Higher Potency makes powers stronger, regardless of what combination is used. It's just flat out better to have that number as high as we can manage.

Presumably we also want to be making more heroes next turn too, you know, and actions can also take income. If you have a compelling reason for why we should go all in this turn other than "bigger number better" I'm all ears, but I would also prefer not to overextend without good reason. Like currently we're positioned to potentially recruit another Tolerance 9 candidate and we're also picking up a bunch more recruits from Cenotaph.

We have a limited amount of hero slots, so rather than filling it with a bunch of mid-tiers, I'd really like to make the most of that space by filling it with people whose potency are as high as we can bring.

It helps with the stats too. The stat requiremenrs for missions can be pretty brutal, and the penalties incurred for not meeting them can be impactful to our chance of success.

Alright. I don't expect this to actually convince anyone, but here's a Potency 10 build that's not just slapping an extra Potency 1 profile onto another build.

Aegis
DNA Profiles: Bulwark (4), Chatroom (4), Steadfast (2)
Potency: 10 (-3 for 7 Tolerance)
Donor Keywords: [Ally Empowerment] x 2, [Clairvoyance], [Energy Manipulation], [Invulnerability]

Chatroom had the ability to connect people telepathically. Bulwark had the ability to generate protective shields on others. Steadfast had the perfect defense. Combined, this is a power that provides powerful protection to others, physically and mentally. The name Aegis is used here for its meaning as a shield, protection, and guidance.

We want a power that can counter psychic powers, and we want a power that can buff our team. This does both. And you can't replicate it for a candidate who only has 9 Tolerance.

Prince failed to successfully capture Mammoth however, for unknown reasons.
It's because he cut a hole in his head and stuck an implant in there to regulate the pleasure center of his brain. He did this AFTER his newly erratic behavior drove off his family.
On one hand QM says shes actually sympathic with good reason in believing shes the only one preventing SSuration for happening agian.
She has reasons . . . they may not be GOOD ones. Even a monster has reason for acting like that, even if it's a cold comfort to their victims.
Very nice! Canon, +1!
If you can SoS the same person 2x in a turn whats the point of Fast Pass?
It's significantly cheaper.
Can't have all these Artwork otherwise
Unfortunately, for weather reasons, there will be a slight delay on further artwork, but they're coming!

If there's a specific Potency 10 combination that you have in mind for him already then sure you can go for double boosting, but I haven't seen any suggestions to that effect, and anything past Potency 10 would be past the tolerance limit anyway.
There's been at least a few that have been bandied about so far? Just diving into Ops/Esp oriented builds below rather than the hit oriented ones.

Bulwark + Fast Track + Steadfast + Millions - Potency 3 = Potency 7 is a functionally unkillable speedster support build where every bit matters and would be far worse off at 6 to the point I wouldn't put it forward as an option here.

Chatroom + Bulwark + Millions - Potency 3 = Potency 6 is theoretically possible at 6 but this opens up the options of Soldier X or Mr. Hunch as a +1 for John (Soldier X for the Fitness tag just to get this scientist into actually workable shape or Mr. Hunch for potential information transceivers with some espionage boosting) which are both genuinely pretty valuable.

Ispy + Miss Conception + Hunch + Millions - Potency 3 = Potency 6 is honestly not badly self contained, providing 2 each of Clairvoyance, Invisibility, and Energy manipulation. However, adding in Daggermaw would add in Transformation, Enhanced Senses, and Enhanced Strength for 1 more cost, where Enhanced Senses seems genuinely useful with how Ispy and Miss Conception work, and Enhanced Strength could be a good final self defense option.

This would have the Enhanced Strength and Clairvoyance for the Wolong synergy, and if Energy Manipulation or Enhanced Senses are the 3rd section this would be a mini synergy locked down that wouldn't be possible otherwise. Though this idea likely requires going for the Clairvoyance synergy finishing if wanting this build in particular.

Have we received the new global actions from eTraction yet? Or was that supposed to be the upgrades to Spoonful and Prometheus?

I don't think there's any doubt that we want Ellie as a 10 tolerance hero either this turn or the next. So that money is earmarked anyway, no point in saving it. There might be a case to hold off on empowering Ellie once she gets her spoonful, but that will not yield extra money because it would then be spent on her next turn.

The question is if an extra 1 tolerance for John is worth having no reserve next turn. I foresee our 4 global actions going to waste next turn if we run dry, but we do have a rare opportunity to get 3 spoonfuls in a single turn.

