I would love to have a Reformist Italy since the Church is corrupt and (somewhat) backwards in a time where every kingdoms are becoming less religious.

engineering Is an amalgamation of not only civil and military engineering but also of mechanical.
 
Glad to see this restarted

some thoughts

  1. we should look into working on some of our ruling/kingly stats. We're a brilliant engineer, now it is time to become a Brilliant and Bright king. Perhaps even a "Sun King" :D
  2. Keeping the balance between the republicans, monarchists, and moderates will be important.
  3. While it might be fun to strike out on adventures immediately, perhaps taking some time to look inward and improve is what is needed. Italy has suffered a hard time in the last decade +, time heals all wounds, and with work we can build back better (TM)
  4. Keeping the church on our side is important as we are Italy, perhaps look into papal politics? Perhaps some temporal pressure to stop them from the worst of their excesses at least.
  5. Let's have some FUN dwarf fortress style !

The problem is, we are not exactly a rich nation right now, and despite our victories and the very fact that we have to deal with rebuilding sicily... well we're not going to get any grand projects anytime soon.

After all, there will not be a great deal of wealth gained into Rome unlike OTL because The Pope dosen't have the Spanish giving them boatloads of gold for them to use to restore Rome.

Military adventurism isn't a great idea.

Now colonial ventures? Possibly. I mean there is a whole new world out there.

And an old world that Africa and Asia can use.

Honestly, if we want an empire it should be more on a realistic size since Italy's population isn't as big like France, HRE, Ottoman and England/United Kingdom.
