Grand Army of the Republic: A Star Wars Plan Quest

[] Mental Enhancements (Phase I)
Look into improving the mental capabilities of the clones that you will be producing. Primary focuses will be intelligence, will power, and quick thinking.
(0/300, 20 Resources per Die)
...Thinking about it. There is one potential downside for this option for the sith. Namely if clones are smart and observant enough to notice all of the strangeness of the war and conclude that someone wants to maintain the war...
That could lead to palps facing far more suspicion than he intended. Though that may require multiple phases of the mental enhancements.

The war wasn't that strange unless you started actively looking into it. Separatists and megacorps wanted to be free of Republic regulations so they build up a secret droid army to threaten the Republic into giving into their demands. Except thanks to the foresight of a Jedi, who was known for his visions and extremeness (and is conveniently dead), and the generous funding by Hego Damask (who is also conveniently dead), the Republic had a secret clone army to fight back with. Appointing the Jedi to command because who else could the Republic trust to defend it and the Jedi Order certainly wouldn't refuse to protect the Republic.

The Separatists had an initial surprise advantage that was diminished by the clones and they failed to properly apply for a variety of plausible reasons. So while the CIS is winning for the first year of the war, the Republic's greater industrial and economic might comes into play and the tables turn as the Separatist lose their initial surprise advantage and it becomes a war of attrition that the larger Republic will win. The Chancellor amassing power to himself is unfortunate, but the war does need to be won and that requires decisive action by one man rather than a corrupt Senate politicking about instead of getting anything done.

Now that are cracks once you start actively poking the story, but at a casual look, the war went in an entirely plausible manner.

Canon GAR
For those wondering, the canon Grand Army of the Republic would be something like this. Cold Hard Credits as the primary motive with Jango only doing armour locally on Kamino while everything was outsourced, primarily to Sith approved companies such as Kuat and Rothana. He did the first level or two of mental, reflex and endurance genetic enhancements before spamming a lot of clones. He hired a mixture of Mandalorian and bounty hunter trainers while building up locations for classes and training. He had four different training programmes, one for regular Clone Troopers, one for ARC Troopers, one for Clone Commandos and one for Clone Commanders with the recruits for the latter three being picked from the most promising individuals in the first one.

Now, it isn't possible for this quest to precisely replicate the canon Clone Army, but the above should give you some insight into how canon went so you can compare it to what you are doing.

With the Grand Army of the Republic, the sky is the limit, but pretty much everything else is beyond your control.

And yes, you can create better armour than what the clones had to use in canon. It will just be more expensive.
Ngl, I'm rubbing my hands together in glee at the potential stuff we can do given what you've said. The CIS are so fucked

I'm also super glad the thread went with Kriff the Sith. Honestly this quest has a lot of potential, i haven't been his excited for a Star Wars quest since that clone commander one on SpaceBattles. Here's hoping this one doesn't die like that one did though.

We should probably hold off on making clones while we get some enhancements out then huh. Or at least only make a small amount.
Sort of. To a degree, enhancements can be given to a clone while they are still young and growing provided it is not too extreme. And if you really need to modified a grownup clone, you can use a retrovirus and thanks to the Kaminoan expertise and facilities, you can even do it relatively safely.

I'm guessing there might be some sort of enhancement catch up/roll out option for preexisting clones or something like that?

Yes through if they are still young enough and few enough, it might just be automatically applied. For example, completing Mental Enhancements this turn would see any effects automatically applied to any clones you create this turn because at less then six months of biological age, is is pretty easy for the Kaminoans to modify them.

How many levels of enhancements are there? If we wanted to, could we do like four or five instead of the canon two? If so, What would the results of max level enhancements be?

@Random Member with the info about how enhancements are rolled out and on the canon plan do you want to cut back on clone spending this turn or should I throw out a plan for it? Don't want to go splitting the voting if we're just going for the same thing.

Nah, I feel shitty about editing my plans if a bunch of people have already voted for it.

Also not fully board with the idea in the first place.

Nothing major, just less clone rollout to account for how enhancements work and saving a small amount of resources for next turn. Don't plan to invest too heavily into clone production until we have at least 2 phases of each enhancement, I think.

Going over the Grand Army, we've many clones with different occupation from simple clone troopers to commandos. Will we be able to create others roles aside from that ? I don't want a group of bumbling Jedi who only known how to use a lightsaber all their life whom strategies are charging headfirst into battles:rage:.
Yeah, except that's not at all how the Jedi canonically lead the Clones. Most Jedi were either competent Commanders in their own right or actively worked with their Clone Captains and Commanders to succeed.

Yes, there were Bastards like Pong Krell or reckless fools among the Jedi, but those were the exception, not the Rule.
