The crazies are for when you have a crazy situation.

We're picking people for the 99% of the other times where the situation is boring. So it's mostly just boring people. Though even then, some of the selections are kinda badass.

Like the Angel who saw the Heavenly Hosts get their shit pushed in, so decided to go learn from the shit pushers directly how not to get shit pushed in.

Or the Maester who is basically "I fucking called it!" guy in advance of us using magic to steamroll an entire continent, after having conquered multiple cities and fought major supernatural forces off.

Or even the guy who has all sorts of contacts with underwater mercenaries who's enemies are mainly brain-eating horrors who ride krakens.

There are still some boring choices we have to throw into the ring regardless.

What in God's Name is a Yuri's Night?

Sounds like a Lesbian JRPG not gonna lie.

EDIT: Just did my research, it's to commemorate the date when Yuri Gagarin first went to space.

I'm sad that it's actually not about a lesbian JRPG.

Her foreign entanglements are definitely a problem and she already ditched one army due to her ambitious nature, so she might walk right back to the Shaitan with a head full of military secrets if the Sultana makes a good enough offer. Bad. At least they are allied with us, but still bad.

Clear No from me.
I don't think that's too bad, given the timescales the Shaitan can be working on.

If she goes home after exemplary service, it will have to be decades at least.
That's a lot of time to either gain her permanent loyalty, or sell our military secrets to (by then very long-term) allies before she has any chance to profit from returning with them.

Ultimatly since her possible retirement is unlikely to be within the boundaries of this quest, I can't care about it.

On the other hand she brings practical experience in high-magic warfare with her, the only person who has worked on that scale before (with the second-best options being wither the Archon as a pure theorist or the Khal and the former Legion-officers who have dealt with the first steps of magical warfare under our or Zherys' command).
I think having her share what she knows from the Shaitan armies is worth it for her eventually sharing what she learned in ours, back to them.

Boo to boring generals.

The big problem to me is that we can't really guess at how thing will look in the long term, so the risk of taking her might be nigh zero or extreme, with no way to tell the difference.

The other issue is that she might be a vector for the Shaitan to try and sway our government in indirect fashion, or she might be hounded by unfounded accussations of that happening. She's pretty much a scandal machine like Hazak, but unlike him, there is no way to ever fix this since her controversial trait are her blood tiest to Shaitan nobility.

So I have a questions.

What's people's opinion on giving the shitan the moon chaser designs. I think with their economy and industry they could spam them and we have already proven their superiority to ifriti vessels. That should seriously tip the scales of war in our favor.

Hell no. We are not trading away our entire tech advantage. It's literally the one thing we got that nobody else has and that allows us to bridge the gap in military capacity.

I can kinda see that, but on the other hand, it's not exactly a big avenue for the Shaitan to influence us.

They have a lot of bigger guns, simply by being a gigantic planar empire with wealth and power beyond all our current efforts.

Let's be honest, if they weren't so damn busy with the Efreeti they propably would have started with the jolly colonialism on our plane, rather than making treaties with us as a serious junior-partner in an alliance.

Pretty much. Which is why I want to keep doing the Japan until we are too big to colonize and can successfully claim the entire PoB as our SoI.

(That means, doing aggressive imperialism on our own.)

@Goldfish
Could we afford to add the Crown of the Northwind's breath-changing effect to Amrelath gear?
The Brass Dragon's sleep effect is pretty much a fight-ending move for anyone vulnerable to it, and unlike most sleep spells it has no HD-limit to affect.
Unlike Viserys I think Amy is a bit lacking in the non-lethal options.

