Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Did I miss something? What's with the Luo hate?
First was the party he invited us too. It wasn't really a big deal, but the whole testing thing left a sour taste in many peoples mouths about him. Next is the fact that he is pursuing the Bao that Meizhen has hooked up with. With how aggressive he seemed to be pursuing her it left an even greater sour taste. And now there's this stunt, injecting himself into a group that was going to have fun just because of politics.

[X] Be polite, but no more, as he had let her feel her own way along, he could do the same, if Luo Zhong has a concern, he is free to bring it up.

This guy doesn't really seem necessary? That's probably a bad way of putting it, but it doesn't seem to matter much to us whether he does well or poorly here. I don't hate him, but I don't like him anywhere near enough to try to specifically help him, even as a flex.

I don't know what is up ... I just want to keep things simple

[X] You can afford to be more gracious, as a minor power move if nothing else, and you are curious what he is up to.

I don't want to petty at him. Yeah, he is been annoying, but its all been minor stuff, and mostly because of a failure of empathy on his part, nothng more. He thinks everyone in his peer group thinks and acts like him.

I am ok with being petty (here, in this specific context) if we have a good reason, but not for pettyness' sake itself.

we didn't like that he decided to play games with us.
We didn't like how he was "hounding" Bao Qingling, and his "doggedness" left a worse impression than the mild dislike we had.
As an alternative to joining his group and learning from him after he intentionally styled on us in the first outing, we decided to cultivate a new group with Wang. We supported the endeavor, and at this point have Ducal Scions of Xuan and Bai in attendance on top of ourselves.

At this point, the Wang Group is a group full of those like Wang who enjoy the sparring ground and additional training. These aren't hunts, or traditional noble pastimes, they're collaboration and camaraderie between allies-in-arms against the threats to the realms of man.

Wang Chao isn't totally politically ignorant, nor totally politically incompetent. Wang Chao just, really truly believes that it doesn't make sense to play politics when they're all on the same side.
Which is why, despite the increasing level of prestige at the event, those that joined of lower talent or slower talent haven't been hounded out in favor of new faces.
The Goal is for everyone to improve. If everyone was doing the equivalent of a military parade instead of actually recovering, bonding or training what would the point be? Ego flexing? Control and Dominance games?
pfft

We don't, ultimately, know why Luo is here. Our gripes with him are minor and personal, and if he's looking to turn a new leaf or even just observe how we run things, he's welcome to.

If he wants to join, and undermine it? Peel off those that may feel "unworthy" to be in the group, separate them from our "herd" and drag them down? Well. That runs explicitly counter to how we run things.

People are welcome to come and cooperate and train and bond with one another for the betterment of all. Even the smallest sparrows may contribute to the defense of a province in mighty ways. Especially when they've made friends with the wind.

Is this how the Weilu did it you think? Suits the herds of great stag hmm? Protect even the smallest and weakest and you'll eventually become the mightiest herd in the forest?

I'm inclined to have Ling Qi take charge here, establish her social dominance, and ensure increasing awkwardness doesn't cause our other friends to become uncomfortable to the point where our little gathering falls apart. If he insists on being a dick in the face of our graciousness we can still give him a social thumping, but perhaps we can turn this encounter to our advantage as he will owe us a minor social debt for smoothing this out for him and that could potentially be parleyed into inroads with the Luo, which is of value to us.

Kill with kindness! Throw him rope and see if he hangs himself on it.

Luo Zhong knew what he was getting into, barging into a casual meeting for the sake of politics, so I'm disinclined to appease him. Might be dumb to let emotions reign but karma's a bitch.

Edit- Persuaded to change my mind.

We've spent all day playing politics and making compromises. This harasser isn't worth the effort