For synergies, I'm hoping that two incomplete synergies will let us infer more things about the space of psychic powers, since I'm almost certain that a psychic synergy will have [Clairvoyance] or [Mental Manipulation].

If we do three spoonfuls, there's a chance that we can't:
  • Recruit for Project Prometheus next turn.
  • Study Fast Pass for any T7s that we might get from Cenotaph.
  • Power up said candidates to ask more Wolong questions and discover more synergies.
And while we might get income from Hero Worship, it could also be a income-or-Yara choice like from back in Faustian.

Kermie has some good points, might be best to just do two instead of three. Cash would also be needed to expand the Apairy if I remember right. That includes rooms for stats but also hero slots.

While I agree with your first two points, I feel like I should point out that simply not doing Spoonful of Sugar or Prometheus next turn isn't guaranteed to mean we won't get to ask Wolong any questions. He'll still be working with us, after all.

Frankly, I'd prefer just doubling John and doing Noelle next turn just since I'm pretty sure we can handle Hero Worship without her (given we assumed we were going without in the first place) and raising John's cap gives us more permanent power and opens a few build options, I'm just also approval voting the triple grouping since it achieves that.

In the world that ends up winning I'd probably still advocate for keeping Noelle's empowerment till next turn since we'd probably be doing her at turn start anyway and it gives at least something going into next turn depending on our actions.

So... I had a bit of a thunk

This isn't on topic, but I remember people talking about EB last night and it got me thinking (as most things do) as for how that will effect our tactics and plans going forward.

My first point, parroted from something I said before, is that Exceed-Beyond... is exactly what Crusader needs right now. Setting it up will give them a perfect target for their campaign of slander- we could see a dip of 7 reputation per turn or even 8 if we were to send it out!

"Exceed-Beyond, the weapon that could wake the Leviathan!" "The armor forged by the mad and close to rebounding Valiant Silver, a product of terrible experiments!" "The proof that Justice Unlimited need to repent for their crimes!"
The taglines are very obvious to me.

However, thinking tactically... Exceed-Beyond is a good scapegoat for Project Prometheus. Hell! It even is a partial proof!

"The ability to give non Meta-Human's powers." That right there describes Exceed-Beyond AND the Project. We could try to shadow the truth with another- and it isn't even a lie! Exceed-Beyond requires someone who isn't already a Meta-Human in order to function correctly. It's the perfect cover and would get a lot of people to back off if they think they now know the truth.

This also- Hey do you all remember uh- The scene where the New Dawn folks shake hands with that lady then forgot about her? I'm worried that might have been Social Butterfly and... well who did she shake hands with?

Wolong, who as we saw can use his power to check how valid a statement is.

If Social Butterfly is connected to this whole attempt to get to the secret of Project Prometheus then having truthful statements is a must for successfully fooling our opponents.

something like:
"Project Prometheus is simple in nature: A Project founded by the late Valiant Silver in order to grant non Meta's powers. Exceed-Beyond is proof of her skill and know-how- an armor that can become a person's power. However, without Valiant Silver, Exceed-Beyond may be the only of it's kind for a long time."

All of that up there? It's the truth. There is nothing factually wrong about any of that- it's all true! That, should we get a chance to pass it by Wolong to verify, may be enough to get past any checks over if we are telling the truth or not!

Oh boy I could have written a fic- instead I wrote about how to strategize using Exceed-Beyond to project Project Prometheus from being discovered. Oh well!

WITH GOD AND ANIME ON OUR SIDE — StarSingerBlue
I think the R-Train secretely has a Gunpla hobby, and it needs lots of money to fund it.

Or maybe it's a Gacha addict./jk
Remember when I said this ?

I decided to expand on that idea.

I regret nothing.

WITH GOD AND ANIME ON OUR SIDE

The QZ was a place of horror: starkly contrasted with lifeless stone, the goldnine either churned like a thing possessed or was worryingly quiet.

And everywhere, everywhere the Behemoths: most of them lying still, great staring statues, but there had been a couple of fights in the past, made difficult by the fact touching goldnine would mean death for you and most of the rest of Justice Unlimited.

You and Chatelet are aboard a military helicopter, loaded with the precious bounty you'll be trading for goldnine. Valiant Gold and Black Swan are flying up ahead, looking for any sight of danger, they both have massive backpacks on, loaded with more of the trade goods.

