I am once again asking for your financial support shilling for taking the Head Librarian position.

On a narrative level, I think that Mathilde being directly invested running and guiding in the crowning achievement of her career so far has a tremendous amount of weight behind it - and moreover, I think that building up an institution like this has a lot of interesting story potential.

We're going to be hearing about grandiose construction and enchantment efforts, involved with negotiations with polities all over the Old World and beyond to set up exchanges of knowledge, and later on likely fund all sorts of expeditions to seek and acquire rare books and tomes from around the world. All of those are things I'd love to read about.

Moreover, these efforts could naturally tie into the ongoing plot, rather than being disconnected from it - the tension with Marienburg ties neatly into the establishment of a Library to rival theirs; negotiating with the Verenans will be a perfect fit into the sub-plot regarding Ranald and the nature of divinity; convincing the Light College to share their collected knowledge segues into our efforts to create closer ties between the Colleges; seeking manuscripts from Araby, Britonnia, and Kislev will naturally connect with our efforts to bring those polities on-board with the Waystone project. And of course, first and foremost, our interactions with the Library of Mournings will likely be quite different if we are the representative of a Library ourselves.

If any of that sounds like it interests you to read, please consider voting for the Head Librarian position, thank you.

wouldn't a fair amount of what your talking about we still see under high level policy like grandiose construction and enchantment effort, some negotiations, expeditions since all of those I think are high level policy?

No. High level policy is something we fire-and-forget for years at a time - it wouldn't include anything like being involved in those things, since it involves 0 AP being spent.

I honestly think that this is overselling the Head Librarian position by a lot. It will hardly be the crowning achievement of her career, on account of translating Queekish and pulling Vlag out of Warp being far, far more impressive from virtually every standpoint.

I also don't think that it will be anywhere near as exciting as what you are describing, considering its EIC-lite business. I flat out don't think there will be all that much Indiana Jonesing going around, and i don't really think that haranguing with people over what we can and cannot buy and what is and is not secret, or stamping approval stamps on requests for expedition funding will be fun. Especially when its, once again, EIC-lite. Its an administrative position, not a hat and a whip and invitation to raid a tomb.

The cost of which will be half an action, which is now impossible to really evaluate due to impending action rework, but which will take from pool where options like "Take part in Sylvanian campaign" or "Involve yourself In Black Water" or "Involve yourself in Marieburg" were (which are mostly no longer relevant, i just picked selection from turn 31, but i fully expect opportunities like this will continue cropping up), which is not even talking about self-improvement actions or actions necessary to spend on our job, the importance of which means we will toil on it a lot.

Just want to say that posts like this one are what confused me and started me down the path of making nonsensical arguments about how large of a narrative investment the head librarian choice would be. Turns out I was wrong. Which means that the above isn't quite right either.

I knew the library was inevitable but I have negative interest in it. I'd vote hands-off if it had any chance at winning.
