Fuck the Cult of Sigmar honestly. Hell, @Boney could we take a shot at finding proof that Sigmar gave the sites to these Hedgewise? Dwarf records might have something, etc? Because there's no bigger theological hammer than 'you disobeyed your God's instructions, and because of it Chaos rules these sites he entrusted to these people you murdered'.

I think Boris would be psyched enough about new waystones to agree to even Shrines, but the Ice Witches and the Widow would probably object, especially if they've modified the existing waystones to empower the Widow

Whilst that's true, I am concerned that at this stage we have no Major House commitment to the project. I voted for Tindomiel partly for the political connections, and we can limit their reach to just Laurelorn, where they already wield a lot of influence. Getting the Heir involved solves this problem neatly by giving us a foot in the door in regards to Eonir nobility, and gives us a pipeline to the resources and institutional knowledge of the Cult of Hekarti.

So whilst "No" is a valid vote, I feel there is a safe "best of both worlds" vote that gets us the connections we need without making commitments we may regret down the line.

They should be fine in Laurelorn, the issue would be more since there's so many parties involved word of their participation would inevitably get out if they appear in a non secret guise. If this was something they had expressed any interest in to potentially parlay into a different role in society or similar I would consider it more, but since they didn't and at the end of the day we whammied them to even get them over here, I think choosing the most conservative option safety wise for them makes more sense. Rather than trying to essentially gamble on their behalf for something they don't seem that interested in.

Nah, just go full blitz on the Cult of Sigmar. Stole the duty of guardianship Sigmar bestowed and then fucked up and lost the keeps! Why, Longbeards will be marching out of the mountains to yell at random priests by the time we're done! Mostly because I believe 'bold as brass and all out audacious' is the best Grey Wizard aesthetic, but also because the Hedgewise are slowly dying out. They don't have centuries for things to get better.

The Dwarves left the Middle Mountains at the beginning of the Time of Woes, about fifteen hundred years before the time of Sigmar. The only human authorities in the area that might have written records going back that far would be the Cult of Sigmar themselves. It seems to me that the only party in the area that dates back far enough, would be keeping written records, and isn't subject to the Cult of Sigmar would be Melkhior.

While that's true enough, I worry that even just the Laurelorn agreement will ruffle the feathers of all the other major houses... and the Wards, actually.

Um.

Even just the Laruelorn region includes all of the Wards, many of which have their own magic traditions. And it's the Wards where (nearly?) all the Waystones themselves are actually going to be, not the City.

...On second thought, I'm withdrawing my approval vote for your Plan. This looks like, even at a minimum, House Tindomiel overreaching even in their home territory. I don't think it's a good idea to make this agreement at all.

Yes, we should use the mental influence we put on the Hedgwewise to pit them in a cage match against the most prominent cult in the Empire.

On the other hand you have to consider that Tindomiel has lived with these other houses/wards for thousands of years, and will have to continue to live with them for the foreseeable future. I think it's reasonable to expect they'll either be able to sell a Laurelorn monopoly, or if it's not sellable they won't even try in the first place, and will just settle for dominance.
 
Also, can I just say how excited I am that we've solved part of the riddle surrounding Ranald's daughters? Halétha, Protector of the Forest of Shadows, Daughter of Ranald and Shallya—it's a pleasure to meet you.

That's absolutely fair—the Laurelorn option does let them exert more influence on their home territory. Personally I feel the other houses have systems to prevent an excessive amount of overreach, and Tindomiel only gets to build the shrines if they have the resources and expertise needed to do so, otherwise we can shop around and find someone else. But it does mean they can put up a lot of shrines on their home territory, and shrines need priests, and priests need attendants, and offerings and so forth and that's a lot of soft power they'll accumulate over time.

I don't think one House's support is worth potentially antagonizing the entirety of the rest of Laruelorn. We got invited here by the Queen and a majority of their council to develop Waystones for all of Laurelorn, not just one single House.
