT field would probably be a suprise to both parties, for example.
I imagine there's some real frustration in that request.
Because MCAT really has grown into their own since that first meeting at the Police Station. Recruiting capable personnel, unlocking their own tech tree, gaining a positive reputation, bringing actual hope to youkai for the first time in forever. All with boundless gratitude for the Senshi, who have granted them the breathing room to develop properly instead of being compelled to perform drastic and inefficient measures just to survive.
Now MCAT's inherent foe and rival for "legitimacy of magical governance" is about to make their big move, and Onogoro apparently has something designed to hurt the Senshi specifically. Nothing would give Samui greater satisfaction than being able to say that it's MCAT's turn to take the lead and keep the Senshi safe from debilitating harm... and thus there is nothing more frustrating than the sober understanding that no, MCAT's not quite there yet.

That invites the question:This is actually one of those situations where we may not need to worry about those situations, at least the last two, maybe three. Because, if my headquarters was known to be attacked in the next few days by people with invisibly mind-whammying supplies... I'd take my classified material and stick it in an undisclosed 3rd location under a time-lock.
"Sorry, your 'princess' is in another castle and the doors don't unlock until tomorrow afternoon. Have fun~"
That doesn't mean we shouldn't keep an eye out about them pulling some shady or desperate moves, or prisoner transfers, but I think we can safely assume the research materials are secured against a potential infiltration.
That invites the question:
How many suitably safe locations do you think MCAT has? It may be harder for them to relocate some of their stuff than to pile it together and hope the combined weight lets them see off intruders.
Among other things, infiltration by Empty Faces is a concern they've probably been planning for for some time; the problem is that their expertise in magical security probably leaves a good deal to be desired compared to Onogoro's expertise in magical infiltration.
