[X] The future changes with every step, never be certain you know what is coming

The Uncertainty principle is one we know from our mentors too, and I don't think we'd much enjoy having something we established as a virtue and yet unable to pursue it because of obligations.

[X] The future changes with every step, never be certain you know what is coming

Like, isn't this literally one of the arc words of Year Two?

"Who the fuck knows what's coming ahead, it's nice to have ambitions but always be ready to pivot to exploit new opportunities or to mitigate incoming problems."

We started this in school expecting to be climbing a ladder, a literal fucking three way war started halfway through, and by the end we're taking up a position as a major diplomat in an burgeoning bilateral summit.

[X] To journey and seek knowledge is virtue unto itself

I understand the concerns about rootlessness, but that ship has already sailed with our "there is no content in stillness" insight. LQ cannot ever be happy with what she has, so it makes sense to define change as broadly as possible so that she still has the opportunity for happiness down the line. Having it so that learning is a source of change helps let her enjoy the quiet moments like figuring out how to work with Zhengui going forward.

If it were up to me, I'd pick both as they are both very valuable lessons to learn. However I feel this one is the more healthy one for LQ and her potential clan going forwards.

Changing my vote because Nox made a persuasive argument in the Discord

I mean, I just want to see that spark of wonder in LQ. That she actively seek to know something, not because she needs it or because she was told to, but simply because she wanted to know. That's what I associate with the Seeker on Songseeker.

"I will begin making some arrangements then. You will not be without oversight. I will assign my third apprentice to oversee you and assemble a pool of advisors for you to recruit from. I will speak with the Sect as well," Cai Shenhua said thoughtfully, tapping her painted fingernail against her chin. "Your successes are to remain at this level of quality, naturally."
"Mother's apprentices are all somewhat eccentric," Cai Renxiang agreed, peering down at the sprawling, blazingly bright pagoda complex.

I cannot wait to meet the next giant weirdo apprentice Shenhua is assigning to us

It's actually the fact that we have "no content in stillness" that makes me leery about this option, actually. It's like details in worldbuilding or specificity in a lie: the more you hammer down precisely, the more precisely you have to adhere to it. In isolation, the previous SCS Insight can simply mean "continue changing," but the more Insights you get related to how you should "act, change, move, think, and grow," the more restricted you become. Is journeying good? Yeah, sure. But I'd rather not have it be a dictated requirement, and its interaction with the SCS Insight creates that risk.

"no content in stillness" is already a pretty dangerous Insight, if a useful one. I'd rather keep its restrictions lightweight.

Hmmm. I guess both still fit our domain.

The future changes with every step, never be certain you know what is coming
  1. There is no peace in emptiness, no content in stillness. Stagnation is death; act, change, move, think, and grow until the very end.
  2. Branches and trunks bend and sway, but the roots must remain unyielding. Retreat only so far and then no more.
seems like it would fit neatly into these two parts of our domain. Something like accepting/taking advantage of Chaos but without forgetting our foundations and "final line".

while this
To journey and seek knowledge is virtue unto itself
Though a path might be hard and lonely, it has worth if you can present something of beauty to those you care for at the end.
Even walking alone, footfalls echo beyond your hearing.
could connect with these. Giving the Journey an actual end point purpose, along with accepting that others change the world with their journeys and this also applying to our journey + how we quantify the cost benefit analysis of any given Journey.

I like both options more than skip here but this one's definitely more appropriate, both IC and OOC.
