Despite the memes and the big meeting of ancestors that not like being shown up.

Mathy's is not an dwarf, and the fact that the elf fought for a whole day before he was tired enough to matter against a dwarf means mathy is still going to be pushed to her limits if she joins leg day.
I'm very certain Kadoh would dunk on Mathilde on most if not all fitness areas. Johann is barely human anymore, he doesn't need to breath for example, so he's also likely to dunk on Mathilde. It's very much not fair.

For the record, Warhammer absolutely loves the idea of fighting for a day, or sometimes or more than a day. Sigmar and Morkar also fought each other for a day and night. I suppose it makes it pretty climactic and epic if they mention that it takes far, far too long for the fight to go on and the fighters still push on.

It think part of it is that, as it's physically impossible to fight that long seriously and still be able to even feebly wave a sword at the other, it makes both fighters look 'superhuman'.

Which is silly, because it will never beat the insanity of the real longest dual.

nineteen years and at least thirty duels. (Recorded, everyone believes those mad fucks took as many unofficial goes at each other as official ones.)

By the way, I'm blazing through a few Age of Sigmar books in my free time, and I feel the need to say this because I've seen some people refer to the Warhammer World as "Mallus". It is true that in Age of Sigmar, Mallus is the name of the Fantasy world, but it is specifically the name of the Broken World. The actual name for the Fantasy world is "The World-That-Was". Mallus is the name of the Broken World because Sigmar clung to it's core as it careened across the galaxy when he met Dracothian. Sigmar brought the wreckage of the Broken World to Azyr next to his palace so he could mine the star metal that formed its core, that he and his subordinates call "Sigmarite". That is why the Broken World is referred to as Mallus.

And if you're thinking that's egotistical. It very much is. Sigmar lays in the palace of Sigmaron surrounded by the celestial nebula known as Sigmarabulum with the High Star Sigendil above him. Sigmar is unbelievably egotistical it's genuinely unbelievable.

Why am I saying this? Being the pedant that I am, I just want to make it clear that the Warhammer Fantasy world at this point in time is not Mallus and it would be incorrect to call it that.

Yeah, this is something I try to push back on every now and then, but the idea that the canonical name for the world is Mallus even in Warhammer Fantasy is pretty deeply embedded.

It doesn't help that the Warhammer Fantasy world was never given a name and was literally referred to in several sourcebooks for Fantasy as "The Warhammer World". That is a serious mouthful. Nobody wants to say or write that when they can give a shorter more direct and concise name. When Age of Sigmar came out with a name for the world, people latched on to it even though the context in which its name was given doesn't apply. That's why it seems incredibly Sigmar-Centric to have the name be Mallus. It's very true that Age of Sigmar has Stormcast headlining it and it's literally Age of Sigmar, but at least they give a reason for the egotistical name. Considering how many giant statues Sigmar has in cities he looks over, I have a feeling that he thrives off that stuff.

To be fair, when you get around to reading the soul-bound RPG book. (I'm meh on them, they are kind of scion 2ed with a AoS paint job as far as tone goes)

Sigmar doesn't thrive off of that shit, he Literally, actually thrives off of that shit. All of them do.

The more he is worshipped and exulted, the more of the hell scape that is the realms he( or one of the others) can turn into liveable land.

If you want to set up a homestead In realm of shadows, you literally have to set up a shrine first so Sigmar can de-taint it, then Another so that Alarielle can turn the mist into land, then another etc etc.

Dick waving is literally a life or death occupation.

'Elthin Arvan', Eltharin for 'the Fated Place', is sometimes floated as an alternative with some actual grounding in canon, but that's clunky and its usage in canon seems confused as to whether it means the whole world or just the continent of the Old World.

I'm making my way throuhg Age of Sigmar. I went through the 2015 Stormcast Eternal Book, then the 2016 Stormcast Extremis book, and now I'm on the 2017 Stormcast Eternals book and I'll go to the 2018 and then 2021 books afterwards. I want to form my own opinion on the Stormcast Eternals, so I'm starting with them. I'm actually enjoying seeing the evolution and progresson of the Lore, the style, and the additional stuff they add to every book. I am pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable the whole "New Chamber Unlocks with every new book" thing is. Surpringly great idea and a good way to build up the roster of a completely new army to match all the legacy stuff from Fantasy.

I'm also not sure if I'm just imagining things, but I feel like the Age of Sigmar reading list is bigger than the Warhammer Fantasy one. This seems daunting.

It is, age of Sigmar is taking full advantage of digital print and print when buy, over print for store sell.

So getting back to the vote, I find it a bit odd that of all the elves have to call Vicereine Cadaeth is the one people decided to go with for second place almost tied for first. Now I have nothing against just choosing her because you think she is fun and you would like to see Mathilde interact with the sexy forest, but as concerns the practical side of things I question how useful she would be as we do not know what she even is. A little bit of fey and a dash of elf one might say from her form, but that could mean a several tings. Is she a fey with an interest in elf culture who took advantage of her inherently magical nature to appear more elf life, is she an elf who through long in the company of the fey in the deep places of the forest grew more like them? Is she perhaps some symbiosis of the two by means Mathilde's magical understanding does not yet encompass?

Whatever the case I think it is safe to say that her connection to the fey is intimate, but intimate does not necessarily mean good relations. Just as there are schisms and politics in the cult of Taal and the Al Ulric does not necessarily like Norlander Ulricans nor they him, fey and fey may not necessarily see eye to eye, especially when the person who are choosing has undergone some pretty significant transformations one way or the other, transformations that would not be mirrored in the Forest of Shadows or the Griffon Wood where there are no elves and have not been for many centuries.

Ah yeah, I didn't vote for Cadaeth:

[X] The Ostermark Hedgewise
[X] Tsarevich Boris Bokha
[X] Lady Kaia 'Stormwitch' Fanmaris
[X] Vicereine Cadaeth

Kaia isn't winning, and I am not immune to sexy women.

I'll be pretty sad if Cadaeth wins. Wanting to interact with characters you like is fine and all, but Cadaeth is a member of the Waystone project; we're going to interact with her plenty of times in the future. Any other choice - literally any other choice - will let us spend some time with someone we're likely not going to see much in the future, or at all. And watching the Ostermark Hedgewise lose at the last moment will also be pretty heartbreaking, for obvious personal reasons.

I also want Kaia, but she's at 12 votes and Cadaeth is at 44. I want to get the Eonir involved and I think Cadaeth almost certainly has insights into this area that we don't. The very purpose of Approval Voting is to get in all the choices you want, so that's what I'm doing. That I like Cadaeth helps, but it's reductive to say that's the only reason I'm doing it.

I wasn't calling you out personally or anything, liking Cadaeth is a reason a lot of people have given when voting. I also think @DragonParadox makes a good point about her being intimately connected to a forest, which may not transfer well to this forest. This is just frustrating to me because the voting options are filled with interesting characters we may never see again, and we're going for the one we'll quite possibly see every single turn from now on.
Maybe I should save my dissapointment for after the vote, since right now the Hedgewise still enjoy a narrow lead.

That's still more than Mathilde has and most likely more than the grand majority of people have. The Hedgewise almost certainly know a lot about this forest and they have a connection to the Hag Witches who are also likely to be useful and I have been advocating for them since the last vote. That's why I'm voting for them too. But I also realise that working with Cadaeth is almost certain to have less hassle involved since working with her doesn't violate the articles in any manner that a sane person would try to use. I'm pretty confident we can work with the Hedgefolk without getting caught, but that doesn't mean I think there is no risk or downside to choosing them.
