[Sakura's Heart]

Sakura pressed her hand against the wall of the shower, letting the hot wascade fall down her back and puddle onto the floor. It was hot, but not as hot as the water running down her face, salty and unleashed unbidden. She had kissed Shirou, she had kissed the boy she loved, she had… sullied him. She loved him, she loved him more than anything else in the world. He was the only thing she did love, the only thing she could. But he couldn't love her, nobody ever could. How could they? She was worthless.

No.

Someone can be fond of worthless things. She was less than worthless, she was less than garbage, she was a grain of dirt, to be ignored and not thought about. Useless in all things. Nothing would grow on her soil, ruined as it was. She was fundamentally… an inconsequential thing, and she knew that. But still, she had dared. She had pushed, and she had gone too far, much too far. It was kind enough that he was taking care of her, that he was willing to protect her, but that was, in essence, Shirou. He would do that for anyone, and there was nothing more to it than that. Assassin had told her she was beautiful, that Shirou loved her… but that was a lie. She was Sakura Matou, and she wasn't welcome there, that name meant nothing to her. She used to be Sakura Tohsaka, and there she hadn't been wanted, she had been sold.

It had been the only time she had been of any worth.

Her hand moved to her lip, her fingers digging into it. She was a whore, nothing more. Sakura Matou knew this, and as she felt that drive within herself. That desire forced onto her that was omnipresent. She could do nothing but make herself bleed. For she deserved nothing more. She was unclean, she was dirty, and she didn't ever deserved to be loved. But she would help him, Shirou… Shirou deserved that.

Then Sakura fell to the floor, as the desire returned once more painful and demanding. None heard her sobs above the crashing water. In truth, it was because everyone was distracted by Ayako. But to Sakura?

There was no difference.

No one ever cared to hear her cry before, and that would never change.

At the risk of kicking off a shipping war, this is why i dont like a lot of Rin shippers. Apathy and lack of empathy.

There are reasons i dont consider any of UBW to be a good ending.

[See where this is going]

You were so confused.

Thanks to @Armoury for the beta!

Ayako had… lost her mind. Or something was affecting her, you weren't sure which. But as you tore through the skyline at speed, you rather quickly came to the decision that attempting to struggle would likely only lead to you being dropped to your death. Medea was fast when she wanted to be, but she wasn't Rider. The chance of anyone catching you as you tumbled to your demise was miniscule, if not just being caught by Ayako. So, for the moment, you stayed put, hearing nothing but the shrieking wind in your ears intermixed with gleeful, manic laughter erupting from Ayako's lips with every building she lands upon.

"Safe, safe, you'll be safe! No more monsters, no more witches, no more magic! I can do it now, I can protect you!"

You open your mouth to refute that statement, or, to at the very least note you are the last person in the city that needed protection. But she speeds up once more, going from building to building in a mad dash across to the far southern end of the city. You craned your head back with difficulty, looking to see if Medea, or Mordred, or frankly anyone was chasing after you. But you couldn't see them if they were. You expected Mordred to be chasing, sane or not, the woman went after fights like Taiga did bad decisions. Medea… she was rather upset with you, frankly she may just be leaving you to your fate. But such thoughts are not helpful at the moment regardless, not when Ayako squeezes you harder against herself, squealing, babbling, saying everything and yet nothing in a manic frenzy of words like an entire orchestra starting up out of time.

And as you found yourself flung forward onto the hard ground of a roof, it would seem the cymbal player was making his presence known. Ayako slams into an AC unit, the metal denting inwards. It shrieks as the metal wall hits the internal fans, sparks shooting up as fragments of razor sharp metal launch themselves into the air. You watch, transfixed, as several shards land a few inches from your head, smoking.

"Get out!" Ayako shrieks.

You snap your head towards your cat-eared girlfriend. She was clutching either side of her head, a look of absolute agony on her face. Her body yanked itself this way and that, she was throwing herself across the roof. "Get out of my head!"

She flings herself forward, her body skidding across the rough roof and metal shards. You move towards her, making it about halfway before the hand holding the wand jerks up. Then her head snaps up as well, a bright, blissfully happy grin on her face. "Come on Shirou! Magical Neko Ayako Ruby is here to save you!" The chipper tone and the bright smile was at odds with the wide open eyes and the tears pouring down her face.

"Ayako, what has happened to yo-" you start to say, but you are interrupted by her teleporting to cross the distance between the two of you. Then taking off into the air once more. Her body was spasming, twitching as she moved. The arm not holding the wand, and by extension you, jerking and bending at unnatural, impossible angles. It did nothing to halt her movement however, the sound of wind was even louder now as she increased her speed, her gaze locked forward, unblinking.