The stuff didn't come cheap: you could up Devin's Tolerance for that amount of money. But there isn't any other way to get Goldnine, and you need more members for Justice Unlimited: you have no excuse to delay purchase with Dr. Ibis's base restored for your use.

The first R-Train drone you see is the size of a motorbike, a small gunship whose sensors point at you like the eyes of a curious dog.

Soon, the number of drones grows, all of them turning towards you blank-faced as you fly past.

And in the heart of the QZ you find one of the R-Train's great cores, a mountain of towering synthesizers and skyscraper-sized mechs. They guard a massive platform, suspended far above the goldnine, via anti-gravity and guarded by several squadrons of gunships that could tear your meager helicopter to shreds.

Mona goes forth, and starts negotiating for the goldnine: you are hoping for at least three doses's worth today, enough to tide you over for a while.

You land in the middle of the huge platform and smaller robots, optimized for precise motions, eagerly come forth to relieve you of your goods.

Several million dollars's worth of anime merchandise: figurines, mostly, both to be meticulously assembled by some of the R-Train's drones and already fully set up, nestled into plastic boxes. And then plushies, a whole mountain of them: you had accidentally opened the cupboard in which they were stored last week and had had to spend half an hour digging yourself out of the mountain of fluff. You had also gotten for the R-Train voluminous stacks of manga, doujinshi and artbooks, enough to fill several trucks, and sufficient stickers to plaster at least two of its biggest mechs in. And then there was other, stranger merch: playing cards, pens, clothing, even a number of limited edition snacks even though it was a robot and didn't need to eat.

You thanked whatever heavens existed Mona had talked it into accepting a number of subscriptions to various platforms, and that it had the ability to make DVDs and CDs from that. Otherwise, you'd need another helicopter.

Mona was chatting excitedly to one of the drones, talking about some fan merch for a "Precure" show she'd seen online. You suppressed a groan: fan merch took far more time to arrive than official when ordered online, and you didn't look forward to going to one of those dreadful conventions again.

Next to you, Chatelet instructs the drones on how to unpack the cargo, and breaks up several fights between their different opinions on which merch should go to which shrines, as well as scolding one that decided to open one of the "Gunplas" right there and start building.

Noelle stands posed in the air, arms crossed in what you would think was a professional, serious pose if you hadn't known for a fact she had started doing it after taking a shine to that ancient mecha show she and Mona had watched last week.

You sigh loudly. Well, at least they were having fun.

If inflation's already kicked in (since it's 2068 in-universe) this is genuinely a spectacular deal for 3 goldnine.

Great Omake! Made me almost laugh in public.

Just read the update after more than 12 hours past when I first saw it. Sorry about that.

You know, for an update that was partly initially pitched as "The Meanest Thing to Ever Happen to Dr Ibis", I was expecting something more on that Mean aspect. I sorta saw the daughter part coming, did not expect Dr. Ibis to drive the whole gameshow that was meant to poke fun at him.

I'll take a look at the list of power combinations tomorrow. I don't have the brainpower to keep up with the discussion on best power combinations for John Henry, who speaking of, I'm glad he gets a moment here.

Also god we need to finish sorting out OID control and general base expansion given we're at 5 slots left and are staring at 6 people trying to fill them (John, Noelle, Belle, Yara, Sparksurfer, and Jorōgumo) even without counting reforming New Dawn under us or Homer as another 10 tolerance or the new recruits from Cenotaph.
As Wing pointed out, there's gonna be a Global Action soon that'll help mitigate that, but yeah, we need to go base hunting. It's why I did that initial pitch of going Abarimon alongside Third Person and Demon Flamez.

Wow that chapter was a roller-coaster. The whole eTraction! section really showcases how much Dr. Mammoth Ibis has changed since joining up with JU. And look at all the people he helped (except for Dario)!

Look Mona, Maddie's become a meme, too!

What a way to reunite with your daughter. Dr. Massive Ibis (wow that naming scheme really carried on to his daughter huh) is such a huge asset, we just need to make sure to earn the income to make use of her talents.

And Dr. Ibis isn't the only one who's changed for the better. It's nice to see Lady Leizi and John Henry have a moment that highlights who they've become and shows IC that John's stance on things moving forward.

I think Noelle can wait a turn so that John can be all powered up to deal with Smoke in the Water. Plus, even though it works mechanically, it feels jarring in story for Lady Leizi to trust Noelle so quickly with EB (the plan is to give Noelle EB, right?).
