Springtime of Nations II: A European Republic Quest

Praxis in what sense? My understanding of Praxis is going out and joining a mutual aid network or something rather than reading a theory book.

You know what, never mind. Im going to disentangle myself from this conversation before i accidentally say something rude.

Well yes, but Germany does not have one position on things. We have people who want to centralise everything right away and we have people who would want to do land distribution and not much else. It'd save a lot of arguing if we just let Etranger roll a dice and say "okay the Danes are communists, the Poles are Jacobins, and there's a weird anarchist thing going on in Istria", for example.

Istria:

Why would Wagner leave? Guy was a revolutionary republican. He died in 1883, so he might have ended up in exile with the civil war, but he seems quite unlikely to have left this Germany.

I guess I only ever looked at his politics in the 1860's on where they were decidedly Unwholesome.

I guess I can see the angle of the Ring cycle being anti-monarchist/clerical in subtext even if its contemporary audiences definitely didn't take it that way.

[X] We will balance all concerns with a typical reconstruction process.

I don't like the thought staying longer than the local population prefers.

[X] We will guarantee enduring democracy with an extended reconstruction process.
It'll apparently be cheaper in the long run and my initial moderate vote was partially because I am a cheapskate.

FWIW, I'd have preferred a lighter hand in the reconstructions of the independent republics, but the territory we have incorporated (which includes the Austrian imperial core and one of its most important kingdoms) needs reconstruction as well, and we are required to apply the same reconstruction policy to both incorporated and unincorporated territory. I am not willing to countenance the possibility of another Imperial Banner in the southeast of the expanded Republic because we were not thorough enough.

We can have a plank to shorten the schedule for Poland and Ruthenia as soon as we're back to regular turns, I suppose?

That could look bad for PR, since we promised to go the full mile and quietly cutting it short halfway.

Cutting reconstruction early is also a bad idea in general, we've learned that the hard way, let's not learn it again.

Eh the main issue we learned the hard way is not doing reconstruction at all because the conservatives want a power base.

Cutting the schedule a bit if things are going well from the local end should still be in the cards.

we have a hand on the scales, we should use it,

And I am saying that we should not use it and that it would be undemocratic and so my assumption is that we don't and the most we do is play security guard for the elections and reconstruct in a normal way, nobody is going to care if we construct a textile factory before a machine factory. No one is looking into it with such detail for small amounts of unconscious and unintended bias that you fear.

Also sorry for late reply, it is extremely late at night for me.

Can we encourage investment from the United States and other friendly countries? Especially ones with Central European communities?

The nice thing about a long reconstruction is we can see if it's working or not, and if it is, cut it short.
