[X] [BELEGAR] Daemon and weakening
[X] [COLLEGE] Incoming Everchosen

Don't keep Belegar in the dark on his own patch, we have a responsibility there.

Do keep the Colleges in the dark on things that aren't helpful to them and could be unhelpful to us. No it doesn't give Tzeentch leverage over us.

"I told Mathilde about all this!"
"The lying god of lies lied to you."

His credibility in a He-said-She-said scenario is limited.

To act on its words is to allow it to win. Therefore, do not.
Tzeentch despises doing nothing, stasis is its antithesis (hence why it hates Nurgle). It's the biggest middle finger we can give!

However, Tzeentch is also the God of Lies. Lying (by omission) and concealing the truth aligns just as well with his domain as acting upon the information.

The whole "What does the birb of Tzeetch want" is an endless loop of "It wants us to act on the information - but it did that specifically knowing we would act on it so best to not act on it - but it would know we'd know so it's a double bluff -"
That is all irrelevant, and impossible to base a decision around. That sort of decision malaise and second guessing of the self is also part of the plot, and leads to nowhere besides. Endlessly going about in circles and winning regardless of what you do or do not do, is what the Plotter lives for.
There is no insight to be gained from there.

Instead we should look at the factors we do know:
Everything that just happened.
Dubious information received.
Our knowledge of our own character.
Expected probable reactions of our allies and superiors, and consequences (good and bad) thereof.

That's it.

Attempting to divine if the birbrain wants us to do something or wants us to not do something is impossible, futile, and counter-productive, and the very process itself is just another facet of its trap.

It's not the same thing. It's like we jumped into a pool that may have been full of sharks, but the dice decided that it was full of dolphins instead. Now, we know there's only dolphins in there so we can jump in it.
See that is the logic falacy, you think we are jumping at the same poll, we are not going to go to Belegar, Kragg and Gunnar and tell them we were possesed be Mork, that would be the poll, we are jumping on a entirely new poll, multiple ones even, but because last time there were dolphis and an heroic lifesaver, you are assuming there will be no sharks in any of them, and forgetting we had no need to test in the first place.

It doesn't work that way, you are basicaly saying that because we survived swiming with sharks once we will surely do so every time.
Let me use another example from that time with the dispelling of the waagh, yes we got a trait that makes it more likely to repeat the event, but is never a sure thing. In the same vein we have better chances now that we are more trusted, but if it wasa mistake then, and is likely a mistake now, why repeat it when we know the best result is that we survive a mistake ?
That is the question I have for you, why it is less a mistake now to swin with sharks for no reason just because we gained some chaimail ?

That is a nonsensical allegory, and besides, we only survived "swimming with sharks" because the dice decided there was a coastguard ready to pull us out. That is still true. Telling Belegar about the Mork thing was not a mistake—it might have been, but it wasn't, because the dice rolled in favour of us and that crit is still in play. It modified reality, because that's how the dice interact with the quest.

we had a miscast, a smug bird gave us a phone call, and now we are reporting the consequences of that miscast to the local king, who not only trusts us, but we've trusted with much more serious information before. That is not a mistake. That is being responsible.

Belegar has had our back, and we'll have his. Even when the mistake was our own.

As to the colleges, I'd still prefer full disclosure, but I'll also accept one step lower.

EDIT: Also, because I just think that getting the Stochastic/Survivorship-Bias Everchosen idea into the Grey College is a good idea. If it becomes known to the institution that this is a game of many where no one is predestined, then that's a tool's that could be used to break the mystique of those who are falling for a predeterminism spiel down the line. (IE: The Archaons of the world)

(Of course, that's also a vulnerability to those who would choose to buy lottery tickets, but there are no shortages of tools that are as dangerous as they are useful, and the Grey College of all places seems like one able to contain its spread while also making good use of it.)

"Do you know what tickles me most about all of this? It's that every word I say will further excavate a warren of bad decisions that you will have to scurry your way through."

Don't play yourself.
This is honestly kind of a ridiculous thing to base any line of reasoning off of.
Any decision could be a bad one.

Any attempt to base what to do next off of it is essentially just going: "Well I know the decision I personally want isn't bad because it's good, that's why I want it, so that makes every decision I don't want a trap."

So why are we telling the Coleges anything again ? We didn't tell then about the Mork remenber ?
Is the same situation, we are swiming whitout knowing the results, is hoping for the new coastguard worthy it ?
This is not ''if the plan work is not stupid situation'' is a '' if we can only lose why play'', what do we gain be speaking that is worth the risk ? because last time it was nothing, and its why it was a mistake.

It would be funny if after the butterflies the thirteenth Everchosen was a Skaven.

Well, less funny and more very fucking problematic, but you get what I mean.
I for one would welcome an Everchosen focused more on the Skaven than humans. Which is what would happen if a skaven got the job.

Hm, wonder if any Everchosen got killed by an orc.

Do we gain anything from revealing our candidacy? It would just make everything we do from now on and a lot of what we previously did suspect, we can take the hit about talking to the demon, but pointing fingers to ourselves is very inadvisable.

We know the College policy when they suspect daemonic corruption (we were too conveniently helpful and got a possession-check and an anti-Chaos class), and we know how they responded to the last Greater Daemon we met (in battle, but so was this in many ways), which was pretty chill all things considered. The circumstances are a tad different this time, but not enough to make the response concerning.

That calculus changes a little if we mention being an Everchosen candidate and I'm not sure that's useful, but just mentioning the daemon shouldn't actually be that big a deal.
