Sure. I have to admit I was kind of concerned at how you guys would take this, but so far the reaction has been I hope mostly positive

If there is anything that need clarification do not hesitate to ask but otherwise... onward and upward.
I personally don't mind it. Our enemy found a weakspot and exploited it, that's just sense and competence.

If we didn't want a fight we wouldn't have put on a crown.

[X] Plan: "Moving On"
-[X] Have all of the forces moved in emergency return to Qohor to ensure the capture of the city (more importantly - the Fleshforge, less importantly - the people.
-[X] Convene with the closest advisors, prepare to converge the people of the Imperium around this loss, in a manner similar to the day Sorceree's Deep faced the Wildfire.
-[X] (I.e. have someone in the thread write up the speech, but after hearing what options and opinions we have IC).

There. To move on in an efficient manner.

Well, we live and we learn. Though the Brazen Throne will feel the fist of our vengeance when we do to their economy what the doom did for the Valyrian Empire.

DP wants some kind of direct reaction to the plague in Westhaven, and Goldfish's plan accounts for that, Qohor's situation, and dealing with the fallout from this.

1. How do the Shaitan and the Djinn normally allocate and protect their wards?
2. How many can be loaned to us on emergency notice until we've got production centers up and running again?
3. Getting progress numbers on a fortress guarding the production centers in Everfire Dale since they're the most important would be apreciated.
4. Can we potentially buy these wards from the Marid?
5. What was the progress for reverse engineering these wards again? And once that's done, how many can we spam per turn?

Will answer in the morning since it is pretty complex

Only the promise of Ser Richard/Mereth content shall stay my hand!

I solemnly swear to deliver the ship oh captain (eventually) :)

Maybe I should have read the new system in more detail... Ah well, mistakes happen. At least this mistake is less embarrassingly stupid than our handling of the Conclave 😓

I feel like a bit of an asshole for writing this, but...

Can we really afford not taking the route of "make Warforged, make them work as crafters for one-two turns, give them money at the end and have them be as anyone else"?

This is a strategic emergency, and, while the Imperium doesn't have it, it wouldn't be too different to the concept of a mandatory military draft of IRL.

Sure, Anu won't like it much...
But we aren't making slaves from them, paying them more than fairly, and giving dividends is certainly a given.
The work isn't backbreaking, and after this event, they'd arguably be under better protection than most citizens.

We can spam produce them and offer massive economic incentives for them to put up with it for a few months, while still offering the option of walking off for other less lucrative options. Anu won't be annoyed at that.

One last note tonight, even if you did this you would still be limited by forge capacity, it would help the recovery, but again no silver bullets because among other things a lot of what you lost was infrastructure.

No, because--and pay attention here---people are specifically looking for loopholes, flaws and precedents in our system. If we try to work in our own workaround, people will be emboldened to try on their own to exploit people for their own benefits.

We are working on integrating and instituting law by force of arms on two continents, two continents with a ruling class who exploited the people they ruled over every day. The only reason we get them all to go along with us is a combination of bribery to one degree or another (how blatant that is depending), idealism to one degree or another from some people who actually support our new model either because it helps people, or because of enlightened self interest and seeing the potential of the new system, or because we threatened to murder them if they didn't agree.

The lords and magisters do not want our system in aggregate. They might agree with parts of it, but everyone can agree Viserys shouldn't have the power he does, nor have changed things so much that one common law restricts and binds their hands with regards to how they could exploit other people to their own benefit.

They just can't actually do anything about it.

If you undermine that position, even once, they will jump on it, and use it as political leverage against us.

Now that we're almost done with qohor are we going to do the ritual involving brass coins and the merling king? Seems like a good time to do it given what just happened.

Iirc there is still Slavers' Bay to wrangle before that, ideally.

I've not been up to date much, but iirc it was used to be planned to be used just as the allied forces start converging on the City of Brass - to fuck the Efreeti up in all the ways at once.

That could be quite a while from now, unless there have been multiple substantial breakthroughs since we last spoke with them. We should clean up Slaver's Bay, or at least take it out of the equation, but I think that we should fire it off pretty soon.

We are nowhere close to that. This was a mere raiding party and they managed to wipe out our entire industrial sector. If we do the ritual now, and thank god they haven't found out about that yet, we would be crushed.

We need to rebuild our industry and keep building up our military, and ideally protect everything we can with warding stones.

... Also, Mythic project for Lya when she has more ranks under her belt, figuring out that Horseman statue that the Efreeti use to direct all planar travelers to a single point in Molten Skies. That'd be a magnum opus on par with Brandon's Wall, but damn if that wouldn't be secure.

I don't know about that. We were just shown that we haven't given enough thought to our defenses in the new system, and we haven't even begun on designing the defenses to address that issue.

Pissing the efreeti off that badly is an even worse idea than it normal would be right now.

Another thing, I want to figure out how to hunt down that archmage in particular before we do the Living Brass ritual. If there's one thing I hate more than anything else it's recurring villains.
