I prefer Wilhemine over us, because I can't see an apprentice who has absorbed Mathilde's personality settling down and actually running the EIC the way that it needs to be run long term.

She may well inherit still, but I think she would neither be as satisfied, or as skilled at Empire-improving financial wizardry.

[x] Wilhelmine

I think it is, but it's possible I named her that on purpose because I thought it was funny and then forgot I did it.
This is one of those things that I don't think of at all. To me, 'EIC' is an abbreviation pronounced as 'E - I - C' in my head, while 'Eike' is pronounced as an actual word, and it feels strangely wrong to mix the two. I guess it's because Eike is something that looks like a word, while eic doesn't register as anything but an abbreviation?

I had a weird tangent where I decided to look up Maximillian's last name to see if that tells me anything about him, and I came across a person plastered all over the searches because he has the exact same name as Max. I suppose it's not all that surprising. Only so many combinations out there.

In terms of Max, I suppose he's from Gaynesford, wherever that is in Warhammer. Google says Britain.

I expected him to be a blacksmith :V

The choice is clear. I really hope Eike becomes a very strong narrative presence instead of hanging in the background outside of social link scenes. This is Mathilde's successor, and I'm super interested in how Mathilde will teach her.

Huh. I can't remember where I got Max's name from, but it seems like all the information on his wikipedia page was added (apparently by the person himself) after the character was introduced to the quest, so I don't think it would have been a deliberate reference. Maybe I encountered the name elsewhere and liked the sound of it, or it could just be pure coincidence.

Maximillian de Gaynesford capitalising off the DL fanbase to get people to read his books now that someone has used it in a work of fiction. Clearly the moment he's been waiting for. Read his philosophy books about how to make Hilary Putnam's "contributions to modern philosophy accessible to those without expertise in such matters" now!

Well, I might not be joking about that. I've had a very brief look at Hilary Putnam and the idea of a Philosopher who's consistently changed his mind on topics and even attacked his own former philosophies sounds interesting.

Nah, going by the history tab, he's had a page since 2005.

This is what it looked like in 2007.

Mathilde could designate Eike as her heir, but being heir to a Knighthood doesn't formally make one a noble until they inherit, you need a loftier title for nobility to 'trickle down' like that.
... Speaking of heirs, and inheritance; forgive me if this is a verboten idea but I've been thinking of the flicker-rune training sword and the fact Eike will be expected to have her style set up a long time before I see Mathilde setting down the blade.

My question is, can we put in an order (pay with AV, I'm presuming) for a second Moonlight Wit sword in a number of years if we manage to get our hands on some more gromril?

(Releatd, to thread: As Mathilde grows a fair bit older, and slower, I'd want to bother some Shyllans about that de-aging thing in a few decades. I'm sure it'll be easy to get :p)

Mathilde is not in need of such things for the forseeable future. She may be a 38 year old, but she is still as sprightly and quick as she was at 20, if not quicker. Age won't catch up to her for a good long while.

If Eike wants to learn a weapon, I'm sure we can set something up. I'm not sure we'd be able to get a second Branulhune, or even anything on the same level, especially for an untested and unproven plaitling, however.

Yaaa, that be true. Two things though

1. I'm talking about the 'distant' future, in 20+ years.
2. Main reason however; I'm 32 and am really projecting

(Oh, third thing: Mathilde's fighty skills are cool and were a big investment, and the "Poke Shylla until she makes you young*" is linked to the idea of a second sword as I am explictly thinking in the 'three or more decades-scale long term' when I say "Not wanting Mathilde to put down her sword soon".

*Poking is obviously how that whole thing works.

I was unclear in my first post. This is a decade or more from now, and is assuming Eike wants to go down that style of combat.
---
Edit: Where this idea comes from:
1. I want a basic flicker-sword for training.
2. Good flicker sword is probably useful in its own right and use shoulf be made of it
3. Eike is my first thought of who should use the Flicker-Sword we will have lying around
4. Eike is probably going to learn something very close to Mathilde's style
5. Eike may well probably have a part of her that wants the super cool sword
6. I want Mathilde to be swording for literal decades, like at least 4 or 5 more, so Eike wont be getting Mathilde's weapon any time soon
7. Solution: Get second Moonlit Wit

(I've laid these out so people can see where I'm coming from with the question I asked Boney. Please please don't point out "Eike might not even want to have that sword or turn out to have negative talent for melee combat." Please.

I'm just asking if my idle idea is viable or if DL-verse has some sort of 'rule of pride' where Kragg won't make a second Moonlit Wit)

I'm mainly alright with becoming Eike's master instead of Wilhelmine for one major reason:

She already has a Stewardship mentor: her grandmother.

We can teach her how to gray wizard, and our Stewardship is decent if not exceptional. That's more than good enough, seeing as Eike has another Stewardship teacher to guide her.
