[X] If Su Ling truly desired to rid herself of her mother's traits, so be it. She hoped Su Ling would be careful and seek advice and help if she was going to undertake such a project though.
Wow this is a heavy one. Kinda hate the idea of trying to give advice here. Generally uncomfortable with unnecessary surgery but what's unnecessary is pretty subjective. Cultivation seems somewhat to be the defining of self so being true to said self early on is important. She's worked to define that in the past but if it's not enough I'd rather support her seeking advice than dismiss the issue.

[X] Su Ling was doing well already, she had already turned her blood to her own purposes. Why waste something you had already stolen? Wasn't it a better revenge to use your enemy's tools against them?

Like Qingling said, if there is anything cultivation is good for its getting rid of accidents of birth.

I'd feel a lot better about this if anyone offered, you know, a way to address her trauma around this instead of just handwaving it away as 'something she needs to separate from her tails and deal with separately'. As it is, this feels like she is being pushed into a heart demon, where she tries to do the 'right thing' and ends up doing things she doesn't want.

I have a few thoughts pushing me towards the other option, but for the most part, kungfu magic or not, you can't change what you already are. You can only modulate it. Even the transmen of FoD have shown that past very visibly, from the descriptions of them we've had. A modulation in the direction of amputation...Su Ling can't remove her connection to her mother. Even if she removed the physical and spiritual traces, she would remain a person whose choices had been defined by that past and by that connection.

I say this while wanting SRS. We can't always get what we want.

Can't tell someone not to be a foxgirl.

Cultivation is already about cutting away parts of yourself as you choose your own way. How is this any different?

"My apologies again," Ling Qi said obsequiously. She even meant it, after all, it was rude of her to conflate the spiders above with these, so crudely intending to betray hospitality.
"Have the traitors been driven from the great Heavenly Pillar?"

Ling Qi smile was bright indeed as she nodded. She had heard enough, both from her liege and the history books and people to qualify the last generation of the Hui as such. "Though it seems the fight is ongoing.
Still reading through but I just wanna say I love these scenes. Fae lying is one of my favorite things and it's so well done here. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this 😃

A slight advantage for Xio Fen, Ling Qi mused.

She saw too the shadow slipping away from him stepping shadow and vanishing.
Maybe, read weird to me
"She asked which branch of family arts she should pursue. I intend for her to remain at my side," Bai Meizhen said. "Appropriate that she took a bodyguards art."
"A blunt name for an art. Aren't they usually a bit more poetic?" Ling Qi wondered.
I think space between the lines?

Attempting to carve power out of yourself always felt like a mistake to me.

I really don't like this vote. Both options are definitely not perfect and I really hate to think that either of these options are going to have a significant effect on Su Ling's path going forward. With that being said, I would much rather Su Ling feel like she can lean on us for support than have her feel like we are going to let our own thoughts about power & cultivation cloud our perspective on her doing what she wants with her body.
