the more I think about it the more I like the waystone project. It starts with a visit to the elves that proposed the plan includes visits to waystone all across the old world to compare those working well with those that do not and we already know enough that we where able to temporarily block the flow to Vlag. It will not take decades as we are not trying to repair the entire network but fix one or two waystones as that might be enough for the dwarfs to power one of the golden age great works once more and once we know how we can write a book about it so other can do it or even create an organization that does waystone repairs/maintiance/expansion full time once the methods have been developed that might not need a mage of our skills.

Belegar is interested in finding out more about where the magic goes from his hold and why combine that with spending dwarven favor to ask for a runesmith to work on the waystones with us and the elves have asked us to try and fix a waystone so they should provide support for the project as well.
If it's your #1 preference, be aware that it is currently behind Markgraf of Eastern Stirland.
it isn't, I cant find it @picklepikkl ? but boney said that we will largely be focusing on fighting the vampires. its the Count option that's about ruling.
I am pretty sure literally everything about the focus of the job is in the last update.

My take is that it's definitely about fighting vampires, but not primarily personally. There will be lots of that, but also managing soldiers and dealing with holy orders. It's definitely a rulership quest, albeit one focused on ridding your polity of vampires and necromancers.
I think it's pretty unlikely the initial waystone cooperation gathering phase will boil down to something like a long series of conferences where we try to make people get along or similar as some people have proposed. Seems more likely to me that the Ice Witch paradigm is the more likely one we'd default to if they were willing in principle to get on board. Basically some term or other that would be fulfilled by Mathilde in a more dynamic way as opposed to just trying to scrounge up some gold to pay them with.
Well said.

I am very disinterested by the Waystone Project. I can understand if some people would prefer not to run a province, but to me that sounds way better to me then running Waystones for however many years.

If people reject Markgraf strongly, could I perhaps interest anyone in settling on Bodyguard or Loremaster-at-Large as compromise options?

398 voters, so this vote is now officially the biggest in the quest.

We'll have to see how much farther it has to go.

Idle thought: What about the flag?

Loremaster is easy. Either of Belegar's banners (clan, karak) would serve just as well now as they did in the past.

Markgraf is equally easy but a bit more variable. Stirland has both old and new banners available. As does Sylvania (old and new) should we feel a bit more… independent.

Bodyguard would presumably get us the basic Empire banner. Although it is possible there is a family specific one we could use instead.

The Waystone Project however has me a little stumped. None of the canon banners really fit. Heck there isn't even much in the way of image for waystones. We would probably need to bespoke something.

Roswita laid out her priorities and expectations. Anything beyond that is up to Mathilde.

You'd have full power to do whatever it takes to make sure that when one of the von Carsteins wakes back up, Sylvania doesn't immediately revert to their control.

This, then. That's going to require a ton of diplomacy stewardship, and piety work - much moreso than military in general, given that most of the immediate active threats have already been dealt with by having a few dozen battle wizards jump up and down on them, and especially moreso than personal marital.

So yeah, fief building. Undoubtedly well written fief building, given that Boney is a good writer, but still.

Trying to link the images directly from the wiki just gives a bunch of broken images when you try to follow them.

It's more of a House Luitpold/Reikland position, than an Imperial one. Remember the job offer (formally) came from the Steward of his personal holdings, and the job objectives are specifically to prop up his (and Her) dynasty.

Me too on just clicking the link, but they showed when I refreshed the page.

Updating my vote to include Loremaster, because I'd be alright with that (and I want to promote it as an alternative to Waystones for the anti-Markgraf crowd).

Some people can't see the images. If you take out everything after the ? in the links and it should be fine.
