Ha! I like this guy."What's the difference between a Mage and a politician?" You give him a questioning look. "Once tries to wrestle poorly-understood forces into submission for personal gain despite the fact that it could all blow up in his face and ruin the lives of everyone around him, and the other casts spells."
You can't help but join him in laughter.
Zlata is hilarious. She may not have been the biggest get for the project, but she's good company at least.Zlata stares forlornly out over a park full of Elven athletes. "They had me swear a vow of chastity," she bemoans, "and sent me to the land of beautiful men."
"We are all called on to sacrifice for our peoples," you commiserate.
"Hopefully our business here ends on good terms," she says with a heartfelt sigh, "so I can return after I am promoted."
"that an Ice Witch of greater age and experience like Ljiljana or Věnceslava" what? I think the "that" either needs a follow-up or to just be dropped, as the sentence works without it.And while you might have preferred that an Ice Witch of greater age and experience like Ljiljana or Věnceslava, there's something to be said for someone who's too intimidated to play games, and won't do anything but her best.
A surprisingly tempting list of options - Wilhelmine especially. But in the end, I can honestly really only choose:[ ] You
Eike will become the Apprentice of Lady Magister Mathilde Weber.
[ ] Wilhelmine
Eike will become the Apprentice of Lady Magister Wilhelmine von Bucht, Bursar of the Grey Order.
[ ] Starke
Eike will become the Apprentice of Lord Magister Reiner Starke, Porter of the Grey Order.
[ ] Regimand
Eike will become the Apprentice of Magister Regimand Speiseschrank.
You nod. "I work with her grandmother in a trade concern in Stirland, and Eike's to inherit her grandmother's stake in it."
"The EIC, yes. I've encountered them a time or two in my other job, they're a nightmare to suborn. Was Eike named after the company?"
To be fair, that's also Mathilde herself to a T. Sure, she's obviously Ranaldite, but someone who hasn't quite grokked that yet could easily mistake her for Sigmarite. Before I go to bed, I also want to say: It's hilarious that Mathilde did such a good job instilling ideals of patriotism and national unity in the EIC, that now its various members are a royal pain for the rest of her Order to get any kind of leverage on.
She basically admitted to trying to install Ranald in the Stirland Watch because she was upset with Sigmar, and leaves a trail of His four Faces everywhere she goes, yet somehow she was instrumental in creating an organization that appears wildly out of character to anything remotely Ranaldian. It looks almost Agnostic from the outside, being about profit and not faith, but it would otherwise easily be mistaken for a Sigmarite Mercantile Cult due to their chest-thumping patriotism and die-hard unwillingness to even glance at a Dwarf with anything less than complete forthrightness.
Reiner Starke must be so confused.
