[X] His grudge is against the world. He is alone, and wears his isolation as a crown. He deems this strength. Every time he is proven wrong, his grudge grows. (+1 Isolation XP)

[X] His grudge is against community itself. He thinks it's contracts and strictures as false and hollow as his own dealings. That he is superior for seeing this, where others do not. (+1 Community XP)

I feel this is more specific and fits his backstory better. He didn't act like some edgy lone wolf, but like a mafia boss. He has a problem with communal obligation structures like his family, the Sect and the Empire, but has no problem trapping others into similar unequal obligation networks, that he thinks those have placed him.

Now... let's not get ahead of ourselves. Sure, it is unforgivable and terrible... and the Empire does it as well. Lest we forget that when the initial probe into Shishigui territory a target that the expedition leader wanted to hit was civilian infrastructure. Or the entire tribe of cloud nomads that were slain except for one escapee.
Ah, but those "weren't people"; the only people that count as "people" are imperial citizens, of course, which means that it's only not okay when their enemies slaughter largely defenseless civilian populations.

Ling Qi feels like an existentialist, CRX more like traditional morality gal and Meizhen... i have no idea what Meizhen is.
I'm pretty sure Meixhen is currently between outlooks, having realized recently that just following the local version of Hammurabi's code might be improved upon.

In fairness to Meizhen and Renxiang, I think that they legitimately and sincerely wouldn't do this to barbarian civilians, and would consider any Imperial cultivators who did so to be behaving inappropriately and, in the case of Renxiang, probably criminalize such behavior. They're engaging in some Imperial chauvinism here, but mostly inasmuch as they believe (or at least, would like to believe) that Imperial cultivators wouldn't do that sort of thing, not on any large scale anyway.

Yan Renshu may be standing with the Ith against the empire, and there are reasons for why he became as he is.
But, at this point, i think there is no group that he will not turn against unless the group makes him the leader.
He is not part of anything, he is not on the side of anything, except himself, and anything that he perceives to hold him back, either by actively opposing him or just not providing every advantage he desires, is his enemy.

hm, I'm seeing a theme here >.>
