There are reporters now...but how long until paparazzi make an appearance?

And what will we do to the first ones who attempt to get illicit nudes of Lya?

Keep in mind the mores of this society are not going to magically change overnight just because papers exist. Trying to get nudes of the Imperatrix in a absolute monarchy is likely to be right up there with petty treason and earn you a few decades in prison.

My faith in Planetosi Human nature is minimal. I give it two more years, at most, before the first attempt.

Haha, isn't that thing on some sort of children's TV show in Scotland or something?

He's from Noel's House Party where he was originally part of a candid camera segment where he was the mascot for a fake children's show celebrities were fooled into auditioning for and then became a sort of mascot for Noel's House Party along with turning up in other shows, I got reminded that he was discussed by the thread by some recent reactions to older posts and thought I would make reference to a certain joke I made.
Viserys: "I see Mammon's birthday is coming up... hmmmm idea, Qyburn fire up the flesh forges I've had an idea."

And thus we found out that yes it is still possible to traumatise our flesh smiths.

  • [X] Explain that we expect to eventually have manufactories throughout the Imperium. Currently, however, we are limited by a lack of trained personnel, resources, time, and most importantly, the need to properly secure such critical assets from enemy action.
[X] Explain that you preferred Gogossos and Westheaven for the greater security and access to trained manpower for the first steps of the rebuild
-[X] In the future you will likely keep the industry less concentrated than you did in Everyfire Dale, so military bases like Harrenhall and the Eyrie are very likely to recieve similar manufactures and hangars within the next year.

As a note if any of them did try to plot rebellion they would not announce it to the world. That said most of them ar not under any sort of wards and the House of Mirrors finds no signs of rebellion in their near future,

Oh yeah, I was saying any potential traitors in Westeros keeping quiet about it instead of immediately raising the banners to CHARGE FORTH pleasantly surprised me :V. I suppose we did prune most of those types during the reconquestWestern Province pacification

Part MMMDCCCXLIX: The Last Barb
The Last Barb

Fourth Day of the Tenth Month 294 AC

"In an better world manufactures such as these would be present across the Imperium already," you reply with a small nod to show you do not mind the question, much to the visible relief of the young interviewer. "In a world in which we would not have to act in haste or look fist to where such engines of industry could be secured from enemy action plans would perhaps even now be drawn up to acquire land in King's Landing, in Oldtown or perhaps even in Gulltown." you pause for breath but only briefly. "This is not that world, here we are pressed from behind by the swords of our foes and we must look first to our shields, to security in other words, then to the presence of a skilled workforce and readily available raw materials. Rest assured that such will not always be the case and that there shall be manufactures in on the western shores of the Narrow Sea, and on the shores of the Sunset Sea and in all the places between them.all the realm shall benefit from the prosperity of this new age of that you have my vow. "

Stiluses scratched furiously on slate, or in the case of the more fortunate writers slid on fine paper. There was going to be a lack even of that on the market seen as the shocks rippled outward from the destruction of Evenfire Dale. It probably behooves you to speak to the Minister of information sooner rather than later to make sure those supply chains are not too badly shaken. People may not have had papers for long in most places but they would note their lack and count it ill tidings just the same

It is not however Minister Valens who steps into your office next that evening, but Dany and it takes only a glance at her expression to see something is wrong, something beyond the memory of last week's tragedy. The last time you saw that expression on he her face was before that fateful day on the road to Mantarys, gnawing at a problem with no clear solution.

Before you can open your mouth to ask she explains. "Toho Mott's soul is in Nessus and no he was not supossed to end up there by the weighting of his soul. Something or someone intercepted him. I was able to get that much from Zathir to whom he gave praise these last few years as a god of craft."

"Someone trapped his soul during the attack and sold him to Baator?" you ask, shock and dismay catching up to the realization. You had not known the Qohorick smith well but Gendry would be devastated to learn it.

"Probably," Dany sighed.

"I do not suppose we are lucky enough for his soul to have ended up in the keeping of some minor devil?" you ask without much hope. Mott had been skilled in working both Dragon Steel and your own Imperial Steel, a skilled and shrewd ritualist before magic had even returned to the world.

"My sight fades into a fog of uncertainty," your sister explains. "His soul is almost assuredly being kept prisoner by the Lord of the Ninth."

"Fuck," you curse and slide back into your seat. "You did not tell Gendry any if this did you?"

She gives you a faintly exasperated look. "What that his father figure is a prisoner in the depths of Hell?" Her expression softens back into the frustration she had shown. "No, that good would it do he has been through enough without swearing himself to returning him or some such madness."

For a long moment there is silence, then she admits. "We probably would not think it is madness would we, if it were one of our friends, one of our Companions we would plumb hell itself in the hopes of returning them? But we were luky as much as we were skilled and clever, it would break poor Gendry or at the very least warp him to bear that weight right now."

For all the words are bitter in the hearing as they are in the saying you cannot disagree with her, nor can you contemplate setting off on such a journey yourself. You recall well the fears that plagued you when you came near to death in seeking the wardstones, for your legacy and your responsibilities to the realm and that was a wager for far grander stakes than the soul of one Qohorick smith, no matter that he had been a good man and kind to a bastard boy

Do you tell Gendry about what happened to his master's soul?

[] Yes
-[] Right now, you do not wish to keep the secret
-[] Wait until he is on his feet and more balanced mentally

[] No, it would serve nothing for him to know and only bring him pain

[] Write in

OOC: I know I backloaded that segment a lot, but that is because I am going to do something that is very rare in this quest, maybe even unprecedented. I am going to say that going harring off after Mott's soul into the depths of Hell is not in character for Viserys, given his responsibilities to his realm, to his friends and to his family. I have played enough quests to know that is going to be really tempting from the other side of the screen, but in this case it just does not work with who the character is and who Mott is to him at best a friendly acquiescence. Here's an edited version of the chapter, DP.

Now I do kinda wish we had a less adversarial relationship with the Adversary.
Might have bought the soul back.

But as it is, not much to be done. Not even sure why Old Red did that.
Not like Tobo is important enough to us to drive us to questionable actions, as DP just explained.

My best guess is that he can see somewhere along the strings of fate that Gendry will become important, even if that may be many years in the future. So he's keeping that in his backhand against someone who is far from being a player in any relevant game yet.

[X] No, it would serve nothing for him to know and only bring him pain

He won't be the 1st nor the last innocent soul who is damned.
