Gambler on lay the foundations please. Father can wait for another turn.

Looks just about perfect - I'm not the biggest fan of the EIC action choice but like, I also don't care that strongly about it, & otherwise everything's pretty much where I'd want it.

We want to bring in the Halethans this turn for Lay the Foundations and they're the ones we want to use the Father on.
We can still do that next turn, and making sure the overall Foundations goes well is just as important. Besides, if we absolutely totally must use Father no matter what, then why can't we do the Damsels as well (make a deal regarding the Iron Orcs and see if they trust us enough to give us the Damsel now in exchange for the Orc thing next turn) to get more use out of sacrificing the Gambler's bonuses for a turn?

@mathymancer, could one or both of the daughters be male gods? Ranald's more commonly portrayed as male in the Empire but he is also portrayed as female. Might be a similar situation with the daughters.

Your plan hinges entirely on the Lady indeed being Ranald's daughter, and if that's wrong, we'd be burning goodwill by bugging them a third time about the project when we know nothing's changed. All at the cost of another action we could instead be doing.

I don't see the relevance of Helatha et al to the project, and the foundation of the Waystone project is going to affect us essentially pretty much through the entire course of the project. A small impact or improvement right now could easily have cumulatively massive impacts down the road.

The Halethan Hedgewise are Hedgewise, and we want to bring Hedgewise into the project, ideally before its foundation.

Which is why that was a secondary idea. My primary point is still that the Hedgewise, while significant and on the to-recruit list, aren't worth sacrificing the +20s and who knows what kinds of narrative bonuses at one of the single most important actions in the arc to rush in on their lonesome.

If we do not do Book mine option these turn we will not do it next turn. Next turn will be use taking follow up action for the waystone and spending AP actions paying for recruitment. Or spending AP recruiting. That means mini adventures. I do not see people wanting to vote for book mine if we are already going to have mini adventures.

-[X] COIN: The Father

If we're using the Father anyway, let's check on the Damsels too. Otherwise we'll never get that bonus - there's always a better use for the Coin than the Father.

Worst case, we go and get a more thorough explanation of what they want in trade (because the Lady isn't the daughter). We'd get a scenic look at their Iron Orcs problem, which would be fun to read, even if we didn't take the job that turn.

Best case, we go and get their detailed terms, but also get a Damsel "on credit" ahead of fulfilling our part (because the Lady is the daughter, so they have faith in Mathilde).

I'd rather delay the AV-powerstone for a shot at getting a Damsel just in time to help Lay the Foundations.

It's a gamble, but an efficient one. And isn't that the true spirit of Ranald's parenting?

An entirely different magical tradition to introduce at the project's inception is in fact worth worth a pair of +20s. Furthermore, while important, Lay the Foundations isn't a critical action balanced on a knife's edge. A lack of the Gambler won't seriously affect it or the rest of the project. It's certainly not worth both leaving out the Hedgewise and delaying the investigation into Ranald's daughters.

If we never use the Father on Lady-related stuff, we'll never know for sure about that relationship. Isn't that also delaying the daughter investigations and throwing away the chance to have an additional magical tradition at the table for Foundations, if you value that above giving bonuses to the existing ones?