Crown of the North Wind
A crown of the north wind is the traditional headgear of a humanoid servitor of Bahamut. In the past year (1373 DR), individual dragonborn have begun to receive visions leading them to the lair of a chromatic dragon whose hoard contains one of these ancient relics.
A crown of the north wind is an elegant platinum crown with five spires, each one shaped like a different metallic dragon (brass, copper, bronze, gold, and silver).
A crown of the north wind provides a +2 enhancement bonus to Charisma and radiates a continuous cloak of bravery effect when worn. (The latter effect can be consciously dismissed or resumed as a standard action.) If the crown-wearer has an energy breath weapon (acid, cold, fire, or lightning), the crown allows the wearer to substitute the secondary breath weapon of a metallic dragon, as follows:

Cone or Line of:Becomes a Cone of:
AcidSlow gas (as copper)
ColdParalyzing as (as silver)
FireSleep (as brass) or weakening (as gold)
LightningRepulsion gas (as bronze)
For effects that depend on the age category of the breather, use the wearer's age category (if he or she has one) or assume an age category of young, whichever is more favorable to the wearer. If a creature can choose among energy types for his breath weapon, then he can also choose among substitution effects.
Moderate enchantment and transmutation (good) CL 8th; Craft Wondrous Item, calm emotions, eagle's splendor; Price: 70,000 gp; Cost 31,000 gp + 2,800 XP.

While I think Ryos is a good investment, I really think we should pick Benedict over him for the sake of political balance. He is an all around good candidate and since we are very unlikely to get many of those from Westeros, I'd rather pick him than to risk having to take a total turd like Waynwood later down the road to keep the nobility happy.

@DragonParadox what level is Ryos Lodaris ? ,cause this is a guy who despite living in a era were magic was dead and gone managed to end up in the elemental plain of water were he spent 9 years adventuring as a mercenary this has to be the kind of luck a touched by destiny PC character would have in fact the whole premises is basically a GM deciding to move the PC to a new area cause he now massively out leveled his old one

Really hoping the muggle who somehow survived nine years in the PoW makes it. That's so weird and cool! Also obligatory obviously favoring Bravos Points. I thought that the "Dorne favoritism" was actually a bonus over a malus since I personally want to obviously show favor to our favorites and show how cool being a favorite can be? Now we need a obvious Volantene dick stroking candidate to really drive the point home.

Hopefully getting the Bravossi and our own backing will help alleviate the stain on Hazhak. Nietzsche as a fallen lantern archon gets my vote.

The next update will be a bit of a breather interlude with some companion banter and a feel for the budding court. It has been written, but since the vote is actually rather tight I'll wait to post it a bit longer.

Eh. Doesn't look like there will be much change anyway. Thread activity is way down.

Then again, a non-voting update might get a few more people to vote.

I desperately hope there's someone foolish enough to give a character at Court I actually like some egregious insult that can't be taken as anything other than an implication they aren't good enough for being around Viserys.

Because I have this entire fucking spiel worked out in my head already pointing out a few of that person's accomplishments, and how if that's not enough to firmly establish their worth in our eyes, surely, surely that person has some great deeds under their belt. Well? Surely you have aided Viserys in some grand fashion? Surely you know what you are talking about when you denigrate the honor/valor/intelligence/charm/cunning/skill of such and such, surely you have been proclaiming your loyalty boldly even years before we even left Braavos?

What? Speak up, please. Tell the Court of your deeds, your reputation and your loyalty, please. I am waiting.

What? Nothing to say? Oh this simply will not do. Please, take this writ. It is one, from the Crown, to obtain the equipment you need. Equipment for what? Oh, the grand quest you have just volunteered for. Go out, at once, into the world, and return with great deeds. Back home? What? That simply won't do. I mean, after all, you were there all these years and nothing suitable came to your attention. Surely you won't have any need to dally around there. Go on then, I know you will impress me and show up the likes of Richard Lonmouth or Waymar Royce, I know you will outwit the likes of Garin Drekelis and Tyene Sandviper. Your magical might is more awe-inspiring than Lya the Sage or Daenerys Stormborn.

*using a Mage's Edict (Declaration)*: "Let it be known that [Insert Name Here] has embarked upon a grand undertaking in the name of Imperator, Viserys Targaryen, and shall not return until they have brought great benefit to the realm, to take their rightful place at his side."

I await you eagerly. Fare thee well!