It was another minute before you stopped again in front of a small home. It was a short, one story thing made in the old fashioned style so that there was no space between the neighbors. The door was hanging open, partially knocked off its hinges, and you had only a moment to observe that before you were inside. You landed in a heap upon a rug, and you jerked your body around to see Ayako slamming the door shut. It doesn't so much 'close' as 'merge with the wall' via the force of her shutting it. The off hinge door allowing some light in still. Ayako stared down at you, gleefully smiling from ear to ear. "This is the first time I've ever taken a boy home~"

You aren't sure what to say to that. "Ayako, are you… in there?"

Ayako's head tilts. "Why wouldn't I be? I'm better than I've ever been. We're going to stay here, you'll be with them. Okay, safe, no monsters…" She points a finger off to your left, and you turn your head to see… Minori, her brother. Laying on his back on the floor. Hands on his chest, eyes closed. For one, brief, terrifying moment you think him dead. But the rising and falling of his chest shows steady breathing. Sitting on the couch just beside him, one head resting on the others shoulder, was an older man and woman, her parents you would assume.

Then you find yourself grabbed by the front of your shirt, and you are bodily hauled into another room. It's a simple space, but not without decoration. Trophies stand proudly on shelves and banners line the walls. Pictures are placed all over, showing Ayako at different stages of her life, you have a moment to study them before the door to her room clicks shut, and you turn your head like a man facing his executioner to see Ayako standing there. The wand was now held in both of her hands, and the only remnant of tears are drying trails upon her face. Her smile was small, sweet, less manic.

"You'll be staying here Shirou, until all this is over, no more worrying about you while I'm at school okay? You'll just be nice and safe here, Magical Neko Ayako Ruby will take care of you." She gets down onto her knees, and stretching forth a hand she places it upon your chest. "I'll make all the pain go away, this wand is letting me finally keep you safe~"

… If you were going to do something, you'd best do it quickly.

[] [Go for the Wand]
Whatever was happening, that wand was likely involved.

  • [Mordred]

[] [Try and talk her down]
It's still Ayako in there, somewhere.

[] [Hold off]
You still don't rightly know what is going on.

this sounds like magical shenanigans!

Luckily we have an amazing witch on staff!

I trust Ayako to be able to nudge... whoever the fuck is actually in the driver's seat into going along with the talking since she is able to seize control for brief moments and is clearly still fighting. On the other hand getting rid of the wand'll take care of the problem entirely if it works (assuming Shirou doesn't get possessed of course), which is a big if now that I think about it, given she was shown flashstepping here

but you are interrupted by her teleporting to cross the distance between the two of you
So that might be a bit too much to expect Shirou to actually accomplish
never seen that either!

I've played F/SN and watched Fate/Zero
TLDR: Ruby is locked in a chest in Rin's attic for damn good reason, what it's doing to Ayako now is kind of its' preferred pastime, namely, pulling alternate you's from parallel realities and overlaying them on you to the point where you forget who you were and become someone else entirely until it somehow leaves your possession.

well... ... damn

still me first instinct is to summon Medea, magical shenanigans = summon caster. Of course that might make Mordred decide to go hunt to kill mode since Medea will just up and vanish.

"Safe, safe, you'll be safe! No more monsters, no more witches, no more magic! I can do it now, I can protect you!"

Poor silly mind-whammied Ayako, doesn't even realize she's absolutely main-lining magic.

Ayako slams into an AC unit, the metal denting inwards.

Ah yes, braking and landing, every novice's first major hurdle!

You snap your head towards your cat-eared girlfriend. She was clutching either side of her head, a look of absolute agony on her face. Her body yanked itself this way and that, she was throwing herself across the roof. "Get out of my head!"

Fight Ayako! Don't let that jumped up pool cue take control, show Ruby who's boss!

Then her head snaps up as well, a bright, blissfully happy grin on her face.

Or, you know, get hit with magical drugs. That works too.

Ayako's head tilts. "Why wouldn't I be? I'm better than I've ever been. We're going to stay here, you'll be with them. Aaaand Ruby has make Ayako go full yandere! Alrighty then!

Look, I don't it might not work, but it might, and we're overdue for a Taiga dojo anyways, let's go for the direct approach. I don't think Shirou is particularly likely to try to call a servant when both A: He's not actively at threat of dying; and B: Noone else is actively at threat of dying.

Hell, in the original VN, when Rider lures him into the forest and he's strung up by a nail through his arm fully believing Rider is about to kill him, the only non-bad end is to not summon Saber.

... wonder how Shirou will react to holding the wand. ...

*considers Archer, assorted timelines, etc*

woman went after fights like Taiga did bad decisions.
Ouch. Poor Taiga. No respect for Japan's educators.

Hmm.

Magical boys aren't quite as cute.
This is Shirou. He's an exception. Half the Nasuverse says so.
